Family system-Chapter 158: Runes
Elena POV
Walking through the portal following Freya, we were met with one of the most futuristic homes we had ever seen. We were standing in her front garden, but even that was impressive. Exotic plants and fruits were being grown here, and all of them were cared for by what looked like golems.
"Welcome to my home. I hope you will enjoy yourselves when you stay here." Freya turned to us and welcomed us in. My dragon was in my subspace taking a nap, but she would have loved this place if she were here. The golems were all around the garden, tending to various tasks.
Freya was already walking to the house while we were admiring the garden. "Follow me, ladies. You will see the garden all you like in the coming days, but I still want to finish the preparations." We came out of our stupor and began to follow Freya. The front garden was so big that it took us three minutes at walking speed to reach the front door.

As we walked in, we were met with the grand interior of her home. It was luxurious, and just as outside, everything ran on magic, nothing on electricity. What also caught our attention were the maids and a butler lined up at the front door. "Welcome back, master Freya. And welcome in, guests. My name is Maya, the butler in this house."
Every maid and the butler were women, but that wasn’t what caught my attention. It was their long ears. "Elf’s?" I questioned. It was my first time seeing one, so I didn’t know what to make of it. "Yes, that’s right. These beauties are frost elves." Freya grabbed Maya and pulled her close to her body. Maya visibly blushed as she was close to Freya.
Freya grabbed her chin in the palm of her hand and showed her off to us. "They are beautiful, right? The light blue skin and white hair. They are much better than the sluts Aphrodite brought back." The maid was losing her focus as Freya was touching her. I found it weird because even when Master did it with multiple women at once, they didn’t touch each other with romantic feelings, but it seems it was different here.
I narrowed my eyes as I stared at her actions, and Freya soon caught on to what I was thinking. "You don’t have to worry about that. While these women are beautiful, I am loyal to our master. The reason they get so flustered is that there are only women in their race, so when someone like me plays with them, of course, they are going to get flustered."
Freya explained it as if it were the most normal thing in the world. She let go of Maya and walked further down the hall. Drones were flying around carrying boxes of items, and I thought that maybe that would work on batteries, but I could sense the mana within them.
I could sense a lot of the gravity element, but some wind was also added to it. She probably added it to let it fly in a certain direction. We walked in a straight line for about a minute until we reached the end of the hallway. She opened the door at the end, and it opened up to a massive laboratory.
There were thousands of books on shelves that were flying in the air. The walls were white, and I saw some plans drawn on paper. I began looking around the room and was amazed at its size. While outside, you could see what this was but couldn’t see it inside.
The laboratory was like a wizard tower you see in stories. The only difference between this one and the one in other stories is that this one doesn’t have floors. It’s just one giant opening from the ground to the ceiling. There are things at the same height, like the shelves with books inside them, but you have to fly to get up there.
"Sakura, can you please get everything ready?" Freya said to the space before her. I found it weird that she was talking to no one, but lights suddenly began to shine all around the tower. [Sakura at your service. What can I do for you, master?] A voice sounded through the whole tower but wasn’t too loud.
"Prepare my workbench so I can do the work I have been preparing for the last couple of days." As she said, her surroundings began to change. The whole ground changed colors, and some things began to get out of the ground. We could see a workbench with many items and a special chair.
It looked like a dental chair but had a lot of technology. I could see some heart monitors and screens, but I didn’t know what they meant. When everything was set, Freya turned towards us.
"This is my heaven. This is where I spend all my time when I am not with my master. I research here and can experiment with more dangerous objects because of the barrier around this room. Now come here. I will draw some runes on your body to protect you from the unexpected when you are in the other universe."
She patted the seat, and we walked to it. "Who wants to go first?" I looked at my two sisters. I didn’t just want to be first; I wanted everyone to be happy, and while I was ’leading’ them just now, I just a front we put up in front of other people. We are still good friends and only compete for our husband’s attention.
"You should go first. We will wait for you." Valentina now had her usual attitude and was not annoyed when with Aphrodite. She really hates being with her, and I understand why because she stole from me as well, but because we are sister wives, I punished her lightly for raiding me.
Isabella nodded to me, and I walked over to Freya and sat in the chair. When I made myself comfortable, Freya looked over at me. "Are you ready?" I nodded at her words while looking at her. "Perfect." Freya pressed a button on the chair, and suddenly, my arms and legs were bound to the chair.
I panicked and tried to move them, but I couldn’t get out of the shackles. "What is this?" I asked. When I couldn’t break through, I calmed myself and waited for Freya to explain herself. "You don’t have to worry so much. This is to keep you from moving too much."
Freya had a frightening expression on her as she looked at me with interest as if I were some lab rat that she could experiment on as she wished. Valentina and Isabella also wanted to get closer, but they were stopped by what looked like a barrier. "Do I have to summon Ashen?" I asked while looking right into Freya’s eyes.
Ashen was my cute dragon. The dragon that chased Aphrodite and beat her black and blue. I saw Freya’s grin vanish and be replaced with a panicked look for a second. "Now, now. No need to involve a primordial dragon." Freya loosened the grip around my arms and legs.
"I know that I didn’t need to summon him. She should be enough." I looked over at Isabella, who had summoned Sköll. Sköll was the name that Isabella had chosen for her wolf. The world had a mysterious origin, but we knew it came from the same place Freya came from, and they knew each other.
The wolf was looking at Freya with a look that questioned if she wanted to do this, and you could see Freya dissolving the barrier. "I forgot that master spoils you girls too much." Freya had an aggrieved look, and she looked a bit dejected. "I know he does, but will you draw those runes?"
I was getting impatient sitting in this chair for no reason. Freya’s face began to get more serious. "Of course. Let’s begin." She said before activating her magic. Blue light began to shine from the tip of her fingers, and she waved them over me. She let her hands stay above my body while thousands of smack magic circles shone from her hand.
I could feel the danger from those circles. While individually harmless, they become dangerous because Freya is combining them. I could see the different types of resistance she was drawing over my body and the counterattack and attack spells she was writing.
The process is delicate; if one wrong move is made, this place could explode. After six full hours of sitting there, she had drawn runes on my body. She slummed on her chair, exhausted. "Finally, done. You can now be reassured that you are safer than before. Let me rest for a bit, and then I will get it for the rest of you.
