Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 260: Twisted injuries
The sac was hurled at one of the knights, bursting into a tangle of vines. The knight attempted to dodge the vines but quickly understood that they were unavoidable. The vines covered much too much ground for him to navigate.
The snake-like vine crashed into him, its thorn biting into his body and pulling him down to the earth. The horse was likewise caught, with its entire body devoured by a vast cluster of vines.
Instead of injuring the knight, the vine that burrowed within began twisting its skin. The nearby knight rushed to help by torching the vines. The golden flames burned away all of the vines, but the damage from them remained.
"Stay close! Watch out for the sack of vines!"
Quin shouted out to alert the others; he also quickly cleared the vines and did his utmost to assure everyone’s safety. But as the vine seemed to go on forever, it grew increasingly difficult.
"Retreat back out!"
They haven’t progressed far within the wall, and their formation has remained unchanged. They merely had to reverse it to find their way out. Quin makes the turn quickly, cutting through the middle of the pack, where the bystanders remain.
They quickly changed to the formation and Quin took the charge again. They used more fire to cut through the place and successfully went back out of the wall of vines. However, it wasn’t without casualty.
Defending so many citizens takes a toll on the knights, with the exception of the one entangled in the bag of vines. He messed up and was entangled in the vines. When rescue arrived, it was too late; the vine had dragged him into their maze, killing him.
They just have a piece of his clothing to remember him by.
Another person who had survived with terrible injuries was still in pain. The vine had slid past his knight armor, infecting him with severe anguish. After they got out of the vine wall, the knight attempted to remove his armor.
Fortunately, the wall of wines did not follow them outside; it just stretched out to capture any stray civilian, and with Quin controlling the vine, they were able to escape safely.
However that wasn’t true for the knight named Flolo, he was the one who got inflicted with the vine-twisting nature.
"Priest! Heal me I can’t take it anymore!"
Flolo screamed. They had never seen injuries like those under the armor. The flesh around the thorn that penetrated him twisted like a whirlwind. Moreover it, he was compelled to scratch the injuries.
"It’s itchy!"
He stopped his hand with the will of a knight, knowing better than to touch a mystic-infected place. It could only grow worse if he did something. Max examined the wound and couldn’t help but be perplexed; there was no blood spilling from the twisting area.
It’s just a twisting skin if he didn’t know that the guy just got attacked by a mystic creature, he would have brushed this condition off as a body defect. His hand glowed with healing light.
"Priest, are we done... I’m still..."
After a while, Flolo decided to ask; his arm, which had been pierced by the thorn, was still itchy. He could bear the sensation if it weren’t for the fact that he had the same type of injuries across his body. Max heard the complaint but did not respond. His brows furrowed into a frown.
"The wound did not heal, but do not worry"
That phase came as a shock to everyone who heard it. The knight that was resting looked at the wound with a much more terrified look. Even the priest who was with Max looked surprised.
There’s a kind two kinds of wounds a fourth circle healer like Max couldn’t heal.
"There’s a residual mystic power?" the nearby priest asked.
In the first situation, the wound caused by the spreader that had burrowed into Quin’s body the mystic power they provide simply matches that of the healing priest and cancels out the mystic power.
Making the healing priest ineffective at their job, however, another possibility still existed, one that was taught to every priest in this field. in the rare chance they encounter this, they simply need to...
"No.."
"AGHHHH"
Flolo cried aloud as the priest whipped out a knife and sank into his body. The second option was to simply carve out the injuries and heal them back up. Because the host body may not recognize an injury as such.
It was simply a defect. If that happens, the host body won’t heal from the priest’s healing spell.
"What are you doing!"
"Don’t interrupt"
Quin said before the knight dumped in and helped their comrade.
"What the hell was wrong with you!? Sir Max is caving Flolo alive! He must have been processed by a demon!"
The knight was furious, his comrade was being carved by a priest. He didn’t doubt the sun god but everyone knows that a priest could be out of their mind.
"Don’t worry, the priest mind is very sound"
Their face was filled with worry, but they couldn’t be rushed in. Quin was a monster of a man, even without mystic power, this guy could likely win against them. However, they didn’t need to worry much more since Max already glowed yellow.
Flolo gritted his teeth and bore the pain. His wound started closing up bit by bit and finally, the skin closed all the way up, leaving no trace of the twisted wound they had before.
The priest pants after bearing the pain. But he smiled after seeing that the wound was healed.
"Thank you...."
"Thank me later"
Max murmured this as he examined Flilo’s wounds. There are about ten more of these kind of wounds that he must cure. Now, the knight had to suffer the pain, and Max had to use more mystic power because he had to cave in and cause additional damage. Just healing one person using this method used more than half of a fourth circle power.
----------------
After they retreated to the cave outside the village, many people were injured. Some had significant gashes from the deer’s powerful bite, while others had minor injuries sustained while running.
One individual could be seen ministering to the injured, he had a white coat that provided significant resistance to the chilly weather. It was the doctor, and he had just finished bandaging an injured tribal member.
They look at him with scorn since the doctor is of Empire heritage and has darker complexion. If they had known that the person who is currently healing them was responsible for the carnage 20 years ago, they would have killed him straight away.
The doctor, however, couldn’t care less about that, he was helping people relieve pain, the best way he knew. Since he couldn’t use mystic power, traditional medicine was the only way.
"What the hell were you doing?"
Hilda asked after spotting the doctor. The guy sighed as he turned around and faced Hilda, his patient sitting there listening to the conversation.
"Can’t so see?" The doctor pointed "I’m healing the people"
"You didn’t have other intention?"
Hilda blocks the doctor from the tribesmen that he just healed. She couldn’t help but doubt the man’s words, just knowing his past history was enough for her to be on guard. Maybe this guy mixed poison with the medicine that he used to heal.
"OH really??" The doctor scoffed "If I was having nefarious intention I wouldn’t need to give Egul the cure. It would also be more fun to see the chief lose one of his arms"
"Don’t need me with" Hilda pined the doctor against the wall.
"Lady, I’m helping people here, what if people die while you hold me up? It’d be your responsibility, no?"
Hilda’s eyes flashed with uncertainness, she looked at the bandaged guy next to her lying on the ground. His arm was covered in a bandage.
"Did he do anything to you?"
Hilda asked

"He healed me..." The guy answered honestly. Albeit now very proudly since he had just been healed by an empire of people.
"No, I mean did you feel anything amiss"
"Oh... well, I’m perfectly fine... doing better than before."
Hilda clicked her tongue and released the doctor from her grip. The doctor fell down and grasped for air. He coughed up a bit and stood up again.
"I’ll be watching you"
Hilda’d eyes pierce the doctor, looking at his every action.
"Sure"
The doctor brushed the dust off his white coat and went to work on another patient. Hilda kept her eyes peeled for any potential funny business that the doctor might pull. However, all he saw was a textbook healing method that she learned as a maid.
They worked with two or three more patients before the doctor looked tired. He sat down on the side of the cave waiting to regain his stamina.
"So, found anything suspicious?" He teased, the maid had been on him for a while now.
