“5,000 Galleons at least—more would be better and allow me to buy higher-quality materials,” Fannlok states, looking a bit embarrassed.

That is… quite a lot, but WAY LESS than I expected! Better make sure that guy has access to the best materials, so the bow gets restored to its original grade. I better keep 500 Galleons for safety though… he can have the rest!

“I’ll make you a deal. Take all my Galleons—that’s around 9,000—and do your best to repair it. As I said, your reward is to learn about those runes. If you bought the best available materials, keep the rest, and maybe give me a few of your works you don’t need. While not something I’d personally use, I’d still gladly accept a few of these works—weapons, armor, whatever you have left and can afford to give away.”

This way, I’ll get rid of my Galleons and obtain a bunch of decent weapons & armor pieces! I need those for rank upgrading, and of course, I can always just sell them in the Realm! This is probably the smartest approach. I get the best quality, and the rest of the Galleons are converted into items. Still, with 500 Galleons, I’m not dirt poor, and Lucius should probably feel a bit ashamed and send me at least some money after our business is done.

“Human, didn’t you just mock my works?!” Fannlok asks in confusion.

“Can I be honest? They’re pretty good; I’m just very picky, hehe. I know quite a few people at home who’d like a weapon like that. Honestly, they’re decent. Just compared to the bow, they are…”

“Incomparable, of course. I see, human. Fine, I’m willing to accept this deal. I’ll do my best to repair it, and I’ll keep the rest and give you a few of my works in return. I work on a commission basis, so these works are all not much better than the one you saw. Still, if you’re fine with that, we have a deal,” Fannlok states.

“Sure, let’s do it. How long will the repairs take?” Alex asks the old goblin.

“I’ll begin to buy the materials immediately. I’ll only need a few days, maybe a week!” Fannlok smugly states, looking extremely proud.

“Days…maybe a week? what do I do….” Alex wonders aloud.

Fannlok strokes his chin musing: “What do you even do as a job? The letter mentioned you’re a mercenary, right? Stay here and do some jobs. There are always goblins in need of hired hands. Many of our brethren have forgotten how to obtain things by themselves and can only rely on coin. A mercenary like you is always welcome.”

Hey, that sounds like a big opportunity!

Alex, still in thought responds in an unsure tone, “that’s… not a bad idea. I need to inform my friends, though, and I’m not sure I’m allowed to stay here. I’m here on a license just for today—damn that annoying Wizarding Ministry.”

“This is goblin territory! You can stay as long as you want if I’m vouching for you, which I’ll obviously do. These wizards can’t do a thing here! Let me call Gnornuk so he can send an owl for you. If it’s time to leave, you don’t even need to enter Diagon Alley and can use the fireplace in Gringotts, which is also connected to the Floo Network,” Fannlok explains.

“Great! Let’s do it!” Alex says, seeing this as an interesting opportunity. He hands over his [Magoroth’s Legacy (Damaged)] with a worried expression.

“Don’t worry, human. I am not a thief, and I have already sworn a magic oath not to divulge your secrets,” Fannlok says as if reading Alex’s thoughts.

“Thanks,” Alex responds, his worries eased a little.

[Side Quest Offered

Mission: Successfully collect Debts from Nagruk, Oggrik, and Nabulk and deliver the full amount of 5258 Galleons, 6 Sickles, and 16 Knuts to Malluk.

Reward: 1 Galleon

Time Limit: 24 hours

Failure: 1000 Galleons]

“You… nasty goblin, do you think I’m a total idiot?! Collect three separate debts within 24 hours, despite me not knowing if these people are even here, or maybe they’ve fled somewhere else? And if I fail, I have to pay you 1,000 Galleons? This is the worst offer I’ve ever seen, and all that for a single Galleon. I wipe my ass with a Galleon. Fuck off!”

[Side Quest Rejected]

Alex walks away angrily.

“Wait, human!!! Just one question,” the rejected goblin, Malluk, runs after Alex, questioning him.

“What is it?!”

“... Where do you usually take care of your… business?” Malluk asks with a greedy expression.

“...”

I need to leave before I slaughter another goblin and land in front of a court again!

Two Days… I’ve earned 27 Galleons doing nothing but shitty tasks for greedy goblins. This is a huge waste of time! At this rate, I can just train my Nen, borrow a simple bow, and do some archery. I expected something more… epic… not just fetch quests and threatening a greedy goblin here and there to collect debts or various items.

What?!

Looks like Jewel and the others are hunting while I’m wasting my time here! This was a huge mistake. Looks like the little princess is growing stronger. Every stat increased by two, and all skills leveled up? Not bad!

Sigh, let’s wait at the forge; it’s only a couple more days.

As Alex walks through the impressive goblin town back toward Fannlok’s forge, he’s suddenly stopped by a bunch of armored goblins wearing impressive armor and exquisite-looking sabers.

They look kinda cool!

Alex tries to walk around them, but they block his path.

They want something from me? I didn’t do anything bad this time!

“... Can I help you?” he asks, slightly confused.

“Our lord, the mighty Mayor Niguk, wishes to speak with you, human. Your reputation is quickly spreading. We need your help collecting debts!”

Not again……

Alex sighs. “I’m sorry, but this little business of collecting debts hasn’t panned out the way I thought it would.”

“Hehe, we’re not talking about collecting small amounts, no… trust me, human. If you’re worth the coin, this will be a huge opportunity. You don’t want to miss it!” the guard retorts with a laugh.

Interesting. Well, I might give debt collecting one more try then!

Alex follows the guards to the very top, entering a large mansion that almost looks like a small medieval keep.

He notices many statues, ornaments, and an overall nicely decorated mansion. He even spots a few female goblins dressed in colorful dresses, obviously working for the owner of this mansion.

Wow, the mayor, was it? Damn, he has style… but the female goblins are still kinda hairy and ugly… The female goblins I imagined were looking way hotter than… those.

Alex is led into a large hall filled with countless battle-ready goblins. He also spots a few hooded figures, obviously wizards.

“That’s the mercenary? I heard he’s got equipment even Fannlok is gushing about,” an arrogant goblin says, approaching Alex, clearly intrigued by his connection to Fannlok.

“Human, I only recently heard about your exploits. I’m currently organizing a raid on a bunch of imbecile wizards who reneged on their debts. They’re somewhere out in the wild, in an old castle. I asked them nicely to pay their debts… not once, but TWICE! Can you believe it?

“Dreadful…” Alex responds, quite confused.

“This can’t be left unanswered. We’ll raid their castle and seize anything of value. If you’re looking for work, I’ll pay you. 500 Galleons and a bonus, depending on how things go. Are you in? You need to decide now, human. The raid will begin in a few hours, once the Portkey is active.” The Mayor explains

[Side Quest Offered

Mission: Help Mayor Niguk, by supporting the raid on

Reward: 500 Galleons, ???

Time Limit:

Failure: Negative Reputation with Mayor Niguk & the goblins, Possible expulsion from Gringotts and the underground city]

I’m just a small cog in this operation. 500 Galleons are nearly worthless to me. Should I take that risk? Also, I get the feeling we’re being used as expendable pawns, ready to be used as a distraction or as sacrifices. Anyway, even if I get kicked out, Fannlok will still find a way to deliver that bow to me, so I don’t have to be the mayor’s pawn. I’d better demand more details or reject this mission. However… this seems almost like too concidental… Fannlok… can I trust him?

“... This is a bit surprising. No offense, Mayor, but I’d need more information! A castle in the wild? I’d say that sounds a bit strange… almost like they’re vampires, huh? Also why do you need human mercenaries when you got hundreds of mighty goblins around?” Alex responds, surprised and frankly confused, not expecting something this urgent to happen.

“There may be quite a few Vampires inside the castle. You wizards have different skillsets, we’d rather be safe than sorry. Of course our targets are vampires. Filthy vampires AND wizards! Anyway, that’s why I’m not even trying to demand my money back for a third time, no they’ll pay with blood! We’ll raze down their castle and take everything they’ve got,” Mayor Niguk states boldly, and the goblins—and even a few hired human mercenaries begin to cheer.

Alex feels the cheers infecting him, a sort of confidence and positive feeling bubbling up. Without much thought Alex responds, not even realizing why.

“You know what? I’m in!” Alex says with a determined face.

[Side Quest Accepted]

I… why did I accept this easily? … Well you gotta take risks sometimes… also, I’m confident in running away! I guess that’s fine… I just have a bad feeling.

Alex waits in the hall inside the mayor’s house, talking with a few goblins and mercenaries who wildly throw around possible strategies, clearly not seeing this mission as much of a challenge.

This looks like a chaotic raid. This almost seems like it’s out of pure hatred from the mayor. I don’t have a good feeling about this. We need a leader and a plan, or else we’ll simply walk into a trap and get ambushed Also, 500 Galleons just to join as a member? We have around 10 humans and hundreds of goblins. Do they owe that much money? This seems almost too good and easy to be true.

Suddenly, the mayor announces: “The Portkey is ready! Human friends, you have the honor of going first, thus gaining the opportunity to earn more spoils and rewards! This is a sign of our respect!”

Are you fucking kidding me?!
