Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror-Chapter 43: Slaying
At the summit of Lijing Mountain, a cyan-gray mirror was glowing brightly with white light, and boiling white moonlight gushed out of the mirror surface like water.
When Wan Xiaohua appeared, Li Xiangping and the others entered his divine sense range. The Taiyin Profound Light in the mirror was already itching to strike, but Lu Jiangxian suppressed the impulse to make a move, wanting to see what cards the Yujing Wheel cultivator had up his sleeve.
"Doesn’t seem... too impressive?"
Watching Wan Xiaohua suffer one defeat after another, surrounded by danger, and coerced by that monster into using a pale blue talisman to conjure a shield of water and dash toward the foot of Lijing Mountain, Lu Jiangxian lost interest in watching the show, silently cast a spell, and thought to himself:
"Let’s test the waters with this monster!"
With a thought from Lu Jiangxian, the twelve seal characters around the mirror’s edge lit up one by one, and the cyan-gray mirror, cradling the milky white moonlight, began to levitate slowly from the stone platform, adjusting its angle bit by bit.
"Dad..."
In the astonished gaze of Li Tongya and Li Mutian, the white moonlight burst forth abruptly, shattering the cottage’s skylight, and like a brilliant meteor, it tore through the sky, leaving behind a ground littered with broken stones and scattered gray tiles.
After firing the Taiyin Profound Light, the cyan-gray mirror finally settled down, dispelled the white moonlight, and returned to its place on the stone platform.
Looking at the broken tiles and dust on the ground, Li Tongya didn’t know what to feel for a moment. Li Mutian coughed a couple of times from the dust and waved his hand at him, saying:
"It must be related to that monster... Go and see how your brother is doing!"
Li Tongya, as if awakening from a dream, immediately ran off, thinking to himself:
"How could he be? With such a great commotion, not to mention a Fetal Breathing Realm monster, I’m afraid even a Qi Cultivation Stage monster would have been smashed to pieces."

After Wan Xiaohua struck himself with the Godspeed Technique on his leg, he ran frantically towards the direction of Lijing Mountain indicated by Li Xiangping earlier, while incessantly regretting in his heart:
"Now I’ve really lost out, a water shield talisman gone, plus half a spirit stone." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Wicked winds enveloped his ears, and with a sweep of his spiritual sense, Wan Xiaohua saw a white small shield materialize behind him. Using the force of one strike, he widened the gap between himself and the monster once again.
"This..."
Looking toward the mountain ahead, Wan Xiaohua meant to gauge the distance but was startled to see a dazzling white light suddenly rising from the mountain top. It turned in the air and, with a long trail of flame, sped straight toward Wan Xiaohua.
"Son of a..."
Wan Xiaohua almost spat out a mouthful of blood, hastily sidestepping, but the white beam ignored him and passed by.
He sat down on the ground out of fright, watching the white light cross the neck of the monster, deftly as if it were cutting through a thin sheet of paper, leaving behind a headless wolf corpse that soared into the air.
"Boom!"
The wolf’s body collapsed, and the white beam toppled a row of large trees behind it, disappearing into the distance and causing all the snow in the surrounding forests to fall at once, almost burying Wan Xiaohua in the snow.
"Cough, cough, cough."
Wan Xiaohua, in a sorry state, spat out a few mouthfuls of dusty snow, his eyes wide as he stared at the carcass of the monster, as large as a hill.
"Family Head, Family Head?!"
Calls from Wan Tiancang approached from afar as he rushed over, frantically lifting Wan Xiaohua from the snow and asking repeatedly:
"Family Head! How are you?!"
Wan Xiaohua looked at Wan Tiancang distractedly, murmuring to himself:
"Why use a butcher knife to kill a chicken..."
Wan Tiancang’s face was covered in sweat. He took the vine whip, still with some snow on it, from his bosom and said in a deep voice:
"Tiancang feared losing the treasure and had stayed lurking in the snow, waiting for the wolf demon to chase after the Family Head. When it did, Tiancang picked up the magic artifact."
"Good, good."
Seeing the artifact, Wan Xiaohua snapped back to reality, invigorated, and took the treasure into his arms. He hastily got up and ran toward the wolf corpse.
Seeing that the neck of the corpse was covered in thick frost with not a drop of blood flowing, Wan Xiaohua quickly pressed and slapped at the joints and several major cavities of the wolf corpse to seal the spiritual nature.
"This wolf corpse is a valuable find; its spiritual nature must not be lost."
Wan Xiaohua smiled as he patted the large wolf’s back, speaking cheerfully.
"Family Head, that monster... probably belongs to someone else now."
Wan Tiancang watched as Wan Xiaohua was triumphantly stroking the corpse and reminded him carefully.
Wan Xiaohua’s expression of joy suddenly stalled, and glancing at Wan Tiancang with a low voice, he said:
"I understand."
"Family Head Wan!"
Wan Tiancang and Wan Xiaohua were staring eye to eye when they heard a loud shout; both men hurriedly turned their heads to look—it was Li Xiangping and Li Tongya leading Chen Erniu and a group of village ruffians who had come searching.
"Thank you, Family Head Wan, for coming to our aid!"
Li Xiangping said with a smile, bowing his hands. Chen Erniu caught his glance and quickly called his men to move the body.
"It is we who are embarrassed."
Wan Xiaohua said with a forced smile, shaking the snow off his body, and then inquired:
"I wonder about that Bai Mang who saved Xiaohua..."
Upon hearing this, Li Tongya quickly stepped forward and said:
"My father still has some self-made talismans saved. With the Immortal Master coming from afar to help, he was afraid the beast would harm you, so he had us use them."
"So that’s how it was!"
Wan Xiaohua let out a sigh of relief. Li Tongya’s answer was not much different from what he had anticipated, and with a touch of gratitude, he said:
"Then I must thank your honorable father."
"It is we who should be thanking the Wan Family!"
After exchanging pleasantries for a while, Wan Xiaohua pointed at the beast’s body and said with a laugh:
"I wonder how your clan intends to handle this creature. Although it’s not easy to preserve the body of this wolf demon, it is truly full of treasures. Its bones and blood can be used to make ink and refine medicine, and its fur for making talismans and clothing—it truly is a good thing."
Li Tongya and Li Xiangping looked at each other and said with a wry smile:
"Our family’s foundations are too shallow; crafting talismans and refining medicine are quite difficult for us, and we really don’t have much use for it. Since the Family Head can enter and leave the market, perhaps you could consign it to your clan for sale."
"This wolf demon has a large physique and seems somewhat mystical; it may have swallowed some precious medicine. I won’t deceive you, it could sell for two or three spirit stones in bits and pieces in the market."
Wan Xiaohua pondered for a few moments, glanced at the two who were listening intently, and continued:
"I have one and a half spirit stones on me, which I can give you first, and the rest can be compensated with other items."
"Have you read the ’Miscellaneous Cultivation Secrets’?"
Seeing Li Xiangping and the others shaking their heads, Wan Xiaohua was startled and thought to himself:
"Is Li Mutian truly a Foundation Establishment Cultivator? There might be more to the story..."
But he smiled and said:
"This secret text contains some key points of spells and cultivation insights of a Lingchu Wheel Loose Cultivator. I acquired it for the price of one or two spirit stones in the market. It includes several minor techniques such as the Godspeed Technique and the Spirit Sealing Technique. How about I give them to your clan as compensation?"
Li Xiangping, looking at Wan Xiaohua’s full smile, stroked his chin and contemplated:
"We have no use for the body of this wolf demon either, and it’s said to be difficult to preserve. It might as well be exchanged with Wan Xiaohua, though it might be at a slight loss, as each takes what they need."
So Li Xiangping said with a smile:
"It’s all up to Family Head Wan."
"Good, very good!"
Wan Xiaohua was overjoyed and followed up with:
"Please send someone to transport this body to the border between our two families, and I will call people to collect it."
"Alright."
After chatting for a few more sentences, Li Xiangping looked at the sky and said with a bow of his hands:
"Would Family Head Wan like to sit a while on Lijing Mountain?"
"There’s no need, with many urgent matters at the clan, I must go back now. If there’s anything in the future, just instruct Tiancang to write a letter!"
Wan Xiaohua quickly refused; there were formations on Lijing Mountain. Though the two families seemed to be getting along at the moment, who knew once inside if one could leave? He understood that Li Xiangping was seeing him off, so after exchanging a few more pleasantries, he took his leave.
