Chapter 21: Causing Trouble On First Day (1)

"What?!" Ophelia flinched at his sudden action.

Noah was bowing to her and apologizing. It looked too sincere. His voice sounded honest.

"Oh my? What’s going on?"

"He’s bowing? Is he apologizing to her?"

"She was his fiancée. Yet what he did was shameful. Now asking for forgiveness won’t change anything."

Murmurs followed.

Ophelia clenched her fists. Her eyes were filled with shock.

What was happening?

She couldn’t understand it.

She had known Noah for years. An arrogant boy who did whatever he wanted. A wasted young man with no future. Someone who never felt guilty for his actions.

And now the same boy was bowing to her, saying sorry.

That was not the Noah she knew. Now it was her who was baffled by the situation. But then she shook her head.

What Noah had done was not something forgivable. With a cold expression, she spoke sharply.

"So now you are shamelessly asking for forgiveness... after trying such things. Do you think your apology would change anything?"

Noah straightened his back. Calmly, he replied, "No, I know it won’t. And I’m not asking you to forgive me. But I still wanted to say this."

Ophelia went silent. Her eyes trembled for a few seconds before calming down again. She looked at him with the same cold indifference.

"I will never forgive you, Noah..." She paused for a while, then said, "You really are a pathetic man."

Ophelia’s last words made him slightly angry.

’Control yourself, Noah! She has every right to be angry with you... but damn!’ He knew her anger was understandable and that she was not wrong.

But it still irritated him. Slowly, the guilt inside him faded away.

’Since I apologized to her... and she’s still angry... a little teasing won’t matter much. I mean, she already hates me so much... she’ll just hate me more. Nothing much.’

After making these wrong excuses to himself and convincing himself that what he was about to do wasn’t wrong...

He stared at her. A wide smile slowly appeared on his face. His eyes looked gentle. He leaned slightly closer to her.

’I am really going to be in big trouble... but fuck it, I don’t care! I can’t stop myself.’

Softly, he said,

"Ophelia... let me make up for what I did. How about you do the same thing to me that I tried to do to you? I won’t fight back. Then we’ll be even... and there won’t be any reason to hate me."

"WHAT?!"

Ophelia stepped back with wide eyes. She was beyond shocked. Her cheeks turned faintly pink. It was hard to tell why. Was it embarrassment? Or pure anger? Or perhaps she was imagining the scenario where she tried to do the same thing to him?

It could have been anything. But Noah didn’t care. He was more satisfied by her reaction. ’Get more angry. I’ll feel more satisfied.’

For some reason, he wanted to see her even more annoyed.

Her face flushed slightly with anger. "You shameless bastard!" she shouted.

"How dare you think I would do so—something s-so disgusting and lowly?!"

Her voice was louder this time. Other students could clearly hear her now. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

And she noticed it. Her eyes quickly darted around as she realized many students were watching them.

Clicking her tongue in irritation, she glared at Noah one last time. "Tch! Don’t talk to me again. Stay away from me while we are in this academy."

With that, she turned around and walked away. Leaving Noah standing there.

And Noah... He felt strangely satisfied.

With a grin, he muttered to himself, "Haha... that was fun."

Then his face turned calm. "...Did I do the right thing? Damn... I think I shouldn’t have done that." After thinking for a while, he started to feel bad.

"Anyways.."

Then he looked around. Everyone was staring at him.

Noah frowned at their gazes. "What are you looking at?!" he snapped angrily.

"Was there a show going on here?! Scram off!" His expression was clearly irritated.

He had just acted like some delinquent student threatening or ordering normal students.

The surrounding students flinched at his words and quickly started moving away.

They didn’t want to mess with someone like Noah.

Who knew what kind of madness this troublesome, exiled son might do?

It was better not to get involved with him.

"Good," he nodded.

He adjusted his tie like some professional businessman.

Then he started to walk.

But his trouble was not over yet.

"Oh my~ Look here... It’s the first day, and the young mast—oh sorry, I mean the exiled young master of the Eldritch family is already making trouble."

A mocking voice came from behind.

Noah stopped in his tracks. Then he turned back to see who had come to annoy him. Standing there were three young men of his age.

Their uniforms indicated they were first-year students. In the middle stood a man with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He was as tall as Noah and was looking at him with a mocking smile.

On his right side stood a man with round glasses on his nose and black hair. He was giving Noah a knowing smile.

On the left side stood a slightly fat man with dirty blonde hair. He was smiling widely.

Noah looked at the trio with amusement. "Who are you guys? Do I know you?" Noah asked, still slightly annoyed.

"What?! Di–Did you ask who we are?" the fat boy spoke in bewilderment. The brown-haired guy gritted his teeth but still maintained his smile.

Meanwhile, the glasses-wearing man stopped smiling.

He raised his index finger and pushed the bridge of his glasses.

For a second, his glasses reflected the light.

"Now you are acting like you don’t know us... You really have no shame," the brown-haired guy said with irritation, though his smile never disappeared.

’Maybe I know them... They look familiar.’

Noah forced himself to search through the real Noah’s memories.

After thinking for a while, he finally remembered them.

"Edward, it’s you!" he said, looking at the brown-haired man.

Then he looked at the fat one. "And you are Richard."

Then he turned toward the black-haired guy. "And you... you are Glasses-kun... wait, I mean Tetsu Sugiyama. Or should I say your surname first, Sugiyama Tetsu?"

"Don’t you dare call me Glasses-kun!" Tetsu warned Noah with an annoyed face.

"Oh, it seems you got your memory back pretty fast," Edward said as the trio walked toward him.

Noah remained standing there with both his hands inside the pockets of his trousers.
