First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1969: Truths and Lies
Chapter 1969: Truths and Lies
"Not one of you has become a god yet?”
Su Yi’s question wasn’t exactly offensive, but it was definitely humiliating.
The man in long yellow robes snorted coldly, “Who needs a god to kill a badly injured, pompous braggart?”
“Oh?” said Su Yi, taking a step closer. “Come on then. Go ahead and kill me.”
“Get him!” The man in long yellow robes bellowed. The six divine emissaries accompanying him each took out a formation disc.
The formation discs lit up, and a ten-thousand-foot bear appeared.
Glittering golden light poured from the massive bear’s mountainous frame. When it roared, it boomed through the sky like thunder, and its ferocious majesty was even more terrifying than a Great Profound Stage expert’s!
Boom!
When the massive bear appeared, it took a single step, shattering the sky, and swung its claws at Su Yi. It was a simple, coarse attack, but it was sharp, forceful, and swathed in golden baleful energy.
Su Yi couldn’t help but be surprised. This was a natural variant beast comparable to a demigod! Such beasts were quite rare. Quite rare indeed!
As he marveled over the creature, Su Yi dodged.
Boom!
The place he’d been standing in moments prior was reduced to rubble beneath the bear’s massive claws. The very ground itself caved in.
“Aren’t you supposed to be as strong as a demigod? Why are you dodging?” The man in long yellow robes laughed coldly.
“I told you he was bluffing. Now, he’s finally let the cat out of the bag!” The man in black couldn’t help but grin.
“Even if he’s putting on airs, we have to be on guard against his death throes,” the woman in rainbow raiment said icily. “Don’t forget that no small number of divine children have died at his hands of late!”
As they spoke, a grand battle raged.
The massive bear attacked like mad, vicious and tyrannical as it swung its mountainous claws at Su Yi. Its demigod-like power made the divine emissaries gasp.
Su Yi, meanwhile, dodged every strike. The way the crowd saw it, he looked wretched, like a mouse scampering frantically about. They took this as further proof that their hypothesis was right on the mark: Su Yi really was badly injured and in a weakened state.
“Attack together! Let’s end this quickly!” said the man in black. He was ready and raring to go.
“Got it!” Many of the others straightforwardly agreed.
Only the woman in rainbow raiment frowned. “Seems to me we’d best wait a little longer. Caution leads to longevity. Su Yi…”
Before she could finish, the man in black frowned and said, “The longer we drag this out, the more likely others are to covet this opportunity. Don’t forget that there are tons of other people who’d love nothing more than an opportunity to kill Su Yi!”
The woman was about to argue, but the man in black and the others had already begun.
“Get him!”
“Su Yi, today is the day you die!”
All of them took out their treasures and charged into the battlefield, working with the giant bear to flank Su Yi. All of their expressions were full of undisguisable excitement. Ṝ𝓪N𝘖𝐁ÊS
But it was then that Su Yi, who’d been dodging all this time, grinned. “You sure kept me waiting.”
With that, he straightened his back and shot into the sky. And when he stepped down on the air…
Boom!
The ten-thousand-foot bear toppled to the ground like an overturned mountain, shaking the earth on impact and stirring up a massive cloud of dust.
The bear roared in terror and pain.
Shit! We’ve been tricked! The attackers’ hearts shook, and all of them abruptly stopped in place.
But they were one step too late.
Su Yi’s sleeves billowed around him, and he pressed down on the air. Resplendent sword qi filled the air and swept through the sky, whooshing as it spread in all directions.
Wherever it passed, the Great Profound Stage divine emissaries were sliced to ribbons with a spray of fresh blood.
The man in black and the man in long yellow robes took out their Epoch Treasures. Only then did they just barely manage to block the terrifying sword qi.
Nonetheless, the impact made them stagger on their feet, and they bled from the seven apertures of their face.
Before they could steady themselves, Su Yi attacked explosively, striking like lightning.
Bang! Bang!
Both divine sons exploded, destroyed in body and soul.
It all happened in one smooth series of movements, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Su Yi hadn’t just turned the tides; he’d even wiped out the divine sons and all of their divine emissaries.
As for the ten-thousand-foot bear? It was still on the ground, roaring in agony.
When the woman in raiment and her divine emissaries saw this, they gasped. They felt as if they’d been plunged into an icy abyss.
Too terrifying! Life and death were determined in moments!
Against Su Yi, neither the demigod-level bear nor the divine sons and their emissaries could even struggle.
“Were you… were you just pretending earlier?” the woman in rainbow raiment asked in bewilderment.
“That’s right,” said Su Yi. “If I didn’t, how could you have delivered yourselves to me like this? But you’re quite cautious. You didn’t rush recklessly into battle like the others.”
The woman’s gaze was conflicted, but she didn’t hesitate to turn and lead her emissaries away. In the blink of an eye, they’d vanished without a trace.
Su Yi didn’t give chase. Instead, he leaped over to the bear and said, “Submit or die. Your choice.”
The bear quivered with terror and unease. In the end, it submitted, and meekly lowered its head, trembling all the while.
Su Yi immediately took out the Divine Replenishment Furnace and threw the bear inside.
Once he’d finished all this, he let out a long breath, then burst into hacking coughs. Blood dripped from the corners of his lips, and his face paled.
It was then that——
Kcch!
An arrow shot out of a hidden location, tearing through the sky. In a flash, its tip was right between his eyes.
At this critical juncture, all Su Yi could do was clash with it head-on.
Bang!!
A moment later, he was sent flying, and he landed several hundred feet away.
“Who is it?” Su Yi frowned.
“Long time no see, Wang Ye!” An aged voice resounded throughout heaven and earth.
A rain of light appeared accompanying his voice, and an old man in Daoist robes and a lotus crown floated into view, holding a bow.
“Blood Firmament?” Su Yi’s eyes flashed. “So it was you, old man. You finally dare to stand before me.”
This old man was none other than the founder of the Church of the Pure One! A hegemon of the Immortal Realm who’d established himself in the days prior to the Age of Fallen Immortals.
It was he who’d orchestrated the Battle of Eternal Night, leading to Wang Ye’s death!
“To tell the truth, if you weren’t so badly injured, there’s no way I’d dare show myself before achieving divinity,” said the Blood Firmament Immortal Sovereign, his gaze deep and heavy as he stared at Su Yi from afar. “Do you have anything left up your sleeves? If so, go ahead and bring it out.”
Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh. “I truly would never have guessed that using myself as bait would be enough to lure an old fox like you out of hiding.”

“Bait?” Blood Firmament frowned. “You’re bluffing, even now? Do you really think I can’t tell how serious your injuries are?”
Su Yi wiped the blood from his lips. “I am indeed injured. If my wounds weren’t real, how could I trick an old fox like you?”
Blood Firmament’s eyes flashed. “Are you saying that you sensed me hiding and watching the battle?”
Su Yi shook his head. “No, I just sensed someone watching in secret. I didn’t realize it was you.”
A moment later, he let out a self-deprecating laugh. “Had I known, I wouldn’t have put on an act.”
“‘Act?’” Blood Firmament couldn’t help but say coldly, “Wang Ye, stop these unseemly psychological tricks. Given my understanding of you, you wouldn’t resort to such petty little tricks unless you were truly forced into the corner.”
Su Yi sighed. “What else can I do against an unscrupulous, despicable old-timer like you? There’s no other choice. How could I get you to come out into the open?”
Blood Firmament narrowed his eyes, but before he could respond, Su Yi charged.
Boom!
Without the slightest hesitation, Blood Firmament raised his bow and shot an arrow. He’d locked firmly onto Su Yi; there’d be no dodging this.
Earlier, he’d used this very bow to send Su Yi flying. This strike was poised to be all the more terrifying!
But then, something happened that made Blood Firmament’s scalp go numb with fright: Su Yi casually plucked the arrow from midair and tightened his grip.
The arrow exploded, offering no more resistance than paper window paneling.
Shit! Blood Firmament’s heart thudded in his chest as he finally realized he’d been tricked.
After Su Yi’s conversation with the divine children, he suspected that Su Yi was bluffing. When Su Yi crisply defeated them and dominated the giant bear, Blood Firmament changed his opinion once more. He thought Su Yi wasn’t bluffing, but rather, trying to trick his opponents!
But then, the sight of Su Yi coughing up blood as soon as he was alone made Blood Firmament suspect that Su Yi was badly injured, and that he wouldn’t be able to hold out much longer!
Thus, Blood Firmament decided to risk it and fire a divine arrow from his hiding spot.
When his first strike sent Su Yi flying, Blood Firmament confirmed that Su Yi really was badly injured. He was at the end of his rope!
In the face of this rare opportunity, Blood Firmament could no longer hold back. He immediately took action to destroy Su Yi.
Now, he finally understood. Su Yi really was injured, but he was in no way at the end of his rope. He was exaggerating his injuries and feigning weakness to lure him out of hiding!
“Wang Ye, I wouldn’t have guessed you’d be this despicable!” Blood Firmament cursed, then turned and fled without the slightest hesitation.
He even went so far as to use all of the secret treasures and trump cards he’d been keeping in reserve.
In the blink of an eye, he’d vanished.
“Ah, but can you escape?” Su Yi laughed, then took a step forward and vanished.
Moments later, a stretch of heaven and earth swathed in mist.
Blood Firmament appeared out of nowhere and wiped the sweat from his brow. His heart still palpated in terror. His wrinkled face was ashen to the extreme. He’d come dangerously close to losing it all just now!
“I absolutely cannot fight him again until I’ve become a god!” Blood Firmament took a deep breath, suppressed his anger and fear, and made a decision.
But then, a calm voice resounded out of nowhere. “That is probably for the best. So why aren’t you running?”
Boom!
Blood Firmament felt as if he’d been struck by lightning, and he shuddered from head to toe.
He instinctively tried to flee, only for a streak of sword qi to descend from the heavens with unstoppable force. It bore through Blood Firmament’s defenses and continued toward his skull.
Splurt!
Blood Firmament split down the midline with a spray of fresh blood.
He wasn’t sure when he’d gotten there, but he could see Su Yi standing beneath the distant, cloudy dome of heaven, watching him in silence with a mocking grin on his lips.
