Extreme Cold Era: Shelter Don't Keep Waste-Chapter 803 - 32: The New Advisor
In the end, Don Quixote offered the formula for the warming potion to Perfikot, and Perfikot rewarded him by making him a noble with actual land.
Of course, it wasn't any large territory, just a nominal piece of land given to him around Chernobyl.
After all, although Perfikot didn't think Don Quixote was someone with a problem in the head, his delusions, or rather his fantasy syndrome, were indeed not mild. She wasn't comfortable letting this old knight truly manage a settlement.
While Perfikot was not worried about him causing any trouble, if a Lord with a head full of knight novels suddenly decided to try implementing some nonsensical policies from those novels, it would give her a headache.
So Perfikot merely gave him a piece of uninhabited land and let the relatively sensible Sanderion take the nominal position of 'agent', while keeping Don Quixote himself at the manor, appointing him as an 'advisor'. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
This position wasn't something Perfikot invented; in fact, her manor did have some 'advisors'.
Most of these people were frustrated scholars or young people who felt their talents were overlooked, mingling in the periodic science salons or lectures held in the Northern Territory, yearning for a chance to earn recognition from the nobility.
The Northern Lord's Manor regularly held such events, and those with genuine talent among these people would be recruited by Perfikot.
They would be placed in some of the research institutes or factories invested in by the manor to verify their talents, and those who did well would receive rewards. Among them, those who truly produced eye-catching results would be awarded the title of 'advisor', receiving a stipend from the manor.
Perfikot naturally intended to treat this Knight Don Quixote the same way… Oh, wait, Perfikot had already bestowed him a knighthood, so he could now be addressed as Sir Don Quixote.
Sir Don Quixote himself was quite content with this appointment, as Perfikot did not shatter the fantasy he had built for himself; she merely told Don Quixote that she needed a knowledgeable consultant to help her organize various precious historical texts and to extract useful information from them.
Of course, this was also true, as Perfikot had previously taken advantage of the opportunity when the countries of the Old Continent needed technology from her to cope with an apocalyptic disaster, gaining not only some precious artifacts of ancient alchemy but also a large volume of royal document archives from those countries.
Among these were many invaluable pieces of information from which even Perfikot herself benefited greatly.
However, the volume of these document archives was too enormous, and even though Perfikot and Sanderion, two masters of alchemy, worked together, they only managed to organize a small part of them.
A large amount of precious ancient literature remained, stored by Perfikot in a specially constructed library.
She had always wanted to recruit a few people to organize these document archives, but had been unable to find suitable candidates.
Most people either lacked the necessary knowledge or were uninterested in this task, making them hard to catch Perfikot's eye. She reluctantly recruited a few who were somewhat competent, but so far, the progress has been minimal, essentially equivalent to dragging their feet on the job.
Sorting out document archives is, after all, an extremely marginal and idle position, with neither benefits nor opportunities for promotion.
Only those who could withstand the monotony and focus could take on this job, but such people are talented no matter where they're placed. Why would they be wasted in this place, burying their noses in paperwork?
However, for Don Quixote, this work was quite suitable, as he wasn't an overly ambitious person, and he, who loved reading knight novels, was very fond of the ancient documents, willingly going through those ancient texts slowly.
Moreover, because of his love for reading various knight novels, some of which were written in ancient languages, Don Quixote actually learned several languages and had a deep understanding of and research into ancient scripts.
From any angle, he was very suited to this job.
Though considered an idle position, Don Quixote held no disdain for it.
On the contrary, he felt it was an honor.
So, after Perfikot personally wrote him an appointment letter and solemnly handed it over, this newly minted knight enthusiastically took up his new post.

"Let's establish a new potion factory in Chernobyl, specifically to produce this warming potion." Naturally, Perfikot wouldn't let such an important formula sit idle. After sending Don Quixote off, she began arrangements for the production of this potion.
"Understood, miss, I'll make the arrangements immediately." The old butler saw nothing wrong with his mistress's request; just another addition to the manor's enterprise revenue stream.
Whether it's workers or alchemists, neither of them is an issue in Chernobyl.
In the Northern Territory, especially in Chernobyl, the alchemy industry was quite flourishing.
After all, it's home to one of the Empire's only two master alchemists, and Perfikot was someone who liked to showcase her various research findings rather than keeping them secret.
Because of this, Chernobyl gathered a considerable number of alchemists, many of whom emerged after learning Imaginary Alchemy—new wave alchemists.
And the gathering of talent naturally drove the development of related industries in Chernobyl, making it the most developed city for the alchemy industry in the North.
Perfikot's desire to build a potion factory was simply a matter of issuing an order.
However, to produce this potion, raw materials still needed to be prepared.
Moreover, Perfikot wanted to decode and study this potion's formula, and ideally, further upgrade and optimize it.
On one hand, to enhance its effectiveness; on the other, to reduce costs.
According to Perfikot's idea, it's best if this potion could be spread among every Northerner, helping them resist the severe cold better.
After all, if even the frail Don Quixote could rely on this stuff to travel in the Northern winds and snow, there's no reason why physically stronger individuals couldn't achieve what he did.
Once the workers could resist the cold, the intensity of many construction projects and resource development could be increased.
Even if the cost of the potion couldn't be reduced and only a portion of people could use it, it would still be a crucial strategic resource.
How it's utilized depends on how far Perfikot wishes to go and on the real value of this formula.
