Chapter 456: Fragment of her Legacy

A wave of unfathomably potent darkness shot out from the Great sword; it was powerful enough to leave a trail of breakage through the space itself. And the sound of world-ending destruction did not come from the Dark Warriors’ attack itself, but from the breaking of space.

Leonidas’s expression turned solemn; it was only in his powerful eyes that the world had turned slow, but all of it actually happened too fast from the moment of his attack through the Sunbinder orb.

There was an invisible, untraceable thread still linking him with the Cast net of woven Sunlight; he pulled on the thread, putting in the immense power of his refined world force.

Though from that one slash of the Dark Undead, most of the cast net had been cut, nearly half of it remained, and it started to coalesce into a much smaller area instead of spreading out, and this time targeting the dark warrior rather than the barrier itself.

The face of the Dark undead warrior of supreme might could not be seen, nor could anything be inferred from his stale body language.

He only swung his sword once more in a much wider arc. Whispering in an unknown tongue that no human could comprehend, not even the strongest of humanity.

The death energy-filled slash of the Dark Warrior again managed to cleave the cast net of light in more than half. But the rest managed to latch onto his figure as well as print themselves onto one quarter of the Black barrier.

In the end, the power of the strongest human triumphed over the strength of the Dark warrior. But the expression on the King’s face was anything but pleasing, because he could sense it very clearly: the undead warrior standing on the Vertical Black barrier, like a grim reaper, was a mid-6th-phase being, the same as himself. He stared on at the Dark Warrior with a cold look.

Even though the King had not used all his power in that attack, it still contained nearly half of his power. But the Undead blocked most of his attack quite easily, which was very much expected from someone equal to his own level of power.

And it wasn’t like King Leonidas had not faced off against beings of other races in his lifetime before. It was not unexpected for the creatures of the ruling races to be considerably stronger than humans when on the same stage and phase, defying the fixed classification of Seeker’s path.

But even so, for him who carried the bloodline of a valkyrie, not to have an upper hand against someone of his equal power level. It was the ultimate insult. To add insult to the injury, he felt it; this creature had held back from retaliating in full strength.

The undead, observing the stripes of bright sunlight etched onto its skin, as well as the barrier area it was standing on. Then it laughed, its laughter an inhumane, shrill cry; again, it spoke in a language incomprehensible.

Meanwhile, the stripes of sunlight attached to the Dark Warrior continued to burn him nonstop, as they were a complete counter to the Death Energy of the undead species; the same went for the black barrier made of Darkness and death energy.

If his attack landed on the barrier properly, this thing definitely would have broken down.

As the mighty undead kept speaking, at one point, his bone-grinding, disturbing sound slowly became comprehensible to the King.

"You’re strong, Human King. Far stronger than what I could have expected. You have my respect. What is your name?" asked the Dark Warrior, his eyes flashing with countless imitated emotions.

There was a silence for a moment until the King answered plainly, "Leonidas Suncrest, King of Suncrest."

The Dark warrior nodded as he also introduced himself, "And I am Death Knight Zeledin Ulpranak, commander of the 3rd Ghost Legion of the Ghost Empire."

"The world truly is full of surprises, to think a human would be so strong to injure me truly, even if I were to go all out. I might have to pay a high price to win," chuckled the mighty Death Knight.

Leonidas narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "You really think you can win?"

The Death Knight laughed, "Uh, please forgive me, human king, it seems I have displeased you for holding back on my attacks, but I did not really wish to shatter the ecosystem of this region. After all, the stability of this region is pathetically weak. Everything here feels so disgustingly fragile."

"Regardless of it, I am glad you’re not like the spineless wretches of your race, that I have heard of, who do not know of any honor or code of conduct. I’m sure it must not have been easy for you to reach your current height of power, living in such a worthless region that lacks resources and is filled with inferior breeds of your race. So, again, you have my respect for that," addressed Zeledin honestly, despite the contents of his statement. His tone held no mockery, only the truth he recognized.

All while the Sunlight marks on the figure of Zeledin continued to burn on him unceasingly, but the Death Knight remained completely unbothered.

The look on the face of King Leonidas only grew darker and darker with each word he heard. The sunlight threads around his figure began to vibrate madly. The light around him grew in intensity.

Suddenly, the proud Death Knight’s tone changed, "But there is one more thing I must clarify, Leonidas. You should know that the only reason you are even a challenge to me is because of that Sun Magic. What a disgraceful attribute. I never wanted to kill someone so badly for a long, long time."

Zeledin’s killing intent erupted, and the world shuddered, the air became red, and the clouds began to bleed. The sunlight seemed to lose its warmth. At the same time, the sunlight marks on his body that were continuously corroding him stopped and lost their power.

But the Death Knights’ killing intent could not touch the humanities’ strongest; the bright halo of sunlight around Leonidas made him untouchable by any dark power.

The King also erupted in power, not with his bloodlust but just his sunlight-atttributed world force, which cleansed the world of the deathly taint.

The 3rd Ghost Legions commander showed a visible revulsion as he touched the remnant wound on his chest armor, "I have read of this power. Is it not a fragment of that damned witch’s magic?

Zeledin gnashed his teeth in fury, "The one who caused almost every major undead race to go extinct through the sheer might of her light. She who commanded the power of Absolute Light."

His voice grew a pitch higher, filled with hatred, as if remembering the greatest antithesis of his bloodline, "The Human progenitor of the Luminaries. The First Lightbringer, the 4th Valkyrie of Humanity, Ravina Evercrest."

"This Sun Magic, is it a fragmented power of that very Absolute Light wielded by the original Lightbringer?" the Death Knight asked with a screeching growl that shook the heavens.

King Leonidas’s dark expression vanished, replaced by a cold and ruthless smile, "So, what if it is? Or what if it is not?"

Zeledin’s hate-filled expression slowly vanished as he let out a tired sigh, "Even though I want nothing more than to have a Knightly Duel with you and end your existence. I cannot, and indeed. It doesn’t matter anyway. Because you cannot create the Luminaries, who were the greatest threat to us. We made sure to kill them all. As not even their ashes remain."
