Extra's Guide to Surviving a Dark Fantasy World-Chapter 62: Names
The old man muted the TV. "You hear that they are sending young children in the middle of Wailing Hollows. That place is going to be a death zone, I tell you."
He then turned to face Soren. "It’s going to be dangerous; I know it has been your dream to attend the Sacred Vanguard Academy ever since I met you, but this... I don’t believe anything out there is worth-"
"I am going, old man." Soren cut him off, trying his best to hold his smile.
"Thanks for worrying about me, but I have to attend the Sacred Vanguard Academy, whether it’s in the human domain or out there in the expanse."
Hearing him, the old man let out a sigh. "I was worried about that." He then turned around and unmuted the TV. Even though he was silent Soren could tell the old man was upset, very upset.
But he couldn’t care about that. Instead, his mind was focused on the news.
Expanding into the Wailing Hollows, wasn’t that where they found the ruins of ancient Vhaeron civilization?
Weren’t the Vhaerons known for having pieces of that artifact in some of their cities?
He simply couldn’t believe it; for years, he had been searching for a way to get his hands on one of them, but to think one such opportunity would land in his lap.
This might be my only chance to get home; I have to attend the Sacred Vanguard Academy, no matter what.
Thankfully, he had already been accepted as part of a scholarship program. Still, the reports of changes in curriculum were a bit concerning.
"I need to make some phone calls." Saying so, he rushed back to his room.

Traveling through the Gleaming Wastes wasn’t such a chore as long as there was someone willing to carry you on their shoulder.
That was the conclusion I had come to after spending the last couple of days on the demon’s shoulder.
It had been two whole days since I got off the ship in a different city, and I had to continue my journey on foot. I was close to exiting the Wastes though, that I was sure of. I could somehow feel it; firstly, the heat had decided to turn a bit tolerable, and second, I had spent an entire week traveling on that ship to reach this point.
In the end, even though I was able to snag a week’s worth of rest, my body had still been far too injured to... move. So I had to resort to the demon putting me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carrying me the rest of the way, an arrangement that had once seemed humiliating but now felt comforting.
Besides, this entire thing had given me a chance to catch up on something I had been putting off for way too long.
"How about we stay with Stormraven and Duskwraith and instead simply shorten it to Raven and Wraith?" I suggested mentally communicating with my two revenants.
As if they had been waiting for me to suggest me the very same thing both of them shook in joy. Although they had been reacting pretty happily to my previous suggestions as well, this time, I could feel that they were genuinely happy.
But why? Returning back to these old names... Don’t tell me.
A strange idea popped up in my head. Could it be because that’s what I had named them since the beginning, so they had simply accepted it as their true names?
Such reverence... If this was true, then there was another layer to their loyalty that I hadn’t yet known.
Suddenly, my eyes turned toward the hulking figure of the two-horned demon.
Don’t tell me he is going to expect me to call him a demon as well.
I summoned my status screen.

The names have changed to Raven and Shroud, that was interesting. My gaze immediately went towards Demon’s status. Level- 3, sadly the revenant I had extracted wasn’t at the same level as the demon I had killed.
Still, the good news was that I had managed to acquire a new spell, [Ember Cloak]. Currently, I had no idea what it did, but considering the spell itself was level 3, I certainly had high hopes for it.
Suddenly, the sky turned black, and in front of my eyes, I saw the vision of hundreds of thousands of stars, including the moon, falling onto the surface.
I immediately closed my eyes, opening them after a couple of seconds. Everything had returned to normal, the sky turning back to its usual blue.
Lightly shaking my head, I continued looking at the status screen. The hallucinations had started happening while I was on the boat. Besides, I had already become more or less used to them by now, so there was no use losing sleep over them.
"Right, so where were we? Yes, your name." I looked at the demon. I had already committed the mistake with Raven and Wraith, and I wasn’t going to repeat it with him.
"Primarch, how about Primarch?" I spoke, remembering one of the names Aria had suggested for Raven.
Listening to the name, the demon grunted in affirmation. This was it; today, I had finally finished naming all three of my revenants.
I was so satisfied with my work that I almost didn’t hear the tiny beep from my pocket.
It was as if the world had suddenly went silent and all that existed in it was the siund of this tiny beep.
"No way." I immediately ordered Primarch to put me down on the sand and took out my communicator from my pocket.
Beep.
The communicator resounded once again, making me almost jump in excitement. The communicator turning on meant it had finally started picking up signals from the alliance.
Months of journey had finally paid off, finally after all this time I had reached the end of the Wastes.
