Chapter 412: Narrow Dodge

The bandits were all stunned, and the wild women’s expressions grew intense with greed, without a word of exchange among them. All ten of the bandits dashed forward with all of their might, not hiding their true power anymore.

A vicious glint passed through Axel’s eyes. Against such a coordinated, well-thought-out formation-based attack, a third-phase seeker might actually perish if they weren’t careful. He could see why these bastards have been able to survive here for so long.

Pouring his powerful mana into the sword, the rune vibrated in a humming noise, as it converted energy into a sharpening force all around the sword. Directly meeting the machete coming for his head, with a slash of his own, the blade of the opponent was deflected effortlessly.

Puchi!!!

With effortless movement, his sword pierced through the arm of the bandit leader, like a hot knife cutting through butter. Axel deflected the thin spear of the wild women, then, using his left fist, he threw an uppercut at the women’s jaw... almost shattering it.

Effectively knocking her unconscious, taking the spear of the woman, he threw it, the spear piercing through the feet of the wild woman’s brother. Then, he knocked the blade from his hand and dealt a blow to his forehead with the back of his sword. He also knocked this one unconscious.

But his body never stopped moving, as he turned towards the remaining seven who were just a step behind, moving his hands in a smooth horizontal motion, almost like a confident alien metallic warrior he once saw in the movies. In one clean motion, he cut off all of their heads.

His movement was so fast that all of these happened in a mere 7 seconds.

Thud x7....

Seven heads simultaneously dropped to the ground, with seven violent, bloody fountains coming out of their severed necks. Axel had turned around, and this scene occurred behind.

The carriage driver sucked in a breath of cold air, feeling terror creep up his spine at such effortless disregard for human lives, especially from someone like this doomed young master who had been in a deep coma for almost 4 years, and only woke up from it two years ago.

The leader of the bandits was still screaming, from the pain of having his arm cut off, his face was twisted, and he was hurriedly trying to block the blood that was coming out. Yet, the wound was not normal.

Bang!!

Axel kicked the face of the bandit leader, who barely stood up. The man threw up blood, his skull almost cracking, but Axel made sure to hold back so as not to knock the bastard unconscious. Gritting his teeth, the bandit glared viciously at Axel, tears falling from his eyes from the sheer pain, his mouth bloodied.

Axel asked while holding the sharp sword inches away from his neck, "Now then, how about you reveal who actually put you up to this task? Then I will make sure that they at least follow you in the afterlife to keep you company."

The rough and powerful bandit leader was reduced to nothing at this moment. He barely stopped the blood from flowing out of his body, but he had already lost too much blood. And that kick on his skull, his head was spinning.

He felt closer to death, like many times in the past. The bandit leader smiled, showing his bloody teeth. He knew that this time, it might genuinely be the end; he was used as bait.

But the offer was so great that he couldn’t refuse, and even if he died, as long as they kept their word. It would be worth it.

He stated with a cold and uncompromising ruthlessness, "Sorry, but I think I would rather have your company in the afterlife. Heh....."

In that very instant, Axel felt an intense prickling sensation at the back of his head, his instincts screaming in danger. Axel was still holding his sword in his hand, and without hesitation, his body turned at incomparable speed. A strong metal arrow was 1 second away from piercing his skull, and he slashed out.

Deflecting the arrow by a hair’s breadth, and the arrow was shot from close proximity, as it was fired by none other than the carriage driver, wearing an icy expression.

Axel squinted his eyes. As expected, there were more traitors inside his household than he expected, but the surprising thing here was that the carriage driver now showed the strength of a 2nd phase seeker. Yet Axel was sure that this guy was only at the 1st phase.

Perhaps he was suppressing his phase through some special technique rather than an artifact. His runic eyes weren’t at the level where he could see through such things yet. It must be a high-level technique as well. To so thoroughly hide from his eyes.

Slowly, all the trees in the vicinity rustled ever so slightly because of the sudden gust of wind, and the shadows grew deeper all around the road. Hundreds of cold gazes lingered on Axel, bringing out two minor, round artifacts. He threw them towards the two Siblings, for he needed these two alive, which is why he knocked them out instead of outright killing them.

With another mental command, the sword in his hand switched to the only 2nd-tier sword. He had engraved and optimized, and for now, it was only of the rare grade, containing a single pseudo-rune of Metal.

But the power of the optimized 2nd-tier rune tool was incomparable to any of the first-tier rune tools he was used to. The moment he turned around, taking a deep inhale of the fresh gale wind, he saw the hundreds of straight, sharp assassination daggers, all laced with countless deadly poisons, coming straight at his head.

It almost cast a dark shadow over his figure; his expression turned incomparably cold, and for the first time since returning, his golden, shimmering, runic eyes flashed with murderous intent as he unleashed his bloodlust; every single dagger held the power to kill mid-2nd-phase Seekers with ease.

And if you add together all of this combined assault, not even mid-third phase beings would come out unscathed. With the full power of his runic eyes and wielding a 2nd-tier rune sword for the first time, Axel chanted, his voice a soft, cold whisper, "Imitation Sword Style, True Sword Mirage."

Axel’s hands moved, leaving 16 exact after-images, creating the mirage of 16 hands holding sixteen swords. All of them slashed out simultaneously.

Eight slashes were vertical, and eight others were horizontal, cutting off almost 200 trees in a circular pattern.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmm!

Hundreds of swords that covered the sight of Axel were all shattered without exception, almost creating a small shower of broken poison blades. Then, in one moment, more than 200 trees, each as tall as a 5-6 story building, all fell, causing a small quake in the ground from the sheer force.

With the trees falling, the hundreds of 2nd-phase assassins had no choice but to appear on the road; the very reason they had ambushed him in this deep forest was the cover the trees provided. An assassin’s most significant power was catching your enemy off guard.

The combined killing intent of the hundreds of deadly assassins pressed onto him, and he retaliated with his own killing intent, his runic eyes shimmering in dark intensity, which made all the killers shudder in fear. Axel flashed a dangerous smile as he stated,

"Count Halden? To think you and the Duchess think so highly of me. It truly is an Honor."

He could see a tremor run through all the seasonal assassins, for they did not expect Axel to know of such sensitive information that almost no one knew. Axel was sure the powerful killer Count was hiding among the sea of black-clad assassins.

But even with his runic eyes, he could not pinpoint who or where that dangerous man might be; the only one who posed a real threat to his life was that one person. The carriage driver was already dead, his head already severed by Axel.

Neil was protected within the carriage, and the two sibling bandits would not be targeted by the killers either. The swarm of killers did not give him much time to think as they charged up all of their powers, ready to die if necessary because a professional assassin’s job was always to complete the task, regardless of the cost.

Countless killing techniques, synchronizing with one another, came towards Axel like a chaotic windstorm, causing the rare phenomenon called spell collapse. It was something akin to a controlled, chaotic tornado, with all sorts of attacks converging; it was almost impossible to block or counterattack. The only choice was dodging it.

But how could Axel not have the capacity to deal with it, with his runic eyes? Holding the sword upward to its extreme, he slashed down vertically, pouring an immense amount of his mana and killing intent onto the rune of the blade. Not wasting a single second, he slashed out again horizontally.

Both of these powerful slashes combined as a form of cross-shaped attack, "Cleaving Sword Cross."

To the absolute shock of the killers and the hiding Count Halden, such an impossible-to-deal-with attack had actually been severed by this boy.

The hidden Count Halden’s expression turned grim beyond compare.
