Chapter 190: END OF A FARCE

BUT who could have predicted that Choi Yujin would completely ignore Haneul’s offered hand and shove him instead? Since Haneul was caught completely off guard, he stumbled backward and would have fallen if not for a pair of firm hands that quickly gripped his shoulders from behind, keeping him upright.

"Now that’s what an actual push looks like, not whatever you were accusing Haneul of," a familiar low voice spoke from right behind him.

Haneul looked up and saw Taeyang staring down at Choi Yujin with a hard, unfriendly expression. At the same time, Haneul became aware of the firm pressure of Taeyang’s hands on his shoulders. The contact seemed to generate a heat that spread through the fabric of his shirt. Then he felt his own face begin to grow warm as well, a slow blush rising on his skin.

Taeyang looked down at Haneul and noticed the other was staring at the floor, seemingly startled at being shoved by that crazy guy. He shot another glare toward whatever his name was. The other contestant visibly flinched. Good.

He knew he should have stepped in sooner to stop this nonsense. But when he saw Haneul handling the situation himself, he held back. It felt like he would be interrupting something Haneul had under control, and he doubted the other would appreciate the interference. However, the moment he saw Haneul being physically pushed, he could no longer just stand by and watch.

"If you still want to claim that Haneul pushed you, we can ask a staff member to show us the recording from the cameras," he said. "Then everyone will see who is telling the truth."

Yujin wanted to argue back, but when he met Jung Taeyang’s icy stare, he felt completely frozen. It was the kind of overwhelming pressure a dominant Alpha could put on an Omega. The fact that everyone in the dining hall was staring at him like he was crazy didn’t help at all. He bit his lip hard, then looked desperately at Seojun, silently begging for help. But Seojun turned his face away. That was the final blow. His tears threatened to spill over. So he just spun around and ran from the dining hall.

Haneul blinked in surprise as he watched Choi Yujin run away. He had been so distracted by the hands still resting on his shoulders that the other’s sudden departure caught him off guard.

"Do you want to report this to the PD?"

Taeyang’s unexpected question made Haneul look up at him again. Since Taeyang was already looking down, the movement brought their faces closer together. Haneul’s heart leaped into his throat, and he quickly stepped forward to create space between them. This forced Taeyang to release his shoulders, and for some reason, the sudden lack of contact left Haneul feeling strangely empty.

He shook his head, trying to dismiss the strange feeling while also responding to Taeyang. "No, it’s alright."

Taeyang studied Haneul’s face, carefully examining his expression. When he saw that Haneul genuinely seemed to be okay, he gave a slow nod.

Robin walked over to Haneul. "Are you okay?"

Haneul nodded. "Yeah, I’m fine."

"That was pretty crazy. What was Choi Yujin even thinking?" Robin said.

Haneul shrugged. He understood it likely came from Choi Yujin’s feelings for Seojun. What confused him was why he had become the target. Did Yujin see him as some kind of rival for Seojun’s attention? But that made no sense. He and Seojun did not spend that much time together. In fact, Seojun spent just as much time with Robin. So why had Choi Yujin singled only him out?

Was it because he seemed easier to intimidate than Robin? Well, whatever the reason, it was over now. He doubted Choi Yujin would try something like this again. Even if the other somehow made it through tomorrow’s elimination, this incident would definitely influence how the viewers perceived him.

Haneul felt certain the production team would include this little drama in the show. Unlike the situation with Lee Minjae, which resulted from an accidental rut, this incident was entirely Choi Yujin’s own doing. He seriously doubted the PD would pass up such a compelling source of drama. The only question was how they would choose to edit it.

Although the situation ultimately worked in his favor, he knew some people would still find a way to blame him. But that didn’t matter too much. As long as most viewers took his side, his vote count would not suffer significantly.

At least, he hoped so.

"I’m sorry, Haneul-ah. This is probably my fault," Seojun said as he approached him.

Haneul looked at the other. Seojun appeared genuinely guilty. If Haneul could figure out this was connected to Seojun, then he was sure the other must have realized it too.

Haneul shook his head. "You don’t need to apologize. This isn’t your fault."

"Yeah. Like you can control what other people do," Robin added. "But next time, try to dial back the gentleman act. If you can’t say no to an Omega, then just don’t be alone with them. Trust me, it’ll save you a lot of headaches."

Haneul almost chuckled. Robin spoke as if he’s not an Omega at all.

Seojun offered a helpless smile. If doing so were that easy, he would have managed it long ago. The more troubling thought was that Robin had clearly picked up on this particular weakness of his. If Robin noticed, Haneul likely had as well. He worried Haneul might now view him differently because of it. But he lacked the courage to voice the question aloud. In the end, he simply maintained his smile and said nothing.

Taeyang, who had been listening to the entire exchange, frowned. If he understood correctly, that guy from before seemed to have feelings for Han Seojun. But what did that have to do with Haneul? The only explanation that made sense was jealousy. And if he was jealous of Haneul, that meant he believed something was going on between Haneul and Seojun.

The thought sent an unwelcome spike of irritation through him. How could there possibly be anything between those two? The idea itself felt wrong, grating on his nerves far more than he wanted it to.
