Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 221: Oops
Chapter 221: Oops
"What am I lacking? I’d be happy to fix it for you, of course. Anything to earn your approval."
Serena’s mouth opened, but no words came out. She floundered for a moment, her gaze darting between Mabel, who looked far too entertained, and Aiden, who was now smirking like the devil himself. She’d been tricked by these two masters!
"Uh... well..." she stammered, her mind blanking under the weight of their combined attention. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks, and she instinctively scrambled for an escape.
Finally, with a nervous laugh, she jumped to her feet. "You know what? I just realized I’m really tired," she blurted, taking a step back toward the stairs. "I think I’ll go grab some sleep. Bye, Grandma! I’ll see you in the evening."
Before anyone could stop her, she turned and bolted, her footsteps echoing as she fled up the staircase.
Aiden’s deep, amused laughter followed her all the way up. "That’s right, Serena! Run away before you have to admit I’m flawless!" he called after her, thoroughly enjoying her flustered state.
Back in the living room, Mabel shook her head, laughing softly to herself as she watched her grandson lean against the doorway with a self-satisfied grin. "Well," she said, a twinkle in her eye, "at least now I know you’re not entirely hopeless. Now, don’t let that get to your head. Go chase her and make her my daughter in law again. Becuase she is even more flawless than you. Understood?"
Aiden grinned and nodded, " Yes, ma’am."
Inside the room, Serena curled up on the large bed and hid her face under the pillow. The truth was that she was rather scared to get married again. Suddenly, the order of everything in her life had been restored. It was disconcerting. Also, now that all the bigger enemies had been taken care of, she had to face another more personal enemy- her nerves.
Aiden had stood by her all this time and she’d come to realize that she really did love him. It wasn’t even the love that kind of gave you butterflies. Nope. The butterflies had already taken up permanent residence in his stomach. It was the kind of love that she could not think of losing in this lifetime. And that was making her feel scared. Scared to take another step back.
Just as she was wondering how to go about that, the sound of the door opening caught her attention. Even without turning her head, she knew it was Aiden. Her shoulders stiffened instinctively, and she quickly turned her face in the other direction. Just because she was feeling nervous didn’t mean she had to let him see it. She took a deep breath, willing herself to stay calm and collected.
However, before she could even begin to ignore his presence, the bed dipped under his weight. Her eyes widened as she felt the unmistakable pull of a strong arm wrapping around her waist, tugging her toward him without any warning.
She turned sharply, glaring at him. "Hey! Do I look like a sack of potatoes to you?"
Aiden had the audacity to flash her a slow, wicked grin, one that sent an unbidden flutter through her stomach. "Of course not," he said smoothly, his voice laced with mischief. "No sack of potatoes could ever be this sexy."
Her glare deepened as her cheeks burned but Aiden could not be concerned about her glare. He probably thought that was sexy too.
She raised her hand, ready to deliver a sharp punch to his shoulder, but he caught her wrist mid-air with ease.
Before she could protest, he pulled her even closer, his leg casually draping over hers to trap her in place.
"I think," he murmured, his tone light and teasing, "instead of relying on food or my good looks, I’ll need something else to seduce you."
Her breath hitched at his words, and to her utter dismay, a traitorous heat began to rise within her. She squirmed under his hold, trying to look unaffected, but her efforts only seemed to amuse him further.
"Let me go, Aiden," she said sharply, though it lacked the conviction she was aiming for.
"Let you go?" he repeated with a low chuckle and brought the hand he was holding to his lips to press a soft sweet kiss on the inside of her palm.
Why? Do you have a problem with me seducing you?"
Her throat went dry as he leaned closer, his breath brushing against her ear. His voice dropped to a husky whisper, sending shivers down her spine. "I’m pretty sure my seduction makes you all soft and malleable."
Her heart pounded as his hand began a slow, deliberate journey across her waist, his touch firm and possessive. "Dam* it! He knows me too well.", was the last thought in her mind as Aiden’s seduction started to work on her and she found a way to challenge him back as her own hands found their way to his firm bu**.
With a groan, her lips caught his and the two of them soon ended up entangled in each other’s arms, their clothes lying on the floor in a puddle.
It was only later when Serena tried to move that Aiden tightened his hold on her and and nuzzled close to her, whispering in a drowsy voice," Let me tell you a secret. I don’t think I slept a single night during the time you were away from me. In fact, I think I won’t move for now. I’ll just settle here in this bed..."
Serena felt her heart stumble at his confession and despite feeling touched, couldn’t think of a single word to say to that, so she changed the subject,"You know, when grandmother said you had to court me, I don’t think she had this in mind."
Aiden smiled this time and nodded his head, "I think all is fair in love and war, honey."
"Really? Is this love or war?" Serena quipped, not expecting Aiden to really reply with," This is the war of love, honey."
