False Villain : Anunnaki System vs Demon Contract-Chapter 47 - 044. Am I Nabil ?
Chapter 47: 044. Am I Nabil ?
"Nabil!"
The clone was startled and his body reflexively threw the fish he was holding into the air.
He looked around and found himself in the kitchen and was standing right by a large refrigerator that the sole purpose is to storing their fish supplies.
Nabil’s clone did not realize that he had been daydreaming for several minutes without paying attention to the situation around him.
Zaskia stood beside him with an annoyed expression while Ardi stood not far from them, watching intently even though he had an awkward smile on his face when he saw the annoyed Zaskia.
"What’s wrong with you?!" asked Zaskia who raised her tone of voice.
Nabil’s clone looked at his hand for a moment then looked at Zaskia. "Sorry, I think need to wash my face for a moment."
The clone walked out to a toilet with a slightly pale face and a slightly hunched posture.
"Don’t try to run!" warned Zaskia.
"What’s wrong with him?" asked Ardi, who seemed a bit confused about what had happened since Nabil was not the moody type.
"I don’t know, maybe he’s still traumatized by the mermaids," responded Zaskia who was now back to her duties, organizing the fish they had caught into the refrigerator.
The clone walks towards the small toilet that only 2 x 2 meters. There is only a toilet seat and a bidet in that small room.
But he did not come to urinate or defecate. He just sat, contemplating while bowing his head, recalling what had happened.
He saw his hands trembling as he imagined Nabil’s panicked and frightened face.
He killed Nabil, no one noticed, but soon they would begin to suspect, especially when he himself knew that only the real Nabil had a system, the clones Nabil made were nothing more than Clones, a commodity that could be replaced quickly.
And Nabil was valuable because of that, the ability to duplicate. Without that ability, Nabil was useless, and now...
The clone realized he was coming to the end of his life.
He has no value, no abilities, and most importantly, he is in a world that is now filled with super power users and monsters that come out of nowhere.
He couldn’t leave because as an ordinary human, he was an easy target. He couldn’t stay any longer because without abilities, his life was no better than that of a slave.
"Now what?!" the clone scratched his head in frustration.
No matter what he chose, only a terrible fate awaited him.
He gulped and headed back to the kitchen with a slightly pale face.
Arriving at the kitchen, he was greeted by Zaskia’s angry shout.
"Where have you been?! What took you so long?! It was me and Ardi who finished this task!" complained Zaskia, pointing at the clone’s face.
"Eh... That... Sorry... Hehe..." the clone responded with a slightly awkward tone of voice.
Zaskia washed her hands with lemon juice and soap to get rid of the fishy smell but her annoyance was still not gone.
She sniffed her hands which still had a slight fishy smell. "Ewh, smell of fish." freeweɓnovel-cøm
Zaskia looked at the clone and once again pointed at him. "You have to massage my shoulders as compensation."
----------------------------------------
In a strange situation, now, the clone massaged the shoulders of the woman named Zaskia.
In one of the empty rooms that was supposed to be a place for some system users to rest.
But since that day... The day when the monsters suddenly appeared and was followed by an ambush by the locals who used the help of ( monsters ), since that day, they lost many people.
In the empty room containing a few mattresses and a few wardrobe, Zaskia felt a slight sense of loneliness as she recalled the room that should have been filled with many people.
And there Zaskia was, sitting on the edge of the bed while the clone massaged the woman’s shoulders, without realizing or suspecting for a moment that the person with her was not Nabil.
"Nabil, do you ever regret being here?" Zaskia asked in a rather low tone of voice that sounded so sad.
The clone was surprised and stammered. "Eh... That... Ah... Uh..."
Zaskia raised one of her eyebrows and immediately turned to look at the clone. "What’s wrong with you? Why do you look confused like a headless chicken?"
The clone was silent for a moment, he inhaled and then exhaled heavily. He lowered his head slightly and his hands no longer moved to massage the woman’s shoulders.
"Regret? Confusion?" muttered the clone who recalled the actions he had taken against the real Nabil.
Zaskia sighed and looked forward again. "Maybe you’re just tired. We’re all like that anyway. This whole thing feels like a fantasy story, from the appearance of the man who called himself Gilgamesh to the appearance of that man..."
Zaskia’s eyes narrowed slightly and a look of disgust mixed with fear when she recalled the appearance of Aril who came out of nowhere and destroyed everything.
"...He and that wolf girl weren’t human, they were more like wild beasts," Zaskia continued.
Zaskia paused for a moment and waited for a response from the clone she thought was Nabil, but there was no response at all.
The feeling of silence made Zaskia uncomfortable. It felt too strange.
The clone continued massaging Zaskia’s shoulders. In silence... Neither of them spoke at all...
And the longer it went on, the more Zaskia couldn’t stand it, as if she wanted to explode from the silence.
"Do you ever think that you’re not you?" asked the clone who asked a risky question that made him break out in a cold sweat.
After a while, Zaskia was finally able to chat, but she didn’t like the way things were going.
Why? Just Why?
"Why do you always open the topic with such a heavy statement or heavy question?!" complained Zaskia who suddenly raised her tone of voice which sounded rather annoyed.
The clone was silent, he swallowed his own saliva and his whole body was on alert.
"Alright, I’ll answer it," Zaskia said with both eyelids lowered as if to illustrate how tired she was and both ends of her lips also lowered as if to signify her dislike for the topic.
"Hehehe..." responded the clone who laughed rather awkwardly, but at least he was relieved that he was not suspected.
"I don’t know what you mean when you say (you’re not you), what does that mean? Are you having some kind of identity crisis?" she asked, causing the clone to suddenly freeze in panic.
"So... So... Something like that," replied the clone rather nervously.
Zaskia pondered for a moment, trying to digest the meaning of the question. But when she tried to think about it, she was reminded of memories of being shunned in school.
"I think I understand what you mean," Zaskia said with a rather sad tone of voice and a sullen face. "But what if you’re not you? In the end, you’re the one who decides."
Zaskia hugged her knees as she recalled the bad memories of her school days, when no one wanted to be friends with her. "Other people’s opinions are useless in the end. In the end, you are you. What’s wrong with that?"
The clone fell silent and began to contemplate the meaning of Zaskia’s words.
Zaskia no longer responds and speaks, she just stays pensive while hugging her knees.
It became quiet once again and finally Zaskia decided to end the massage session.
The clone walked out of the room but just before he approached the door, Zaskia grabbed the clone’s shirt.
The clone stared back, at the woman whose face was downcast.
With a tone of voice that was so mellow and soft, Zaskia opened her mouth, "Sorry about earlier."
Zaskia turned her body because she was too embarrassed to look directly at him. But even so, her tone of voice still sounded so small and soft. "At the boat earlier, I didn’t mean to make you remember your parents’ death, I apologize."
The clone did not know what response to give, he did have Nabil’s memories, but those words were not meant for him. But even so, he could not just ignore it.
( In the end, you are you ).
Zaskia’s short sentence rang in the clone’s head and he finally began to understand...
The answer was so clear. Why was he thinking too much?
If he was not Nabil, then he would be Nabil. Those feelings might not be his, those memories might not be his, but even so...
In the end... ( you are you ).
With a sigh of relief, the clone smiled. "No need to think about it."
The clone walked out with a strange sense of optimism.
He walked into a large restroom where there was a mirror and a sink attached to the wall.
The clone smiled at the mirror and his gaze was serious. "Of course, the answer is easy. Even though I’m just a clone, it doesn’t matter in the end. I have the memories, and also the physique. In the end, I am me. I am Nabil!"
[ Ding! ]
A strange event suddenly happened. He received a system notification which was supposed to be impossible because the thing that differentiated Nabil and his clones was that the original Nabil had a system while the clones he made had no system.
And now...
The clone just got a notification...
[ Congratulations! ]
[ You Inherited the Ascidia system. ]
[ Do you want to continue as Nabil? ]
[ Yes ] Or [ No ]
The clone gulped and felt his heart skip a beat.
"Yes..."
