Chapter 68: Ch 68 : Another self

On a morning half a month later, a maid entered Nord's room and approached his bed.

She gently pushed him, who seemed to still be asleep, and said, "Young Master Nord, it's time to wake up."

It was a rule set by Nord's father that he must get up promptly at 7 a.m.

Since Nord was four years old, he had always followed this rule, so the maid had never had any concerns.

However, today it was already 7:30 a.m., and Nord had not gotten up, which was unusual.

Although the maid was puzzled, she still went to Nord's room to wake him.

Upon hearing the maid's words, Nord suddenly opened his eyes.

A purple six-pointed star on his right eye spun continuously.

He spoke, "Lowly servant, who allowed you to touch my body?"

With that, the maid was immediately thrown backward by a force, crashing against the door.

"Someone, help! Young Master has gone mad, someone help..." After recovering from the pain, the maid ran out of the room, continuously shouting in fear.

Nord, lying on the bed, silently looked at his hands.

"So, this is my body? [The other me]... Since you refuse to accept the power of the Gods, then I shall accept it in your stead."

In an instant, Nord's hair turned silver, and six wings extended from his back.

His expression was cold, devoid of any emotion.

---------------

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the stairs of the house, with a look of concealed joy on Hughes face as he hurried to Nord's floor.

(Finally succeeded, the Complete God.)

Hughes was filled with immense satisfaction in his heart.

Just as he had predicted, after undergoing the God-making experiment, Nord now possessed the power of a God.

However, Hughes heart was still far from satisfied.

In Hughes mind, a God should not only possess immense power but also a demeanor of contempt for everything, an absolute rationality, and a lack of human emotions.

But without such a personality and awareness, Nord still appeared to be an incomplete being in Hughes eyes.

Yet, Hughes was not worried, for he had long anticipated this outcome.

After Nord acquired the power, guided by the divine force in his right eye, another personality would split from his soul.

This new personality would be born specifically to fully harness the power of the Gods, possessing absolute rationality.

Supported by the divine power, this personality would grow powerful enough to eventually suppress Nord's main personality, until it ultimately devoured it.

The two would merge, becoming the True God Hughes envisioned.

As Hughes thought of all this, he had already arrived at Nord's door.

He took a deep breath and knocked twice.

"Come in," a cold voice came from inside.

With permission granted, Hughes opened the door, and what he saw was a silver-haired child sitting in a chair.

His ten fingers were crossed, and his wings fluttered gently.

Just by sitting there, he exuded an overwhelming pressure that made it hard to breathe.

Upon seeing Hughes, the silver-haired Nord spoke, "Fool, who are you?"

Hughes respectfully bowed and said, "Your Majesty, the Lord of Light, I am your loyal servant, Hughes."

"You are my loyal servant? Then, what can you do for me?"

As if already anticipating Nord's question, Hughes smiled faintly, "Your Majesty, the Lord of Light, your strength has not yet fully recovered. I can offer you countless souls to help restore your greatest power. Once you do, you will reign over the entire continent and establish a glorious kingdom of light."

Upon hearing Hughes words, the silver-haired Nord coldly stared at him.

It wasn't until Hughes forehead began to sweat nervously that he nodded slightly, "Very well, what you do shall not be forgotten by me."

"Yes!"

-----------------

"You... who are you?"

"Your consciousness is still intact? How is that possible?"

"Get out, get out... give me back my body!"

"The strength of your soul exceeds my expectations... but I am a part of you, originating from the same soul. You cannot drive me out."

"Originating from the same soul? What do you mean?"

"Though I was born from your soul under the guidance of the divine core as an embodiment of absolute rationality, I am still a part of you. In other words, I am you."

"I don't understand what you're saying... Shut up! Give me back my body!!!"

"...You still don't understand, do you... Very well, I shall let you take control of the body for now..."

-----------------

"Where is this...?"

When Nord opened his eyes again, he found himself standing on the streets of a city.

Blood and corpses were scattered all over the ground.

"What happened? What on earth happened?"

Nord stared blankly at the scene before him.

Suddenly, he felt something gripping his ankle.

Looking down, he saw a dying woman.

Her hand clutched tightly onto his pants, her face filled with hatred.

"I... curse you... You demon... You destroyed... our home..."

With those broken words, the woman closed her eyes, never to wake again.

Hearing her words seemed to trigger something in Nord's mind.

A sharp pain pulsed through his head as memories from the past month suddenly flooded his mind.

He saw his silver-haired self, expression cold and indifferent, mercilessly destroying countless towns and villages, slaughtering people without hesitation, his lips speaking unfamiliar and cruel words.

"What have you done... What have you done?!!!" Nord screamed, demanding an answer from the other self within his mind.

"They were nothing more than ants. Why are you reacting so strongly?"

"Ants... You call them ants??? They were people!!!"

"So what? To me, humans are nothing but insects. Besides, haven't you done the same?"

Hearing [His] words, Nord's body froze in an instant.

Yes, he had no right to accuse [Him], because he had done the same thing himself...

Looking at his blood-stained hands, Nord's face was filled with confusion.

He stood there, motionless for a long time.

Finally, as if he had just thought of something, he spread his wings and flew into the sky.

"Lia... Where's Lia? I've been missing for a month. Is she okay? Lia!"

P.S Author Note :

Nord's situation can actually be understood similarly to Yugi Mutou in Yu-Gi-Oh! or Yuji and the Snake in Shakugan no Shana. However, Nord's two personalities don't get along as well. Since they're competing for dominance, their relationship is more like that of rivals.
