He had opened it before but he didn’t even inspect it. Running from those statues was still one of the most scary encounters with mystic kind in his life. After that was the visage of a demon in an orange field that he got to witness at Tumidus.

The more he walked the deeper he sunk into this mystic world. After he was done with this he would retire to live a peaceful life as a detective that he was destined to be. But, before that, he needed to solve the Blood Snow... No, he needed to kill the murderer of Blood Snow.

That way he would be at peace with himself. No more feeling like something was huanting him. And that clue was right here, the tablet. According to his information, this was the thing that Athan was seeking. But for whatever reason the immortal couldn’t find it.

After digging for information for a long time, he found a trace of Athan way back a thousand years ago. Then there was a name that was present among the people known as the golden merchant.

The guy was rich and generous. So much so that some sources said that he paid in gold because he didn’t keep any currency on him. But for unknown reasons, the golden merchant one day disappeared. The only evidence that they had left was a sculptor. Their craftsmanship was not as good as the artist today but when he first saw it he couldn’t believe his eyes.

The sculpture stand about a meter tall and was wearing a long robe, popular in its time. And the most identifying feature of all would be a scar on his lips. It couldn’t be just a coincidence, it thing was exactly in the same place as Athan and their complexion may be a little different but there’s no mistake it really was Athan.

When he first came to know this information she did everything to try to disproof it. As a detective, he knew that coincidence existed. But the more he dug, the deeper it got. He found several pieces of evidence that led him to Athan.

The guy surprisingly left his trace all over the place and wasn’t shy about using his name. However, what got Holen more curious was the fact that differnt places had differnt perceptions of the guy. To some, he was a hero and to some, he was just a businessman.

But throughout history there a few records of him taking for something. Holen had been able to gather some family notes and found this out. There were two things that he was after, the book of Heaven and the Book of Earth. Both of which had no record that was easy to find.

In Holen’s journey of trying to find such a thing, he stumbles across many things but the actual piece of information about it remains elusive. However, in the back of his mind, he felt like something was actually preventing him from finding such information.

There’s no evidence of this but it’s just a feeling.

He held the table in his hand once more. The piece of paper seemed a bit old but the structure was still firm, unlike normal paper that crumbles over time. In his hand was the Book of Earth according to some documents that he got a hold of.

Well, saying it’s a document was quite generous, it was just a piece of carving on the wall that looked like a knife and a map. And after going through piles and piles of these drawings he was able to tell that it was a blood dagger. The one that he sent Reeva to get, mainly he was using them to see if there’s any curse on the thing which there aren’t any.

The map was hiding inside the dagger handle, he only got it after spending a long time inspecting it making sure that opening the handle didn’t get him cursed. And after he acquired the scroll this would lead him to something...

He didn’t know what the hell was this for. The scroll was different every time he opened it. However the content was still the exact same, it was unreadable gibberish that looked like Eyrish but the word didn’t spell anything.

It was fascinating in a way, there was a whole novel written into this scroll but none of it was readable and every time to closed and opened the scroll it would change.

"It didn’t look like anything"

There wasn’t any more mystical effect other than it looking bizarre.

"Could I take a look?"

Oven from behind was also curious, he lost his friend over this at least he should get a peek right? Holen looked at the knight and showed the scroll to him from afar. Oven’s eyes quint to look into the scroll and came to the same conclusion as Holen.

"What a bunch of nonsense is this?" Oven felt some rage boiling over "I lost my friend for that?...."

"...."

Holen didn’t know how to respond either, he didn’t expect the thing to be so underwhelming.

"What are you guys talking about?"

Kanku turned around to face Holen. Riding a horse had been pretty boring for him.

"This thing"

Holen thought it was not a problem to show the kid. Because this was just a scroll that did nothing to him. Kanku also squinted his eyes to read what was inside but came to the same conclusion that the text was unreadable. He smiled and asked.

"How did you get this old man? That was cool, Does the empire have this kind of stuff I couldn’t wait!"

"My name was Holen," The detective said "And the empire wasn’t filled with this stuff, this item was special. Do you know anything about this?"

The kid closed his eyes and thought of something.

"Where did you find it old... Holen?"

"At the east of the first fang territories."

"’Oh, did you happen to pass by the warrior graves?"

"What’s that?"

"Well it’s a place where worriers that died became statues"
