Chapter 41

~Jade’s POV~

Xavier crouched the moment I reached him. His hands slid into javelin’s fur carefully, almost reverently, fingers sinking into the thick blue strands at her neck.

The contact sent a ripple through me like warmth. Something that made Javelin lean into him instead of away.

His touch was comforting, as if he had known me for far longer than he should have. He stroked along my head and down my back, and without thinking, I allowed it. Javelin allowed it.

Then he did something none of us expected. Xavier rested his forehead gently against mine.

The contact stilled everyone.

I felt Xade’s sharp inhale. Xander’s posture shifted. Even my own breath caught inside the bond. Javelin did not pull away. She held his gaze, like it was natural.

Xander cleared his throat, breaking the tension. The sound snapped me from my reverie. "That is enough," he said evenly. "Let us leave. She needs to change back."

Xavier did not move immediately. His hand lingered in Javelin’s fur for half a second too long before he finally pulled away. Reluctance flickered across his face, but he rose without argument. Xade gave me one last lingering look, softer now, and then they were gone.

The door shut. I exhaled through the bond, tension draining from me. Javelin sighed contentedly.

"You like him?" I asked.

"I love him already."

My lips would have curved if I had been in control of them. "Okay. It is time to change. They are waiting."

"Or you are waiting to see them again."

My memory betrayed me instantly, flashing back to the moment they stepped out of the pool in nothing but their swimming boxers, water trailing down skin. Heat warmed my thoughts.

Javelin chuckled. "I saw that too."

"Shut up and change," I muttered.

The shift back was quicker, smoother. Within a minute I stood in my own skin again, breathing hard but steady. I dressed quickly and stepped out.

All three of them looked up. I avoided their eyes at first and quietly took my seat.

Xander exhaled, folding his hands together. "We have decided."

So quick? I thought, arching a brow internally.

"Henceforth, you will shift daily and remain in that form for forty minutes to get your wolf accustomed to you," Xander declared.

"You will walk or run and strengthen your bond. You will train in that form to awaken the full potential of your lycan abilities. After that, you will spar with me. Strategy lessons with Xavier. Psychological evaluations with Xade. And at times, training from all three of us."

Simply put, my comfort zone was gone, and the coming months would not be easy. Well, nothing in my life has become easy since I discovered who I really am.

"Do you agree?" Xander asked.

I lifted my chin, meeting their eyes one after the other and something warm filled me. "I do."

Xander was true to his words, the next coming hours of that day, I was busy with one training or the other.

But that wasn’t what made my weekend lovely or hard. It was coming back home on Friday evening to see... Kael.

"Kael?"

"In the flesh, little one."

He turned around, his blue eyes flickering with excitement when he saw her. Kael’s lips pulled back as he raked a hand through his blond hair, leaving it messy.

"Who missed me?"

I scoffed a laugh and rushed into the dining room. He set his cup down just in time to receive me into his arms.

"That’s my girl," Kael chuckled as he lifted me off the ground and spun me around.

After like a minute, he set me down, stepped back and let his eyes rake over me from head to toe like a big brother who hadn’t seen his little sister in a while. "You... you’ve grown, little one. Not so little anymore, right?"

"Nope."

We hugged again, and this time he smelt my hair.

I felt Kael stiffen, then withdrew and looked at me. "Tell me, little one, why do you smell like the famous Alpha Triplets?"

~Xavier’s POV~

We all had a day, something we never had anticipated. And now that Jade was gone, the dining hall felt different after she left.

We had all showered and changed, yet Jade’s scent still lingered faintly in the air. I couldn’t get her wolf out of my mind, nor what it meant either.

Xander stood at the head of the long table, hands braced against the polished wood. I was cooking, but our minds all seemed to be elsewhere.

Xade leaned back in his chair, boot resting against the table leg, staring at nothing in particular. I poured myself a drink I did not intend to finish while the silence stretched.

Xade exhaled sharply. "I am going to poke the elephant in the room and ask the question we are all avoiding."

Xander did not look up. "Go on."

"A blue wolf?" Xade’s brows lifted. "Not only is she a Lycan Princess, she has one of the rarest wolves in all history."

I leaned back slowly, folding my arms. The image of Javelin stepping out of the water flashed in my mind. The way her fur shimmered like twilight. The way she leaned into my touch as if it was instinct.

"Guess surprise got thrown out the window when she was mated to all three of us," Xander said dryly.

Xade huffed. "True. But now I realise how scared she must have been to show her wolf. To her ignorant peers, she would be seen as different. And being a blue wolf comes with more than stares."

He looked at me.

"It shows peace," I said quietly. "Power. Touched by the Moon Goddess to bring calm and healing to those around her."

I had felt it. The moment my forehead touched hers, something inside me had stilled. The constant hum of responsibility. The sharp edge of instinct. It quieted.

"One of the qualities of a true Luna wolf," Xander added.

Xade straightened slightly. "Isn’t the True Luna supposed to come with a red wolf?"

"Have you seen a red wolf?" Xander countered calmly. "Or heard of one outside of myths? It is a legend."

"And so was a blue wolf until now," Xade replied. "Our mate is special, and she ought to stay so. I doubt we want anyone finding out."

His gaze flickered between us.

"And by anyone," I asked carefully, "do you mean including her father? The King?"

That landed heavily. None of us answered immediately. We were tasked with protecting her, and well, by protecting her, we ought to let him know the possible danger she could be in if not kept safe.

But it wasn’t ours to tell.

Xander’s jaw tightened. Xade’s fingers tapped against the table once before stilling. The King was powerful, yes. But power came with fear. And fear made men dangerous, like her Uncle.

I dragged a hand over my face and sighed. "She calmed the emotions inside me when she shifted. Did any of you feel it?"

"I felt calm," Xade admitted slowly. "But are you sure it was not because her wolf was out and ours managed to... sync?"

He lifted his palms slightly, as if searching for the right explanation.

"Maybe," I conceded. "But there is more to it. I have never felt that kind of quiet before. It was almost as if my whole being was at..."

"Peace," Xade finished for me.

I sighed, nodding. "Yeah."

Xander finally straightened, placing both hands on the table. "Which brings us to the real question." He looked at me, then at Xade. "When are we going to tell her about the curse? We had a chance earlier today, and we did not take it."

The word lingered in the air. Curse.

Was that the storm she quieted? Didn’t this mean she could break our curse?

Xade shook his head immediately. "Not now. It would scare her. She is still adjusting to us, to the bond, to shifting. Let us win her one step at a time, like you said, Xander."

Before Xander could say anything, his body stiffened, and his hand flew to his temple, followed by an agonising groan.

I felt it a second later.

A sharp, violent pressure crashed into my skull like something trying to split it open from the inside. My breath caught. The glass in my hand shattered against the floor as I gripped the edge of the table.

Xade cursed under his breath, doubling slightly as the same pain tore through him. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

It was not a normal headache. It was the curse.

Our vision blurred red before clearing. When I forced my eyes open fully, the world had shifted in hue.

I could feel my wolf surging closer to the surface, restless and agitated. Xander lowered his hand slowly. His eyes glowed crimson.

So did mine and so did Xade’s.

"Fuck," Xade breathed.

My jaw tightened as the familiar darkness coiled inside my chest, and I looked at my brothers. "It is happening."
