Fake dating my enemy, The playboy billionaire-Chapter 129: Kismet
YIREN’S POV
"Jun, why?" The words barely escape my lips, shaking with confusion and pain. Why did he do this? Daryl is dead. Yifan is going to take advantage of it, try to snatch the company right out from under us. Jun should be in New York, preparing for whatever might happen next. Instead, he’s here. With me.
"I already answered that, Yiren. I was needed here more," his voice low, filled with determination.
I turn away, feeling the tears prick at the corners of my eyes. "No, you don’t. You dumb man. I’m nothing in your life! You don’t have to burn down your dreams for me!"
But he did. The ache in my chest grows stronger, I was sad for my project but now I’m dying hearing about him. The pain is unbearable.
I roll the window down to catch a breath, but I suffocate myself under the weight of my own emotions. I shouldn’t feel like this, shouldn’t let this rush of feelings take control, but I do. And it’s terrifying.
"Yiren," he calls softly, but I keep my gaze fixed on the passing scenery.
"Yiren, look at me," he calls again, his voice insistent. I can hear the softness in it, the tenderness, the love, the care....
He pulls the car over to the side of the road, and before I can protest, he’s pinching my chin gently, forcing me to turn and meet his gaze.
His eyes. They’re always so deep, so full of honesty, and right now they pierce through me like nothing else. There’s no malice, no deceit—just him. Like always. The man I’ve fought to push away. But now, I’m trapped in his stare, unable to escape.
"You shouldn’t have done that," I choke out. I’m falling apart inside, and he’s the reason. The way he cares... it’s too much.
"You might feel small in the grand scheme of things, but in my universe, you’re the centre of it all," he rubs my chin in slow, soothing circles.
"You may think you’re just a Chapter in my life, but you’re the whole story, and I’ll never stop adding more Chapters with you."
My heart... it stops. Everything inside me freezes. His words... they echo in my mind, as if the universe itself stopped spinning to let me hear them.
I don’t even know who I am anymore.
"We both started our dreams together. There is no way I will leave you behind and continue with mine," he says, his voice firm.
"Don’t do this, please. I won’t be able to come out of this guilt ever." I wipe the tears away, frustrated by how much they keep falling, but he stops me, gently swiping them away with his thumb.
"Then you have to promise you won’t give up on your dreams too," his voice filled with hope and a silent plea.
I open my mouth to say something, to tell him that it’s too much. But before I can, he places his finger on my lips.
"I’m not done yet," he reprimands me, "In 1967, a company was one month away from bankruptcy. The owner didn’t give up. He sold off his car, his house, and his wife’s jewellery, and everything of everything of monetary value and put that money into the company. Fast forward fifty-six years later, that company is one of the Fortune 500, and the owner is one of the top ten richest people in the world. Do you know what that company is?"
I shake my head.
"Feng Enterprises. That man was my grandfather."
The words leave me speechless. Feng Enterprises. Jun’s company.
I swallow hard.
"You see, Yiren, I’m not willing to let you go. We started this together, and we’ll finish it together. And whatever it takes to make sure your dreams don’t get destroyed, I’ll do it."
My heart is still racing, my emotions all over the place. Jun doesn’t just want to fix things for me but—he’s committed. To me. To us. To make this whatever this is between us to work. To make it forever.
"You will be accepting another round of investment from Feng Enterprises as a loan at market interest payable in the next ten years. And will finish Suyin’s lake house in decided time, and continue working on your startup. Do you understand?"
I reach up and place my hand over his chest. For the first time in days, I feel like I can breathe again.
"And you will go back to New York and talk to Liliana—"
"No." He stops me, "Going at this time will look selfish. Besides, Liliana promised me she won’t sell the company to Yifan. Words matter a lot in Russia mafia and Liliana won’t go back on her words."
"She is from Russian Mafia?"
"Yes. A bratva princess. So, right now all we can do is launch my car and team in F1 grandPrix 2025 and give it my thousand percent. If not Daryl, I’m sure the opportunities doesn’t end their."
"But—"
"Shh...Leave it on time and Kismet, bunny."
"Kismet huh? You believe in it?" I’m aware he is rubbing my lips now.
"When Jianyu got Meimei he said she was her destiny. When Shishi got Suyin, I heard same. Once is chance, twice is coincidence, but three times? That’s the universe winking at us."
He is talking about us. Kismet? We? But destiny keep the lovers together, and we....
I’m lost in thoughts when I feel him kissing me on forehead, my eye flutter at the sudden contact. "Okay," I whisper, my voice barely audible, "We’ll do this. Together. I’ll start my project again and you will launch your car."
He smiles at me, and it’s the first genuine smile I’ve seen from him in what feels like forever.
"Good. Because there’s no other way."
And maybe, just maybe, it’s the beginning of a new Chapter in our lives.
"Can I ask you a serious question?"
"Go ahead."
He starts driving again.
"You asked for a chance. A serious chance. But what if at the end of the day I still want to—"
A palm land on my lips with a smack. That was almost a slap, "Don’t jinx it. Or I’ll bring our pet panthers and make them guard our home so that you cannot leave ever."
Our home
Just how easily it slips from his mouth.
"That’s not the answer of my question."
"Impossible." He pulls my cheeks as if reprimanding, "When Feng Junjie does something he never leave space for doubts. I’m going to raise your standards so high that no men can ever come close."
He already did that. But I’m not telling him that. I scoff, "Arrogant."
"Confidence."
"Cocky."
"Charming."
