Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind-Chapter 53 - 46: Put It Down Yourself
When You Su returned to the sect, Ji Lingruo was already waiting at the entrance.
"Why so late today? You didn’t lose, did you?"
Ji Lingruo’s snug white dress outlined her graceful figure, paired with her delicate features, she looked like a serene fairy. Yet her posture, leaning cross-armed against the doorframe, starkly contrasted with her attire.
"Does my junior sister not believe in me? Although Wu Cheng is indeed fiercer than I thought," You Su chuckled, instinctively turning his foot aside to hide the wound, "He was eager for a duel with me, and today his wish was fulfilled; he won’t bother us anymore."
"That’s good, you do have some skills." Ji Lingruo smiled with affirmation, pleased with her senior brother’s win, which was as she expected, yet her delightful mood remained untarnished.
Suddenly, she noticed the hem of You Su’s lower garment hanging low as if deliberately pulled down. When she leaned over, she discovered the pant leg beneath was all torn, revealing several blood-stained wounds.
Her expression turned instantly to anger, urgently questioning, "How did you get so badly hurt?", stepping quickly to You Su’s side, supporting him closely.
You Su intended to refuse, feeling he could walk independently despite his current state, but the girl acted without hesitation, firmly slipping her arm under his to support him.
Feeling the soft contour pressing against his arm, You Su found it slightly awkward. Being blind heightened his sensitivity to physical touch, and the more he tried to not think about the softness, the more his awareness focused only on that particular area.
Previously, during lessons in Qi Movement, there was closer contact, but he had the excuse of educational necessity to deceive himself. Now, he couldn’t find a reason to ignore this enticing sensation, attempting gently to wriggle free, yet was promptly noticed by the girl.
Ji Lingruo’s delicate face flushed lightly, she locked You Su’s arm even tighter, feigning annoyance:
"Don’t move, I’ll help you back to bed."
So, You Su submitted obediently.
"Fine, fine, let’s consider this my reward for fighting so hard..."
Once they were back in the room, Ji Lingruo forcibly treated You Su as a helpless patient, sternly half-reclining him on the bed.
Ji Lingruo first brought in a basin of clean water, then examined the bags of medicinal herbs You Su had brought along, commonly used for bleeding and detoxification. She then positioned a chair next to You Su’s bed, preparing to move his foot.
"Junior sister, what are you doing?" You Su hastily withdrew his legs, resembling a wary bride unsure what her husband might try next.
"Applying medicine for you, hurry up! Don’t act like a girl." Ji Lingruo spoke impatiently with disdain, reaching again for You Su’s leg.
You Su quickly resisted, "No need, junior sister, I can do it myself; it’s not a big deal."
Yet Ji Lingruo didn’t argue further, gracefully smoothing her skirt as she sat, her legs tightly together, a refined pose reminiscent of a noblewoman from a prestigious family.
Yet her haughty expression spoiled her composed air. She slowly extended three fingers, threatening: "If you don’t want me angry, extend your leg yourself, I’ll count to three."
"Really, no need, junior sister; I can manage, and your refined hands shouldn’t be doing this," You Su flattered.
"Three."
"Listen, junior sister, people at the pharmacy have already tended to it once; why do it again?"
"Two."
"Junior sister, the Immortal Master from Divine Mountain already gave me a Spirit Pill. If I were even slower returning, the wounds would heal by themselves, what’s the point of applying medicine?"
Upon hearing this, Ji Lingruo glanced at You Su’s leg wounds, noting they hadn’t seen any medicine. Retracting her second finger, she coldly said:
"One."
With that, Ji Lingruo looked at the bloodied leg hovering before her belly, her lips curled into a smug smile. Amused by her senior brother’s feigned resistance, he had extended it yet exerted effort to keep it from touching her.
Too tired to tease You Su further, she tried to press his leg onto her thigh. Despite his injury, You Su’s leg surprisingly resisted, she giggled in exasperation, unsure of his stubbornness, simply retracting her hand as she commanded:
"Put it down yourself."
You Su seemed resigned, surrendering to place his leg on Ji Lingruo’s leg. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
You Su hadn’t seen but had felt; he knew the girl’s thigh wasn’t skinny at all, beneath the thin silk it felt firm and round.
You Su naturally wanted to be close to his junior sister, yet the concern for her circumstances inhibited him from openly accepting her goodwill. From his view, it was like expecting someone worse off to care for you.
Moreover, he understood that Ji Lingruo acted out of guilt, while he fought tirelessly outside, she could only wait at home. Thus, she paid no mind to resting during the day, intent on doing something for him upon his return. He could only be grateful his wound hadn’t yet scabbed, otherwise, she would’ve scraped it off to apply medicine.
Feeling the girl attentively cleansing his wound with a towel, You Su was moved, grateful for having such a wonderful junior sister.
"Hey, this is your reward for defeating Wu Cheng; there’s no such good deal next time."
"Haha, naturally."
...
As night deepened.
Gu Yao exited through the grand gates of the Shouxi Sect, flanked by Qi Daodong and Mr. Liou.
"Mr. Gu, we have now inspected all the sects in Chuyun City. The Shouxi Sect is a representation of our city, so much so that many young talents from other cities forgo convenience and travel here to train at Shouxi Sect. How did you find today’s inspection, are you satisfied?" Mr. Liou stroked his beard with a smile, subtly probing Gu Yao’s thoughts regarding the subsidiary sects.
Beside him, Qi Daodong echoed his sentiments deferentially: "Mr. Liou is too kind, the Shouxi Sect still has many shortcomings and falls short of being deemed a ’representation’. We appreciate Mr. Gu’s guidance."
Gu Yao feigned a smile in response: "Mr. Qi is modest; among cities of similar scale to Chuyun City, few have sects as large as Shouxi Sect."
"By the way, we haven’t visited the Mandarin Duck Sword Sect where You Su belongs, have we?" Gu Yao queried.
"The Mandarin Duck Sword Sect is quite dilapidated; its Sect Leader has been traveling for eight years without returning, leaving only You Su as its disciple. To save Mr. Gu’s time, I took the liberty of excluding these smaller sects; I hope Mr. Gu doesn’t mind," Mr. Liou responded apologetically.
"No worries, I understand your intentions, but since we promised each sect a chance, we can’t go against that. Tomorrow I’ll visit the Sword Sect myself; you don’t need to accompany me."
With that said, Gu Yao turned away, leaving Mr. Liou and Qi Daodong exchanging a glance filled with unspoken meanings.
