Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 262: A Fool
Chapter 262: A Fool
"You came to the church, Ella. This is your last chance. Tell me the truth."
Ella closed her eyes, her chest rising and falling as though each breath was a struggle. She knew there was no escaping this moment, no turning back from the consequences of her choices. Her hands trembled in her lap, and a shiver coursed through her body. Slowly, she opened her eyes and met Aiden’s piercing gaze, knowing that this might be the last time she would ever see him. Her voice was barely audible, a fragile whisper that carried the weight of everything she had tried to bury.
"Serena is dead."
The words hung in the air and Aiden’s expression shifted in an instant, his fury boiling over. His hand, tightened on her face until she winced in pain. She tried to twist her head away, but his grip was ironclad. Panic flared in her chest as her vision blurred with tears.
"Don’t play games with me," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "What did you just say? Where is Serena?"
Before she could respond, his hand left her face, only to wrap around her neck with crushing force. Her airway constricted, and she clawed at his wrist instinctively, her body writhing as she fought for air. The room seemed to tilt and darken at the edges as her lungs burned. "Where is Serena?" He asked through clenched teeth.
"Aiden, stop!" Nathan cut it, just when Ella could feel her vision going dark.
Nathan shoved Aiden back with enough force to break his hold and stood in his way when Aiden would have come at her again. Ella slumped forward, gasping for breath as she cradled her throat, tears streaming down her cheeks. Each ragged inhale felt like fire and she knew then that if Nathan had not intervened, he might have killed her...
"Aiden, get a grip," Nathan barked, his tone sharp with authority. "If you don’t, you’ll kill her."
Aiden shook off Nathan’s hand, his body still rigid with rage, his glare fixed on Ella. His chest heaved with every breath, but he didn’t lunge for her again. Nathan’s hand remained steady on his shoulder, as though prepared to intervene again if needed.
Nathan sighed, his frustration barely concealed as he turned his attention to Ella. He knelt in front of her, his voice dropping into a softer, almost pleading tone.
"This isn’t the time for defiance, Ella," he said, his eyes searching hers. "We need the truth. Did you really go to the church that day? Did you see Serena?"
Ella’s trembling fingers clutched at her knees, and she swallowed hard, her throat still raw from Aiden’s grip. Slowly, she nodded, her movements small and hesitant.
"Yes," she murmured, her voice as faint as a breath.
Nathan closed his eyes, the weight of the moment pressing down on him like a physical burden. The implications of her words settled heavily in his chest, threatening to crush the fragile composure he clung to. Slowly, he opened his eyes and cast a measured glance at his father, who stood motionless, restrained by the guards’ firm grip. Nathan’s gaze lingered, his mind churning with the realization that the older man had likely orchestrated every detail of this nightmare.
Yet here Ella sat, trembling and broken, the perfect scapegoat for the chaos his father had wrought. Nathan’s jaw tightened. She had made this bed and now she needed to lay in it. He just hoped that Serena and Aiden would not end up paying the price. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Drawing a deep breath to steady himself, NAthan looked at her again and asked her slowly,"Ella, what did you say to Serena?"
Ella’s lips quivered, her throat bobbing as she swallowed hard. Her gaze darted to the floor as though searching for a way out, but there was none. Finally, she spoke,"I told her not to marry Aiden. I told her she didn’t have the right to be with him."
"But she was angry. She wouldn’t listen. We argued—shouted at each other. Things got out of control."
Nathan’s eyes narrowed, his heart pounding as he braced himself for what was coming. "What happened next, Ella?"
Tears streamed down her face, her breathing ragged as she pushed the words out. "We fought. She... she said things, and I lost control. I pushed her. She fell." Her voice broke completely, and her hands flew to her face as if she could block out the memory. "She hit her head. There was blood. I panicked. I didn’t know what to do. So I..."
"So you what? What did you do?"
"I took her away," she whispered. "I didn’t know if she was alive or dead, but I was scared. I took her and then sent my car down the cliff. I thought... if he thought that she had run away, he would be angry but later forget about her. So, I wrote that letter and then I forced Kim to marry him in her place. And then... But I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I swear, Nathan, I didn’t. I just wanted to stop the wedding."
The silence was palpable, broken only by Ella’s ragged sobs. Aiden, however, stood motionless, his fists clenched at his sides, his body vibrating with barely contained fury.
Nathan knew what Aiden wanted to do. If it had been anyone but Ella, Aiden would have already rid them of this world by now. Nathan shook Ella hard then," Which cliff, Ella?Where did you send the car?"
Ella opened her mouth, her lips trembling as she tried to form an answer. But her breaths came shallow and uneven, her body swaying unsteadily. Her skin had turned an ashen gray, and her eyes fluttered as though she were struggling to remain conscious.
"Ella," Nathan said more urgently this time. "Which cliff? Tell me!"
Her lips parted, a faint sound escaping, but before she could say anything, her body gave way. She collapsed forward, her eyes rolling back as her body went limp. "Ella!" Nathan caught her just in time, lowering her to the ground.
