Chapter 188: PARK MIRAE’S THOUGHTS

"WHY is Seojun sitting over there?"

Hearing Choi Yujin’s comment, Mirae stopped in his tracks. He followed where Yujin was looking and saw Han Seojun sitting with that pink-haired foreigner, Taeyang, and that pick me, Kang Haneul.

He knew Yujin had been bothering Han Seojun these past few days. How could he not know, when he was the one secretly encouraging it? He thought having Yujin follow Han Seojun around would create a good contrast to his own approach. This was especially important since he also planned to get close to Taeyang. He expected Yujin would come across as a desperate Omega chasing an Alpha. Except things did not work out that way, and Mirae was probably the one who ended up with that image.

Who would have thought that pansy Han Seojun would not even have the courage to push Yujin away? Meanwhile, Taeyang remained nearly indifferent to his own approaches. The other acted like he was invisible and never gave him any response. If he did not put on a hurt expression every time they interacted, people might truly see him as a desperate Omega.

But to be safe, Mirae still played the role of an understanding person who simply wanted to get closer to Taeyang and be friends with him. Fortunately, there were some stupid Betas who always hovered around him and tried to comfort him. This only strengthened his overall performance.

If he had known how things would turn out, he would have chosen Han Seojun as his target instead. But after watching the vocal performance, he saw the other had no genuine talent. No matter how good looking Seojun was, Mirae did not want to associate himself with someone like that. If he was going to attach himself to an Alpha, it made more sense to choose the most talented and most handsome one. Only one contestant fit that description perfectly. The current number one in the rankings, Jung Taeyang.

People might wonder why he was doing this. Naturally, he had a logical reason. Attaching himself to the contestant who would get the most screen time would guarantee him more exposure as well. He had planned this strategy from the moment he entered the program. He understood that no matter how skilled he was, it would not be enough competing against Alphas. This was especially true since the final outcome would depend entirely on public voting.

Despite what people claimed about Omegas having equal rights now as others, many still looked down on them. Some viewers might appreciate his appearance and temperament, but voting him into the final group was different. There was a strong possibility they would prefer an all Alpha group. They might include one Beta if that Beta was exceptionally talented. But an Omega? The chances of that happening were very slim.

That did not mean Mirae would give up though. No. Debuting was his dream. He would do anything to make that happen. He would even step on anyone if it helped him reach his goal.

He had believed that with his talent and looks, he would be the most outstanding Omega in the program. He already knew about Song Jiwoo and considered him the only Omega worth worrying about. But then, out of nowhere, that Kang Haneul appeared.

With a face that pretty, it had to result from plastic surgery. Combined with that voice, Kang Haneul was guaranteed to become a fan favorite. If only he had gotten a proper look at that face when they were roommates, he would have made sure the other was eliminated in the first round. But Kang Haneul was so calculated, always hiding behind those glasses and then dramatically revealing his face at just the right moments to get attention. That pick me was definitely doing it on purpose.

And everyone was falling for it!

Case in point, Mirae looked again at the table where Kang Haneul sat. He saw how Han Seojun kept stealing glances at Kang Haneul and how Jung Taeyang was glaring at Han Seojun like he had stolen his favorite toy. Mirae almost sneered at the sight. Who were they performing this love triangle for?

"Why does Seojun look so happy talking to that Kang Haneul?"

Mirae glanced at Yujin when he heard this. Yujin was clenching his jaw, clearly irritated by what he was seeing. A thought suddenly occurred to Mirae. Since Yujin would probably be eliminated tomorrow, he should do one final favor for him. After all, they were ’friends’.

"Don’t be upset, Yujin-ah," he said with a concerned voice. "Those two have been close from the start. It’s normal for Seojun-ssi to enjoy talking with him. Also, I shared a room with Haneul-ssi before. He’s just naturally friendly. See, even Taeyang-ssi, who usually keeps to himself, seems to pay attention to him as well."

Just as he expected, after he said this, Yujin’s face gradually flushed with anger. He glared in Kang Haneul’s direction. "Friendly? No, he’s more like a flirt."

Mirae smiled to himself. He hoped Yujin would create some drama before getting eliminated tomorrow. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

After they finished eating, Haneul decided to go practice dancing. He told the others, and Robin said he would join him. Taeyang and Seojun also agreed to come along. Haneul told them they could go ahead to a practice room first, and that he would check on Haru before joining them.

So the four of them got up from the table. As they walked, Haneul noticed Choi Yujin heading toward them. He assumed the other was coming to see Seojun, so he moved aside to make room since Seojun was walking behind him. But unexpectedly, Choi Yujin moved at the same time he did.

When Haneul stepped to his right, the other stepped to his left. Their shoulders bumped as a result. It was not a hard collision, yet for some reason Choi Yujin stumbled backward. Haneul’s hand instinctively reached out to stop him from falling completely, but he was too late. Choi Yujin had already landed on the floor.

"Are you al--"

Haneul could not finish his question because Choi Yujin suddenly yelled in tears;

"Kang Haneul, how could you push me?"
