Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 271: Williama Brown
Chapter 271: Williama Brown
"Mrs. Brown." Aiden rose from his seat, his movements deliberate and composed as he stood up and greeted her with a tone that could freeze fire.
Williama Brown, however, seemed utterly unfazed. She swept forward with the confidence of someone who believed the world revolved around her whims. Ignoring the chill in his tone, she leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek—a gesture laden with false familiarity.
But Aiden, shifted his head at the last second. The result was almost comical: her lips met nothing but the empty air near his face. The awkwardness of the moment hung in the space between them, but she pretended not to notice, even as her smile faltered for the briefest second.
With an exaggerated huff, she straightened herself and smoothed down the front of her tailored jacket, as if the fabric needed an excuse to absorb her irritation. Shaking her head, she let out a sigh that sounded as though she were the one burdened by the situation.
"Really, Aiden," she chided, her voice dripping with disapproval. "You should let go of these childish grudges. Honestly, it’s time to grow up."
Aiden shook his head," It’s not some grudge, Mrs Brown. It is revulsion. I would rather not have you touch any part of me."
Williama rolled her eyes, a condescending smile playing on her lips as she eased into the seat opposite him. "Well, if you’re so eager to keep your distance, why bother inviting me here?"
"I’m pretty sure you already know the reason for my invitation," Aiden countered. "Otherwise, you wouldn’t have come."
Her laughter was sharp and mocking. "Astute as ever, Aiden. You take after me in that." She paused, leaning back in her chair as if settling in for a game. "I was actually hoping you’d invite me after marrying Kimberlee. We could work on our mother son relationship. Or atleast foster a mother in law/ son in law relationship. But Kim mentioned something... about you being stuck in your past, or something like that. So, I thought I’d have a talk with you myself. And look at the connection between us. Your assistant called to invite me."
"You really think you can coax me into accepting Kimberlee as my wife?" Aiden’s voice sharpened as he glared at the woman. "Do you think I’m still eight years old, easily swayed by your manipulations?"
Williama shook her head with a chuckle, clicking her tongue as if scolding a child. "Tsk, tsk, Aiden. What did I just tell you? Let go of the grudges. They don’t serve you." Her tone softened, feigning sincerity. "Anyway, since we’re on the subject of Kimberlee, tell me—what’s the problem? You clearly liked her once. In fact, you were so taken with her back then that you intended to marry her. Sure, a few years have passed, but she was the first love of your life. That kind of connection doesn’t just vanish. Give it some time, and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with her all over again."
"And that would benefit yuo greatly. After all Colonel Brown is already fishing for another wife while you have not yet found a target for your new husband. But if I were to accept Kimberlee as my wife after a talk with you, you would be able to flex your power and force the man to stay with you as long as you liked. Is that correct?"
Williama smiled. "That would be a close description but I am also thinking about my children’s happiness. Kimberlee is a good girl while you are... a difficult man. But Kimberlee, she’s different. I’m certain she could make you truly happy if you gave her the chance. She’s devoted to you, Aiden. Completely. She hasn’t even looked at another man in all these years.
"Really? She hasn’t even looked at another man?" Aiden asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. He leaned back in his chair, folding his arms as a mocking smile curved his lips. "Then she truly is a good girl. Sleeping around with different men without even bothering to look at them. Remarkable self-restraint."
Williama froze, her mouth snapping shut as the color drained from her face. She was on the verge of retorting, perhaps demanding proof of these so-called affairs, but Aiden didn’t give her the chance. His voice cut through the silence, cold and sharp.
"Anyway, I am not here to discuss your love for your step daughter. I can improve your standing with the Browns and their circle, Mrs Brown. Once I let everyone know you’re my biological mother and that you have my support, things will be much easier for you. You’ll find previously closed doors opening, favors being granted, and invitations pouring in. Everything you’ve been struggling to secure on your own." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Williama’s eyes lit up with eagerness, the calculation in her expression poorly concealed. Luxury had always been her way of life, and Colonel Brown’s limited resources had left her chafing under financial constraints. Even Kimberlee. She would have attacked her if not for her obsession with Aiden.
Things had been far from smooth these past few years, and Aiden’s offer was tempting—a golden ticket back to the life she craved. She wouldn’t even have to look for another supporter then. But she wasn’t naïve. This sudden change in Aiden’s stance wasn’t born out of generosity. Aiden Hawk was not that... charitable.
She leaned forward slightly, narrowing her eyes as suspicion crept into her voice. "Why now?" she asked, her tone laced with both curiosity and caution. "In the past, you threatened me with ruin if I so much as mentioned that we were related. You made it clear you wanted nothing to do with me. Even when I tried to congratulate you on your previous marriage. So, what’s changed? What do you need from me?"
"Dale Brown," Aiden said evenly, each word deliberate and heavy with meaning. "Tell me everything you know and then tell me everything you supposedly know about the man.."
