Chapter 265: That Fool

Kim gazed at her reflection in the mirror, a satisfied smile curling her lips. Perfect. Everything about her tonight was perfect. The shimmering fabric of her babydoll gown clung to her figure in all the right places, and her hair cascaded down her shoulders perfectly... giving her the most sensual look.

Let’s see how Aiden managed to resist her tonight. He wouldn’t. He couldn’t. Tonight, they would finally consummate their marriage, and with that, she would secure everything she had ever wanted.

She exhaled softly and felt a sense of accomplishment all over again. It was almost too easy. What a fool Ella had been. Not only had she taken the blame for Serena’s death, but she had also foolishly claimed responsibility for orchestrating the entire wedding.

Now, allshe had to do was maintain her carefully crafted facade. She would play the role of the innocent party who had been deceived—pretending she had truly believed Ella’s ridiculous claims about the letter being written by Serena. She would feign heartbreak at the idea that Ella had manipulated her into stepping in to "save" Aiden from the humiliation of being left alone at the altar.

Kim reached for the sash of her gown, her fingers gliding over the smooth fabric as she loosened it, letting the neckline dip just enough to hint at her intentions. She wanted to strike the perfect balance—enough allure to tempt him, but not so much that it appeared desperate. Everything tonight had to go according to her plan.

She turned away from the mirror and made her way to Aiden’s private wing. She was nervous, for sure. Her heart beat faster with each step but tonigt even her nerves would not stop her. She had finally managed to bribe one of his servants to leave the door to his residence unlocked. Tonight they would erase all the distance between them—whether he wanted to or not.

Aiden stood still, his eyes locked on the moon in the night sky. The cool breeze moved around him, but he barely felt it. His mind was fixed on one thought: where was Serena? She had to be alive. She had to be. He couldn’t even allow himself to think otherwise. Any other outcome was simply impossible.

He took a shaky breath, his fists clenching at his sides. What had Serena said to him: that she could live without him but didn’t want to. It was good that she could survive without him, he thought—because he couldn’t. The very thought of her being hurt made him feel hollow, like the life had already been drained from him.

He knew he should be angry at Ella for her betrayal. He should be focused on finding out why she did it or worrying about her being in the hospital. But he couldn’t bring himself to care. None of that mattered now. The only thing he cared about was Serena. She was missing, and nothing else could hold his attention until he found her.

His chest felt heavy as he stood there, silently promising himself that he wouldn’t give up. He needed to find her, to bring her back. Until then, nothing else mattered.

Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t notice the sound of the door opening behind him or the faint footsteps crossing the room. He was too far gone, too wrapped up in his emotions to sense the presence of another until it was too late.

A pair of arms slid around him from behind, catching him off guard. He stiffened immediately, his body tensing at the unexpected touch. Before he could react, he felt the soft press of lips brushing against the nape of his neck as a familiar voice whispered his name, low and deliberate.

"Aiden."

Kim stared at the man standing there and smiled as she walked towards him. She hugged him from the back and pressed a kiss to his nape before murmuring his name... Her hands rested on his waist, but the firmness of his body beneath her touch tempted her to do more. Slowly, she let her fingers slide over his abdomen, feeling the ridges of his muscles through the thin fabric of his shirt. He was stiff, unyielding, but she didn’t stop.

"I know how torn up you are about Serena, Aiden," she murmured, her voice soft and soothing, yet edged with something more inviting. "How much you must miss her. It can’t be easy for you, carrying all of that on your shoulders, knowing your sister had betrayed you."

Her hands lingered on his waist, her fingers drawing slow, deliberate circles across the fabric of his shirt. She could feel the tautness of his muscles beneath her touch, the tension in his body. She kew he wanted to reject her but it wouldn’t be so easy. Even now, he had not yet pushed her away. After all, she knew all his ’pleasure’ zones. Remembered them.

She brushed her lips against his nape again, letting them linger this time. "But you don’t have to carry it alone. I’m here, Aiden. I’m here for you. I can take some of that weight off your shoulders, if you’ll let me."

Kim’s hands slid slowly upward, tracing the edges of his ribs, feeling the power in his frame. His stillness only spurred her on, for it indicated his acceptance of her touch.

"I know you’re feeling torn, Aiden. But I can help you forget... even if just for tonight."

Her hands slid down his chest, inching closer to his manhood. She paused, her fingertips lingering just above his waistband as she kissed the edge of his ear and whispered,"I want to take care of you. Let me help you, Aiden. Let me be the one to make the pain go away, if only for a little while."

She walked around him then and watched as he took in her attire. She’d let the gown covering her fall... and was now dressed only in her lacy baby doll. She watched his eyes darken and then his hand moved...
