False Villain : Anunnaki System vs Demon Contract-Chapter 68 - 065. A Greater Good or An Obvious Sin?
Chapter 68: 065. A Greater Good or An Obvious Sin?
The residents farmed and raised livestock like normal things. No one suspects that the association performs brutal rituals at night.
Everything looks so peaceful and calm during the day.
Yep, looks peaceful...
In the middle of a sunny day, under a large banyan tree, Reizel sat leaning against the tree while staring blankly into the distance.
"What are you thinking about, Reizel?" Asked Randa who came over to Reizel after helping the villagers build a house.
Reizel sighed heavily. "Lana doesn’t know anything about this, all she knows is that the sacrifice she made was to hide this village. She doesn’t know about the other rituals."
Randa was leaning against the tree, but she decided to lean while standing not sitting. "Do you want her to know?"
Reizel imagined Lana’s smiling face. "Of course not. I don’t want her to see the cruelty of the world today."
"Then, what’s on your mind?"
"I don’t know, the fact that her body is still in a state of pain and weakness. She’s not dead, but I think it’s still wrong."
Randa took a moment to process the conversation. In her mind, she was screaming in panic and confusion, but she tried to remain stoic and finally decided to sit beside her cousin without giving much expression.
"I don’t know if this is right, but I understand your father’s intentions a little. This was all for the benefit of the people and look at what he managed to accomplish. A village hidden from the system users," Randa said.
Reizel sighed once more. "The interests of many people...?"
"I’ve heard uncle Herman’s explanation of what my father was trying to do. Everything makes sense now. It seems like our family does have ties to such things, maybe this is fate," said Randa who tried to comfort her cousin but it seemed that Reizel did not want to accept the fate that Randa meant.
Reizel suddenly stood up. "Sorry, I have to go, it’s time to deliver the food to Lana."
The man walked off, leaving Randa who seemed to have decided to sit under the banyan tree for a while.
Reizel walked towards one of the nearby houses. A house dedicated to making food for his family, including Lana.
"Uh, Reizel. What’s up? Want to eat?" a middle-aged woman immediately greeted Reizel with a smile.
"No, auntie. I just came to get some food for Lana," Reizel replied in a rather low tone of voice, signaling his weariness of the routine.
The middle-aged woman immediately picked up a tray on which was a plate filled with rice, fried eggs and fresh cucumber slices.
"I am grateful to your father for being assigned as a cook. Working in the garden during the day is very tiring," the woman said, trying to make small talk.
Reizel took the tray. "Thank you for cooking this."
"That’s fine. This is the perfect place after all. Ever since those system users came and messed things up, they’re pests."
Reizel forced a smile. "Yeah, hehe... Those system users are pests. Then, please excuse me. I have to deliver this to Lana."
The wavy-haired man carried the tray and hurried to Lana’s room. He entered the empty and dark house. He continued walking until he reached the door that connected the house and Lana’s room separated by a short hallway.
As Reizel opened the door, he began to feel something strange, he rushed through the short hallway and immediately opened the door to Lana’s room.
Reizel was surprised to find Lana struggling and in pain. He immediately let go of the tray and rushed over to his little sister.
"Lana, are you okay?" asked a panicked and confused Reizel.
He didn’t know what to do, he could only hold his sister’s small hand tightly.
Lana looked pale and cold sweat ran down her face. The little girl looked at Reizel with fear in her eyes that were dripping with tears.
"Big brother Reizel, it hurts. It very hurts," said Lana who gripped Reizel’s hand, trying to endure the pain by holding her brother’s hand tightly.
Reizel’s left hand held Lana’s hand while his right hand rubbed Lana’s hair.
"Calm down, everything will be fine, just calm down," said Reizel who tried to calm Lana.
"I... I’m scared..."
*Jrash
Lana exploded, blood sprayed in all directions. Soaking the wall, the mattress and even Reizel’s face who looked so shocked and surprised.
The form that he had recognized as Lana, now turned into a black creature that had the same physical characteristics as humans.
Body like a human body, two arms, two legs. Only, the head is a skull.
A black figure with a skull lying in the middle of a blood clot.
Reizel was too shocked by the fact that his little sister suddenly exploded and turned into a figure he didn’t recognize.
Reizel’s lips trembled as he tried to get a sentence out of his mouth. "L... Lana?"
The black creature’s head moved and looked at Reizel. Without emotion, without thought. The creature seemed to have no soul.
Reizel held the black creature’s hand and stared into the skull’s face. "Lana? Are you Lana?!"
The creature didn’t respond, the black creature just stared at Reizel like a creature that saw the world for the first time.
The man was frozen in place, unable to process what had just happened before his eyes.
"It seems like it’s impossible to stay in human form," said Herman who was standing right behind Reizel.
Reizel turned around and found his father standing behind him.
"What are you talking about? Lana just -"
"Dead, it’s a pity. I really wish she could bear that power," said Herman who immediately cut off Reizel’s sentence.
"SYSTEM ACTIVATED!" An enraged Reizel shouted without a second thought.
He didn’t care anymore, he didn’t want to hide it anymore. All he wanted now was to punch his father in the face.
Reizel jumped forward with enhanced physical strength. He immediately threw his punch at Herman.
*BUK!
Herman blocked the punch with one hand. Once again, Reizel was surprised, but not because his attack was successfully blocked, but because Herman’s hand was covered by something pitch black.
Shadow? Darkness?
Whatever it was, it managed to withstand Reizel’s furious punch.
As Reizel looked into his father’s eyes, he finally understood...
"You’re a system user, Reizel?" Herman looked Reizel right in the eyes.
The eyes that were colored red were burning like hellfire. Herman’s eyes were no longer human eyes and the black things that covered his arms only emphasized that the old man was using power that he shouldn’t have.
"Y... You... That power..." Reizel was frozen in place.
"This kind of power could possibly matches to a system user like you." Herman grinned widely. "Not like your sister."
