Chapter 770: Crisis - Part 3

Ivy groaned softly when she felt her head throb. It was as if someone had picked up a heavy-weight hammer and smashed it on her head. Moreover, her breathing was quick and she felt suffocated. Her chest felt constricted and painful.

Squinting her closed eyes for a moment to ease the pain, she tried to move but felt helpless. Her body weighed a ton and she felt lethargic. Her entire body was in discomfort. Forcing all the energy in her, she tried to open her eyelids which seemed to be weighed down by lead bricks.

The sudden lights stung her eyes and she closed them immediately. After waiting for a few seconds, her eyes fluttered open again. At first, her sight was hazy and she couldn’t make out anything or anyone around her. She even felt light-headed and weak.

But once she got adjusted to the light, she noticed where she was and fear engulfed her immediately. None of the faces were familiar, none but one and she stared at the man in horror. He sat on the throne-like chair in the middle, his sinister eyes looking at her with a cruel smirk. He looked like the perfect embodiment of a monster and Ivy broke out into a cold sweat immediately.

Ivy tried to move but in futile. She was shackled to a chair and the more she moved, the more the shackles dug into her skin leaving their marks on her.

Slowly, the memories from some time ago rewinded in her mind and she recalled all that had happened to her.

After she had departed from Joshua’s mansion with her broken heart, she had ridden her motorbike aimlessly. She had no idea where she was going, nor did she know who was following her. She didn’t even know how long she had traveled before she was blocked by a fleet of cars.

The road was deserted and she was surrounded. She didn’t even have the time to escape when she was shot with a tranquilizer, rendering her incapable of moving. She was still on her motorbike when she was shot and lost consciousness right after. After that, she had no idea what had happened.

"Hello, Ivy. How are you doing?" Jared uncrossed his leg and leaned forward, his smile widening in excitement. "I hope you do not have complaints about the arrangements I have prepared for you. After all, you’re my first guest and you need to be treated well. Please forgive me if I have missed something or if the arrangements are not up to your liking."

Ivy’s body went cold and her throat ran dry. She was utterly scared. In the devil’s den, she was all alone. At that moment, the only person she could think of was her sister. Not her father, not Noah, not Ian. It was her sister.

Joshua’s name hadn’t even flashed in her mind. Their relationship was over the moment she stepped out of the mansion. She wouldn’t call him for help ever again.

Though mortified, Ivy glared at Jared, directing all her fury to him. Even though it was not a smart idea, she couldn’t help herself. Her emotions were haywire and she was having a hard time suppressing her anger.

"Well, aren’t you a beautiful little thing?" Jared commented all of a sudden and Ivy felt her heart skip a beat in fright.

"I was always curious why Noah and Joshua, the two men who I loathe the most along with Ian of course, took a liking to you and your sister. Now, I realize. You have your charms besides your beautiful body and face." Jared licked his lips and Ivy felt disgusted by his lecherous look. She was close to throwing up. Just the way he was looking at her was making her queasy.

"I wonder how it feels to fuck you!" Jared mused, his eyes shining with lust and evilness. He didn’t forget to run his eyes over her body, enjoying the discomfort his captive was in.

Ivy’s eyes widened in horror and she tried to move her limbs. Once again, the shackles dug into her skin. But her fear was more than her pain. So, she felt nothing.

"Relax, dear. I’ll not fuck you or hurt you, not for another ten minutes at least. I can’t say the same after that. It depends on my mood." Jared’s smile slipped all of a sudden and his gaze became lethal like a venomous snake.

Jared stood up suddenly and Ivy froze in her spot. Her face was sickly pale and she was sweating profusely until her entire shirt was drenched.

"After Maggie left me, after the only woman I ever loved deceived and betrayed me, my mood has never been the same." Jared sauntered towards Ivy slowly, his gaze not moving away from her even for a moment. "I must say I’m impressed though. Not just the men, I now have to be wary of a few women as well. Aria, Valerie, Maggie, and you. Isn’t it amazing?"

Jared’s eyes glinted with evilness and Ivy realized at once what his plan was. While they had assumed him to attack Theo or Grandpa Carter, considering his past records, he had instead chosen to take a path they had never thought about.

Ivy was the first one to be targeted and once Jared was done torturing her, it would be the other ladies’ turns.

"You are smart." Jared praised her all of a sudden, bringing her out of her trance. "You perceived my plan right away. I’m impressed. I must say Noah and Joshua have good eyes and judgment." His eyes genuinely held an appreciation for her. But Ivy was in no state to accept it. He was a cunning hyena and she had to think of a way to escape from him before he ripped her into shreds.

"You have successfully gained my attention, Ivy," Jared commented. "I may let you live. Once I have my way with you." Even though it sounded like a promise, Ivy knew otherwise. He was hellbent on destroying her life and it didn’t matter whether she lived or died once he was done tormenting her.

"Why aren’t you thanking me, Ivy? Aren’t you grateful?" Jared squatted before her and stared at her with mirth in his eyes. "Consider yourself lucky. I’m not usually merciful, not to my enemies at least. Why would I be merciful towards my enemies’ women?"

Jared smiled all of a sudden and Ivy narrowed her eyes, an ominous feeling surrounding her heart immediately. "Ohh, wait!" He exclaimed and clapped his hand once, thrilled at the secret only he knew. "You aren’t with Joshua anymore. Am I right?"

Ivy’s lips parted in shock. ’How did he know? How did he...’

"You two broke up just a few hours ago."

Jared looked at her shocked face and couldn’t control his joy and excitement. This was exactly what he wanted, this was exactly what he had planned for all along.

"And you must be wondering how I know about this matter when no one knows. Am I right?"

Ivy remained silent. Though curious, she didn’t give in and continued to glare at him in hatred. She despised him from the bottom of her heart. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Jared ignored her gaze which was filled with an intense killing intent and continued speaking. "Although I’d love to disclose how I know this, I think it is better you don’t know. It won’t do you any good, anyway."

All of a sudden, a man dressed in complete black entered the place and approached Jared. He bent forward and whispered a few words that Ivy couldn’t hear.

Jared’s expression turned hard and his jaw ticked. He screamed of danger and Ivy trembled when she saw his frenzied state. However, it was all momentary. His expression relaxed the next instant. Eying Ivy softly, he smiled at her widely, making Ivy apprehensive of him.

"Well, I have some good news for you, Ivy." Jared stood up and Ivy’s eyes followed him. "We have some guests and I’m sure you’d love to meet them. Don’t you?"

Ivy’s heart dropped as soon as she heard him and her face blanched in fright. ’Who is it? I hope Jared is just bluffing. Please, please, please, please let it all be a hoax.’ She begged, praying in her heart silently.

"My men will catch them soon and bring them here. I’m sure it will be amazing to play with all of you at the same time." Jared felt utterly happy to see Ivy tremble in trepidation. "This is turning out to be better than I thought."

Jared tilted his head and gave Ivy a mysterious look. "Tell me, Ivy. Are you curious to find out who has sent themselves to their death?"

Ivy didn’t speak again and Jared sighed helplessly.

"Ivy, you can’t remain silent forever, that is unless I killed you of course. But that will not be happening any time soon. Please say something, darling. It pains me to not hear your beautiful voice."

Ivy ignored him and continued to struggle in her chair while Jared observed her, his wicked smile still intact on his face.

"Well, well, well, who do we have here?" He exclaimed and Ivy raised her head before following his line of sight, only to lose her mind completely when she saw the two people he had captured.

"Who knew I’d be fortunate enough to have the two sisters in my place at the same time? Welcome abode, Doctor West." Jared welcomed wholeheartedly. "I hope the journey here was pleasant and you didn’t encounter any trouble."
