Fantasy Lord: Beginning with Daily Intelligence-Chapter 216 - 153: The Eagle Spreads Its Wings, The Road Lies Beneath Our Feet (Part 2)
"If we can get through this, our Eagle Merchant Association will surely rise."
As Rajos nodded, Thor looked at everyone, his calm voice resonating.
"Thor, understood!"
"Understood!"
The remaining eleven people nodded one after another.
With this, their expressions involuntarily took on a flush of excitement.
As if they had already seen a brighter future.
After everyone nodded, Thor once again discussed some association matters with them.
Only then did this meeting truly come to an end.
Afterward, one Pioneer Lord after another quickly left.
On the Maine Alliance’s side, many Knights also began to depart.
Next, it was time for the Eagle Merchant Association to spread its wings.
Thor even, three days later, after dealing with some affairs in the Eagle Territory, left with Pelos and Anna, heading west.
On one hand, he needed to personally oversee the expansion of the Eagle Merchant Association to prevent any problems from arising.
On the other hand, Thor hadn’t forgotten the Elf Girl mentioned in the daily reports a few days ago.
With Anna accompanying him, Thor was particularly eager to meet the Elf Girl.
If he could recruit another Elf Girl, his territory’s development could accelerate to a new stage.
Allen’s Affinity for All Things had limited effects on plant growth; if he could have a Forest Elf join as well, the territory’s yield would undoubtedly increase rapidly.
For this reason, he brought Anna along.
After all, Anna was a Half-Elf herself; perhaps she knew the Elf Maiden, which could be somewhat helpful.
As for the Campbell Family.
Thor didn’t really worry about them too much.
Nowadays, he had significant backing.
The Campbell Family was just a Top-level Marquis; to the former Dressrosa, it was a giant, but to the current Dressrosa Family, it was just manageable.
And just as Thor was heading to the Western Territory.
In the West, the members of the Eagle Merchant Association had already begun to take action.
More than a month had passed, and those powerful Lords planning to withdraw were becoming increasingly anxious, with some already having fled.
Out of twenty-seven Lords, three had already escaped while discussing amongst themselves.
Only twenty-four remained.
Thankfully, those Lords who possessed vast resources hadn’t completely retreated yet.
For such colossal beings, withdrawal wasn’t easy.
Especially since all-out conflict hadn’t erupted yet, they held onto a glimmer of hope, wondering if they could further minimize their losses.
But as time progressed, other Lords began to realize something was amiss.
Cleaning up became increasingly challenging.
They were forced to repeatedly lower their prices.
But even so, there were fewer and fewer willing to take over.
Middle reaches of the Danube River.
This place was the core location of the Danube River, where the Spencer Family had been developing for over ten years, receiving significant support from Sedge Spencer’s father.
In just over ten years, the entire territory reached nearly a hundred thousand people, and its strength unprecedented, even surpassing most Viscounts of the Inland Province.
If not for insufficient merit, he wouldn’t just have a chance at being a Viscount, but even a Count was within reach.
However, the sudden Divine Revelation event forced Sedge Spencer to choose to withdraw.
But with a substantial amount of material and Gold Coins invested in the territory, he was reluctant to let go, so for the past month, he had been clearing out the territory’s assets.
Initially, things went smoothly.
But as time went on, it became increasingly difficult.
Inside the castle.
"Damn it!"
"Are those fools insane, selling everything? Are they trying to let everyone know we’re fleeing?"
"Idiots!"
Sedge Spencer cursed, his expression particularly unsightly at this moment.
He never expected that the biggest issue in clearing up was actually those people planning to flee alongside him.
If not for them, he could have cleared a large portion by now.
But their inclusion meant he had cleared less than ten percent.
To clear everything, it would take at least more than half a year.
If he waited that long, the Divine Revelation might have already arrived.
His father had already said that he needed to withdraw by the end of this month at the latest; otherwise, unexpected events could occur, and he was running out of time.
"Knock knock!"
Amidst his fury, there was a gentle knock on the door.
"Come in!"
Suppressing his anger, Sedge Spencer spoke.
Soon, a Knight entered.
"My Lord, Lord Jerry from the Dressrosa Family requests an audience!"
The Knight spoke respectfully.
"Jerry, what’s he doing here?"
"I won’t see him!"
Sedge Spencer frowned, instinctively refusing.
He had no reason to give face to the Dressrosa Family.
"Yes!"
The Knight respectfully answered and was about to leave.
But before he could, he was called back by Sedge Spencer.
"Wait!"
"Bring him to the drawing-room!"
Sedge Spencer spoke, his eyes flickering.
"Yes!"
The Knight was a bit puzzled but quickly responded.
Outside the main gate.
Jerry was soon escorted into the castle.
"Honored Dressrosa friend, welcome!"
Seeing Jerry, Sedge Spencer greeted with a smile.
"Lord Sedge, I hope my unexpected visit hasn’t disturbed you."
Jerry also smiled as he spoke, followed by a brief embrace.
"My friend, your visit is the most pleasant thing; how could it be a disturbance?"
Sedge Spencer replied with a smile.
"I thought so."
"Especially, my friend, Lord Sedge, once you know why I’m here, you might be even happier."
Jerry smiled.
"Oh?"
"My friend, that’s truly something to look forward to."
Sedge Spencer’s eyes brightened with anticipation as he spoke.
"Lord Sedge, are you currently selling slaves?"
Jerry asked with a smile, getting straight to the point.
"Oh, indeed?"
"My friend, you know I have too many slaves; are you interested?"
"You should know, mine are the finest slaves, and not from those vampires at the Habbs Commerce Association; they are extremely reasonably priced, only ten Silver Coins each."
Hearing Jerry’s words, Sedge Spencer’s eyes truly lit up, speaking with a smile.
"No, no, my friend."
"You might have misunderstood!"
Jerry smiled and shook his head, his words gentle.
"Oh, my friend?"
"What is misunderstood?"
Sedge Spencer asked with confusion, looking at Jerry.
"A few months back, the Northern Province encountered a Beastman raid, and each Beastman Tribe left behind a peculiar Sheepskin Scroll depicting the Titan’s Text. Fortunately, our Dressrosa Family has someone who can decipher Titan’s Text. My friend, it’s fascinating; all those Sheepskin Scrolls recorded the same content."
Jerry smiled as he spoke, his gaze on Sedge Spencer.
What a joke, ten Silver Coins per slave—was he crazy, or was Sedge Spencer crazy? The slave price in the West had already dropped to two or three Silver Coins each.
