Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 255: A Dark Room
Chapter 255: A Dark Room
Ella sat in the dimly lit room, her body trembling as a chill ran down her spine. How long she had been sitting there, she couldn’t say for sure. The room felt suffocating, yet the thought of stepping outside was even more terrifying. Every time she considered leaving, Aiden’s face would flash vividly in her mind—his eyes cold, his voice filled with fury. If he discovered the truth, if he found out everything she had done... he would destroy her. And deep down, she knew she deserved it.
What had she done? The weight of her actions pressed down on her chest, suffocating her with guilt. Nathan had been right all along. He had seen through their father’s manipulations while Ella had been blind, lured into a web of deception. She had no hope of redemption, no chance of forgiveness. If they uncovered the truth, there would be no escape.
The room seemed to close in on her as shivers ran down her spine. She couldn’t stay here any longer. She needed to leave—to escape. She had to be out of Aiden’s reach when he found out that she was the one responsible for the death of his beloved Serena. It was her doing—her decisions—that had led to this devastating outcome. She had taken Kimberlee to the bridal room, allowing Kimberlee to replace Serena at the altar, and then she had dragged an unconscious Serena away, leaving Kimberlee to marry Aiden in her place.
In hindsight, she couldn’t believe how easily she had missed the signs. How had she been so blind? When her father had summoned her to his room that morning, the weight of his intentions hadn’t sunk in.
"Ella," he had said, "I need you to do something."
"What, father?" she had asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
"Go to the church where Aiden is getting married."
"Father, I already told him that I wouldn’t be attending the wedding since he didn’t invite you. You know how much I respect your wishes, but you can’t force Aiden to choose us. And I don’t want to back down when he has already chosen to ignore my wishes."
"I’m not asking you to attend the wedding," he had interrupted sharply. "I need you to go there and take Kimberlee with you."
"Kimberlee?" Her confusion deepened, her voice tinged with suspicion. "Why would I take Kimberlee?"
"Because she will speak to Serena. There are things about Aiden’s past—things Kimberlee knows—that will force Serena to reconsider the wedding. It’s the only way."
"But isn’t it too late? They are getting married in a couple of hours. If Serena leaves now, Aiden will be left at the altar."
"Better that than have Serena in his life. Don’t think too much and take Kim with you. Go. Now."
Ella let the tears flow freely now, her shoulders shaking with the weight of her regret. What a fool she had been. She had actually followed her father’s command and taken Kimberlee to that dreadful place.
Even now, the memory haunted her—Serena’s radiant face, glowing with happiness, as she had stood in the bridal room doorway. That brief moment of doubt that had flickered across Serena’s expression when she had seen her. But when she had asked to come into her room, though Serena had hesitated for a moment, Serena did step aside, allowing her entry- a chance to talk. When she didn’t have to.
Yet, just as Serena had reached to close the door behind her, Ella had spoken again, just like her father had told her even though her voiice had trembled with guilt and desperation. "There is no need to close it. "Someone wants to talk to you about Aiden... about his past."
Serena’s brow furrowed slightly, her expression shifting from calm to careful. She had stepped closer to her than and taken her hands in hers. "Ella," she began gently, "I know you’re not happy about Aiden and me getting married, but... nothing you say about his past will change how I feel. I love him. I hope you can understand that. I want to live my life with him."
Those words had pierced through Ella, cutting deeper than she thought possible. She saw the truth reflected in Serena’s eyes—honest, unwavering love for Aiden. In that moment, she had nodded, ready to accept defeat.
But then, before she could say a word in response, a sharp, deafening sound echoed through the room. A sound that shook the very walls, making Ella freeze in horror. Her breath caught in her throat as Serena her crumpled to the floor, her body collapsing under the weight of the sudden impact.
Ella’s vision blurred, panic gripping her as she stood motionless, unable to move. Her breath caught in her throat as her gaze locked onto Kimberlee standing there, a large vase in her hands, now dripping with blood. The sight froze her in place. "What... what did you do?" she asked in a whisper, her voice trembling with horror.
A pool of crimson spread beneath Serena and she was unable to tear her eyes away from the lifeless figure on the floor.
"Ella," she said coldly, her tone devoid of remorse, "You don’t understand. He would’ve never chosen me, not over Serena. She had to be taken care of. She was the obstacle."
Ella felt her world tilt, her vision blurring as tears mingled with the shock. Before she could comprehend Kimberlee’s words, a flash of movement caught her attention. Kimberlee hurled the vase at her with force.
Instinct took over. Without thinking, Ella reached out, her hands catching the vase mid-air.
Just then, a sudden rush of footsteps echoed behind her, and her father stepped into the room, his expression cold and calculating. His eyes flicked from the vase in her hands to the lifeless body on the floor, and then back to Ella.
Ella tried to call out to her father then but Kim spoke up," Mr Hawk. Your daughter attacked Serena because she refused to listen to her. What do we do?"
