Fierce Daddy: His Million-Dollar Sweetheart-Chapter 607: Leave It to Me!
Leon’s father, holding the paternity test report, approached Serena Norton, happily saying, "Serena, look at this, it’s a paternity test report stating the confirmed parent-child relationship..."
Serena had met Leon’s father while studying abroad. Her English was excellent, and she was quite popular and a beauty at the foreign school, so she understood the paternity test report. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Serena, did you know? This paternity report, I took your hair and had Leon take it to the hospital. He... he is the child you lost back then." Tears welled up in Leon’s father’s eyes as he continued, "It’s all my fault. I was so careless back then, letting that awful doctor take Leon away, making you grieve for so many years. I’m truly despicable."
Leon’s father was full of self-blame, yet he didn’t notice that Serena’s gaze hadn’t changed at all. She continued to look at the fake baby in her arms, as if she couldn’t hear Leon’s father, softly humming a lullaby.
Leon Keane watched, frowning slightly. Serena’s condition might be worse than he had imagined.
"Serena, don’t hold the fake baby. Look at Leon, he is our son!" Leon’s father reached out, trying to take the fake baby from Serena’s arms, but she swatted his hand away.
"Don’t touch my child," Serena screamed at Leon’s father.
"Serena." Seeing Serena lose control, Leon’s father’s fingers trembled slightly. He didn’t dare to provoke her further, feeling heartache to the point of being unable to breathe. He thought that perhaps upon seeing the paternity test report, Serena would at least glance at Leon, something surprising might happen. He didn’t dare to hope for too much, just a little would be enough to make him overjoyed, but nothing happened—Serena’s state remained unchanged.
"Leon is truly our son." Leon’s father’s voice was hoarse, tinged with weeping, his eyes filled with tears, feeling a sense of helplessness. He waved to Leon again, "Leon, come here, let your mother get a good look at you."
Leon moved to his father’s side while Serena kept retreating.
"Serena, don’t be afraid. He really is your child. Leon, call her mom!" Leon’s father spoke anxiously.
"She’s not ready yet, let’s give her some time."
Leon Keane placed an arm around his father’s shoulder, gently patting him to calm him down. The more one rushed Serena, the more it wouldn’t work. Over the years, she had become accustomed to immersing herself in the world she created; bringing her out wouldn’t be something that could be achieved overnight.
"Alright." Leon’s father lowered his head, tears falling to the ground instantly. He made great efforts to control his emotions, holding back his sobs, fearing they might frighten Serena.
Watching his father, Leon’s heart was mixed with emotions. He had never seen this side of his father. He had always thought of him as cold-blooded, ruthless, irresponsible, not realizing his father could also be so vulnerable and weeping.
The resentment and hatred Leon once had towards his father disappeared without a trace at this moment.
"Hello, Ms. Norton, my name is Leon Keane. I’m not a bad person, nor will I harm you or your baby. You don’t need to be afraid, come over and sit down!" Leon spoke to Serena, who had retreated to the corner of the wall.
Serena shook her head, unwilling to come over.
"I understand, you care for your baby deeply, but holding them like this will tire them out too. It’s more comfortable for the baby to be placed on the lap or in a cradle." Regular communication seemed futile with Serena.
Upon hearing this, Serena seemed to understand. She found the nearest chair, sat down, and placed the fake baby on her lap.
At nightfall.
Leon Keane didn’t leave but stayed over.
After Serena fell asleep, Leon’s father talked with Leon until midnight. He learned that Leon had gotten officially registered with Ivana Monroe and they had a son together, with another child on the way, leaving him overjoyed.
Leon’s father, again feeling guilty, said, "All these years, I’ve been abroad taking care of your mom, even missing your wedding. Ian and Timmy haven’t met yet either. I’m really sorry for all of you."
Leon held his father’s hand. "Dad, no need to feel guilty. You’ve done really well. Ivana will understand you, and so will Ian and Timmy. They are kind and sensible."
Tears streamed down Leon’s father’s face. A moment later, he thought of something. "Leon, you said your wife is pregnant; I have an unreasonable request."
"Dad wants to bring your mom back to live with you all, and when Ivana gives birth, Dad hopes... Dad hopes Ivana can help reenact what happened back then, perhaps to stimulate your mom and help her recover."
Back then, if he had taken a look at the "body" of the child in the nurse’s arms, the tragedy wouldn’t have happened. Suppose time could be reversed, returning to the scene back then, and he did that, Serena might believe the child didn’t die, thus she wouldn’t be constantly holding a fake baby. She would want to find her living child.
Thinking this method might work, Serena might truly get better. Leon’s father was excited, yet a bit worried as he looked at Leon, unsure if Leon would agree to such an excessive request?
Leon didn’t immediately agree but instead said, "I’ll call her tomorrow to discuss it."
He wished dearly for his biological mother to recover, but he also wanted to respect Ivana’s decision.
The next day.
Leon called Ivana, sharing everything with her without reservation.
Ivana was utterly shocked, realizing that Leon’s mother wasn’t his biological mother. What happened to Ian had been done with Leon long ago.
Ivana felt some sympathy for Leon, recognizing such a malicious woman as a mother for so long.
"Alright, this is simple. I’ll cooperate with you." Without hesitation, Ivana agreed. Serena was too pitiful, even more so than herself. At least she had Timmy by her side, supporting her for six years, and now she was reunited with Ian.
But Serena, all these years believing her child was dead, now mentally unstable and trapped within her own world, who could say she wasn’t brutally punishing herself?
Punishing herself for not protecting her child back then?
"However, there’s one more thing." Leon continued, "About grandma..."
Leon stopped halfway, but Ivana immediately understood.
Leon’s father had left with Serena for so many years, the Grand Madam must hold some grievance against Serena. More so now, Serena’s mental state is unstable, and both Leon and his father feared that upon Serena’s return, the Grand Madam might mistreat her.
"Leave it to me!"
Ivana was confident, already having thoughts on how to make the Grand Madam accept Serena.
"Can you really handle it?"
Leon was somewhat surprised, knowing that grandma dislikes Leon’s mother and despises his father’s woman outside, meaning Serena.
Even he hadn’t thought of how to make grandma accept Serena, yet Ivana, this clever and intelligent woman, was so confidently saying to leave it to her.
