Chapter 1212: Chapter 670: Sword Centipede_3

This truly hit Gaven’s soft spot. His own strength didn’t match the Pillaging Destructive Arms; when merely using these arms for attacks during a confrontation, his strength indeed was thirty-three points (with the two-point bonus from his large body type).

However, when it came to a contest of physical strength, it was calculated based on Gaven’s own body, including both inherent and external bonuses. His own strength did not even reach thirty points, putting him at no advantage against any single Giant Werewolf, let alone being simultaneously held by two.

The two Hunting Lords did not attempt to attack; they were just desperately holding Gaven down, leaving the assault to the ambusher.

Even if the neuro-paralysis toxin had no effect, its Attack Power was not to be underestimated. At the very least, the Damage Reduction of the Combat Armor could not completely fend it off. Although each slice only left a thin and deep wound, causing five or six points of damage, its astonishing attack speed caused Gaven’s health bar to visibly drop, and even the Regeneration Necklace with ten points of regenerative ability was struggling to keep up.

Arms Fusion.

Gaven activated the seemingly most useless ability of the Pillaging Destructive Arms, allowing them to be infused with Divine Power and enhance his own arms.

The two Hunting Lords, who had mainly been using their arms to capture and bind, found their control over Gaven greatly reduced and completely exposed themselves when the primary subject of their grasp vanished, leaving themselves wide open and vulnerable right before him.

In this world, there are no useless abilities; it all depends on how the wielder uses them.

Arm of Plunder.

Destructive Arm.

How could Gaven miss such a golden opportunity? Casting aside the War Ravager, Death Roar, and Crown Shield, he used his unbelievably robust arms to grasp the left arm of the Hunting Lord to his left and mercilessly thrust his True God Beast Claw into the Hunting Lord’s body.

The berserk power of destruction surged into the victim’s body and exploded, blowing open the torso, sending ribs and breastbones flying, exposing the massive, gruesomely mangled red heart.

Gaven’s other hand, wrapped in the power of plunder, grasped the heart and with a slight exertion, ruthlessly yanked it out from the Hunting Lord’s body.

This was a classic double critical hit. Even a Troll renowned for its terrifying regenerative abilities would have to fall into a death-like state, needing lengthy self-healing. Obviously, this Hunting Lord did not have such an ability and died instantly on the spot.

One-time Animal Companion (Special Ability) — You have plundered the Animal Companion that this Hunting Master had carefully trained for years, turning it to your service. It will obey your commands and fight for you. Once this Animal Companion dies, you will lose this Special Ability. You only possess the ability to control it, unable to enhance it as Druids do, and it can’t grow stronger with the advancement of your Professional Level.

The Pillaging Destructive Arms proved its worth again, bestowing upon Gaven a new ability, which turned out to be one of the Druid’s signature abilities.

However, this type of plunder was not omnipotent, powerful enough to strip a Profession of its Professional Abilities, especially the Druid’s Animal Companion, akin to the Mage’s Arcane Familiar or the Psychic Sorcerer’s Spirit Crystal Servant. Their strength comes from their masters infusing a part of their soul and Professional Strength into them, growing stronger with the advancement of their Professional Level.

If Gaven refused to make this sacrifice, let alone the Animal Companion, even already crafted Spirit Crystal Servants would have to be destroyed and reabsorbed into one’s soul.

The Animal Companion he now possessed through plunder was already fully developed by this fallen Hunting Leader, equivalent to having a part of the leader’s Soul infusion, naturally coming with the flaw of being unable to grow and losing the ability upon death.

When the Hunting Leader died, the frenzied attacks from behind promptly stopped, and it established a psychic link with Gaven.

That ambush was the Hunting Lord’s Animal Companion.

Only then did Gaven have the leisure to take a good look at the ambusher that had almost brought him to the brink of disaster.

With a red head and black back, a flat body divided into a dozen segments, each bearing a sharp claw, it was unmistakably a centipede.

But this centipede was exceptionally large, measuring four meters in length, thicker than an adult’s thigh. Most distinctive were its claws, flat and metallic, like short swords. Gaven had already experienced their might firsthand, his Combat Armor slashed as if it were a sieve. Ordinary people would stand no chance, and even warriors in Heavy Armor would be chopped into pieces by its numerous sword-like claws with a simple leap and slash.

Sword Centipede.

It was not a natural creature but a magically-bred one, difficult to reproduce in nature—not for lack of fertility, but rather due to its scarcity of mates.

The breeding process of Sword Centipedes was utterly brutal, akin to gu cultivation, requiring tens of thousands of giant bugs to kill each other off, only to produce one centipede.

Nature-revering Druids would never resort to such measures, only the followers of Magla who embrace the Survival of the Fittest or similar twisted Druids would employ such methods.

This was the unique distinction of Meira’s Followers; despite being despised by the Natural Deities, they possessed the ability to have Animal Companions like Druids, enhancing them with their Professional Level.

This demonstrated nature’s inclusivity as well as the fact that Druid powers didn’t originate from the Natural Deities but from nature itself. The hunting doctrine that Magla’s Followers venerated represents the furious aspect of nature, an essential part of the natural world, with its own value of existence.

The Sword Centipede was as savage when it was assaulting Gaven as it was devilish when turned against Meira’s Followers.

Its slaughter speed was not far behind the Six-armed Snake Demon, especially when facing enemies far weaker than itself.
