Falling for the Omega Idol-Chapter 198: SECOND ELIMINATION ROUND (VI)
"THE two who received the highest votes from our navigators..." Lily paused again, trying to make the moment feel more intense. But with some contestants already crying, the feeling in the room became more sad and heavy. "Their faces will now appear on the screen."
Everyone looked at the still blank screen, including Haneul. He already had a feeling about who one contestant would be. It would definitely be Taeyang. Although he’s not sure if the public would have the same opinion on Taeyang, with his talent and charisma, there’s no way they wouldn’t like him. And for the other one... well, it would probably be Seojun, right?
If the other had done the same actions he did during the filming of the theme song, he would definitely have attracted the viewer’s attention. His performance of that song had a certain charm that was hard to ignore, and Haneul was sure the cameras would have picked up on it.
Despite a lot of things changing in this world when it came to Boys Odyssey, surely Seojun’s effect on the public wouldn’t be diminished. Yes, he might not be the best dancer or the best singer in the program. But those things had never really been the reason he debuted in the first place. It’s because of his overflowing stage presence.
He looked back again at the large screen, but it was still completely black and empty. The wait felt like it went on for ten whole minutes, even though a logical part of his mind knew he was probably just exaggerating and it was only a few seconds. Then, with no more warning, the screen suddenly lit up. A live video feed appeared, showing the faces of the two final contestants side by side.
Seojun had already accepted that he’d be eliminated today. He didn’t believe he’d be one of the two contestants on the screen, so he wasn’t looking at it. Instead, he was looking at Haneul. But he couldn’t even enjoy doing that because Choi Yujin was crying incessantly beside him.
He knew the other must have already realized that he would most likely be eliminated tonight as well. Seojun was trying his best not to offer any form of comfort, something he would have almost immediately done if Choi Yujin had not pulled that crap he did on Haneul. So, even though he could not handle seeing an Omega cry, he tried his best to ignore the other.
He was focused on ignoring the crying when a strange feeling crept over him. He noticed multiple pairs of eyes turning in his direction. One by one, the other contestants were shifting their gaze to look directly at him. He slowly tilted his head, a deep confusion spreading across his face as he wondered what they were all staring at.
His head slowly turned toward the large screen. There, his own face was displayed, live and in clear detail, right beside Jung Taeyang’s. The image on the screen perfectly mirrored his current expression, his brows drawn together and his eyes wide with complete and utter confusion.
What was happening? Why was my face there? Could it be that...?
"Han Seojun-ssi, and Jung Taeyang-ssi, please come up on the stage."
When Seojun heard Lily call his name, a powerful wave of realization washed over him. He was one of the top two contestants! A jolt of pure shock made his heart skip a beat, followed immediately by a surge of disbelief so strong it made him dizzy. He wasn’t eliminated. He had actually made it!
He stood up, his movements stiff and automatic, like a robot. The surrounding contestants, his teammates, rushed over to hug him and say congratulations. He heard their words, but he was just too shocked to process them. He answered them, but he did not know what he actually said. The next thing he knew, he was walking toward the stage. He wasn’t even sure how his legs carried him there.
Taeyang, on the other hand, had a completely different reaction. He confidently stood up and walked to the stage with no hesitation. He had already felt deep down that he would be in the top two. And that was not just his ego talking. He knew his advantages very well, from his looks to his talent. He had worked hard to make sure the public saw them. It’s just a matter of how he should use all of it to reach his dreams.
He smiled at Haneul as he passed by him. The other made a small "fighting" gesture with his fist, which only made Taeyang’s smile grow bigger. When he stood on the stage next to Han Seojun, he took a quick glance sideways at the other.
Han Seojun being called with him was actually quite a surprise. But then he remembered something from his previous world. Han Seojun was one of the five who managed to debut in the finale. And when everything went to shit, he was the only one who survived and even had a successful acting career.
Taeyang only remembered that because he had been secretly glaring at the other too much and his brain finally made him remember. How could he not glare when the guy constantly stared at Haneul as if he wanted to melt the other with his stare? It was annoying. He almost wanted to pick up his shoe and throw it at Han Seojun.
He looked forward. Well, whatever. It’s not like Haneul ever looked back at him. But then a small, smug part of him remembered Haneul had, in fact, glanced in Taeyang’s direction twice. And that made him feel a little proud.
"And now, I will first say the name of the contestant who got the first rank," Lily said. A long pause followed again. "The contestant who received the most votes from our navigators is..." She let the silence stretch out even longer this time. "Han Seojun!"
Hearing the name, Taeyang felt his confident smile waver for a split second, almost twisting into a lopsided shape before he controlled it.
