Chapter 2027 - The Divine Dao Comes to Naught

Boom!

Ghost God Chong Ming’s power was increasingly terrifying, to the point that it shook the entire Fog-Shrouded Street.

When his wings unfurled, it was as if countless blood-colored eyes opened, all of them erupting with a strange and terrifying aura. It was enough to instantly intimidate and damage his opponents' souls.

“Careful!” Ye Chunqiu waved his sword, raising a curtain of sword light to protect Wu Lingchong and Li Shuang.

Meanwhile, Su Yi didn’t hesitate to attack.

Clang!

The Sword of Proximity hummed, filling the sky with horrifying visions of reincarnation that bore down on the sky.

Su Yi had put everything he had into this attack.

“You overestimate yourself!” Ghost God Chong Ming flashed through the air, swinging his wing like a saber. It exploded Su Yi’s sword strike with unstoppable force.

Chong Ming, meanwhile, continued toward Su Yi. Soon, he was close at hand.

Boom!

His enormous claws suddenly stretched out, instantly ripping the sky to shreds as if it were made of paper.

Su Yi swung his sword and clashed with it head on, but he was instantly forced back.

Bang!

When he landed, his blood and qi churned, and his eyes filled with shock. What terrifying power!

“Ol’ Wang, this is the Fog-Shrouded Street, so this guy is just manipulating the power of the Curse of the Ancient Gods. He isn’t actually that strong in his own right. If you want to defeat him, you must first sever his connection to the Fog-Shrouded Street and strip him of his control of the Curse of the Ancient Gods!” Ye Chunqiu hurriedly called out a warning.

Su Yi instantly understood.

Simply put, his opponent wasn’t just Ghost God Chong Ming; he was up against the Fog-Shrouded Street manifested of the ancient curse, too.

But knowing this wasn’t enough. Breaking their connection was certainly no easy feat. His aura has fused completely into the Fog-Shrouded Street. He was like its incarnation, the ruler of the entire stretch of heaven and earth. He had no detectable weaknesses whatsoever.

“Brother Ye, I’m extremely disappointed in you,” Ghost God Chong Ming said icily, his voice booming throughout heaven and earth.

He beat his wings, blurred into a beam of black light, and charged at Su Yi once more. His sharp golden claws stirred up explosive, blood-red hurricanes.

Su Yi didn’t dodge. Instead, he attacked with all his might, his mastery of reincarnation on full display.

Boom!

Heaven-shaking impacts rang out repeatedly. The entire Fog-Shrouded Street shook violently, and blood-red firelight swept outward like tidewaters.

Ghost God Chong Ming displayed his endlessly fierce might. Every stroke brought with it the strange, malevolent power of the curse, and Su Yi was continuously pushed back. Chong Ming, meanwhile, kept drawing closer!

“Over the course of the years, I’ve fused the power of the Fog-Shrouded Street into my cultivation base. Here, I am like the ruler of Heaven’s Will. What could you possibly fight me with?” Ghost God Chong Ming laughed coldly, and when his wings struck, the Sword of Proximity quivered and scattered a rain of light, sending Su Yi flying once more.

Su Yi really was in a wretched state. If not for reincarnation’s ability to contend with the ancient curse, he’d have been defeated a long time ago!

It wasn’t that Ghost God Chong Ming was too strong for him to fight, but that he was controlling the power of the Fog-Shrouded Street, a manifestation of part of the Laws of the City of the Lost. This was really the power of the Curse of the Ancient Gods!

“Grandmother admires your talent, which is why she’s tolerated you all this time. Did you really think a Great Realm cultivator like you has any right to act wantonly in the City of the Lost?”

Ghost God Chong Ming struck like lightning, fierce and tyrannical as he relentlessly suppressed Su Yi.

Ye Chunqiu watched from far away, his expression shifting dramatically and his heart on tenterhooks. He’d anticipated that it would be difficult for Su Yi to turn this around, but seeing him pummeled like this nonetheless left him frantic with anxiety.

“In the City of the Lost, even a mighty god would be heartlessly suppressed if they couldn’t contend with the power of the curse,” bellowed Ghost God Chongming, his golden claws suddenly ripping through Su Yi’s defenses.

He seized Su Yi, then stared at him with his red, dual-pupiled eyes. His gaze was utterly cold and cruel. “You’ve lost!”

His claws tightened, then surged with firelight. He seemed intent on ripping Su Yi open.

Ye Chunqiu’s eyes bulged. He was completely frantic.

But then, Su Yi suddenly said, “Are you sure?”

Hm? Ghost God Chong Ming’s four pupils constricted, but before he realized what was happening...

Boom!!

An indescribable, unparalleled sword force erupted from Su Yi, instantly shattering Ghost God Chong Ming’s glittering golden claws.

“Dammit——!” Ghost God Chong Ming roared in agony, beat his wings, and flew further away.

Even so, the terrifying sword force erupting from Su Yi swept over him, reducing much of his flesh to pulp.

This unexpected development left Ye Chunqiu unwittingly dumbstruck. The indescribable, unparalleled sword force emanating from Su Yi was so mighty that even Ye Chunqiu’s heart quivered.

It was indistinct, but an illusory Dao Sword floated in the world of reincarnation reflected behind Su Yi.

This was the power of the Sword of the Nine Hells!

“Impossible! No Great Profound Stage expert could possibly wield such power!” Ghost God Chong Ming cried out in fury and alarm.

His sharp claws had been destroyed, and his body was badly damaged. He obviously found this hard to believe.

If he hadn’t dodged in time, he might well have died! How could he possibly accept this?

“You can control the power of the Fog-Shrouded Street, a power that doesn’t belong to you,” Su Yi said with a dry laugh. “Why can’t I do the same?”

With that, he shifted on his feet and charged explosively.

Clang!

The unparalleled sword force of the Sword of the Nine Hells fused with the Sword of Proximity, and its hums swept forth like the tide. Its blade erupted with an endless rain of chaos light. The third of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos now displayed unbelievable power.

Then, Su Yi drew upon the mysteries of reincarnation.

Boom!

Chaos sword qi whooshed forth, blanketing the sky and blotting out the sun. It was as if a corner of the true world of Samsara had appeared amidst the endless chaos.

The entire Fog-Shrouded Street shook violently. The sky collapsed, and all of creation withered.

It was as if the entire stretch of heaven and earth had been plunged into the cycle of reincarnation!

Ghost God Chong Ming was stuck right in the middle of it. He stiffened, and his hair stood on end. His heart filled with indescribable, wordless terror.

“Activate!” He bellowed, and the entire Fog-Shrouded Street shook. Countless bolts of blood-red lightning descended from the heavens, and strange black fog enshrouded the buildings lining both sides of the street.

All of a sudden, blood-red lightning surged, and strange black fog billowed outward, suppressing the chaos sword qi covering the area. It was an unquestionably startling scene.

Like a clash between two supreme natural orders!

The rain of chaos sword qi manifested a corner of the world of Samsara, while the Curse of the Ancient Gods manifested blood-red lightning and made the entire street erupt with dark fog.

This display of power made Ye Chunqiu gasp. He was overcome with astonishment.

But this clash quickly came to an end.

The sword rain spread outward, and the power of reincarnation relentlessly ground away the power of the curse, like a giant millstone wearing away the will of the heavens!

The blood-red lightning exploded with a bang and fell apart, and the surging black mist receded like waters at low tide or a fleeing, defeated army. It had been completely suppressed.

The buildings of the Fog-Shrouded Street collapsed, and the ground cracked and split.

There was no doubt about it. The power of reincarnation dealt massive damage to this manifestation of the Curse of the Ancient Gods, and it was starting to fall apart.

“No!!!” Ghost God Chong Ming watched in horror. He couldn’t accept this.

This was the power of the Curse of the Ancient Gods! Over the years, this power had suppressed countless deities.

Yet now, it was being ground away to nothing! How could Ghost God Chong Ming possibly accept this?

Boom!!

Heaven and earth dimmed as the power of reincarnation descended, suppressing Ghost God Chong Ming and making him quiver. First, his wings broke and withered. Then, his body split and fell apart.

He was like grain in a mortar and a pestle, ruthlessly suppressed and ground away!

“Save me, Grandmother! Save me!” shrieked Ghost God Chong Ming, his expression full of terror and unwillingness.

But in the blink of an eye, he’d been suppressed completely and sealed into a Far Shore Mark, which fell into Su Yi’s hand.

Ghost God Chong Ming’s shrieks still echoed through the air.

The entire Fog-Shrouded Street had long since collapsed, reduced to rubble strewn across the ground. Even most of the blood-red thunderclouds had dissipated!

Clang!

Su Yi raised his hand and beckoned. The Sword of Proximity whooshed back into his sleeves. The rain of chaos sword qi and the power of reincarnation faded away, and a new, deathly silence set in.

Ye Chunqiu stood in the distance, too dazed for words.

He’d been protecting Wu Lingchong and Li Shuang from the moment the battle began, preventing the aftershock from reaching them. This also prevented them from witnessing this grand battle in full detail.

Still, when they saw that the Fog-Shrouded Street now lay in ruin, how could they fail to realize how terrifying a battle had taken place?

The deathly, stifled silence continued until an icy female voice broke it. “Just as I thought. In the face of reincarnation, the Divine Dao comes to naught! If it’s as I suspect, you’re the Swordmaster of Spiritual Desolation, the gods’ hated enemy! Am I right?”

Her voice was full of undisguised solemnity and confusion.

In the face of reincarnation, the Divine Dao comes to naught!

This description made the group’s hearts shake, but the last few sentences left them bewildered. Don’t tell me that Su Yi has another identity? Someone even the gods see as their enemy?

Su Yi, however, disregarded this completely. He just said calmly, “Where is Purple Moon Mountain? Give me directions, and I’ll come to your banquet without delay.”

Ghost God Chong Ming had told him that Grandmother had arranged a banquet for him atop Purple Moon Mountain. At first, Su Yi refused, saying he’d only go if they agreed to his conditions.

But now, Su Yi knew who was really behind Xiao Ruyi and Xu Fushi’s deaths: Grandmother. He naturally wouldn’t just let this go!

After a brief silence, that icy female voice rang out once more.

“That Dao Sword doesn’t belong to you. Given your paltry cultivation, using its power is surely enormously draining. Given the circumstances, all I need to do is send my subordinates to wear you down. I’ll be able to capture you in the end anyway, so why bother with a banquet invitation?

“Of course, if you make it to Purple Moon Mountain alive, this lofty one wouldn’t mind entertaining you personally!”

With that, the voice faded away. Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh. “All that talk, but it turns out you’re just afraid of me.”

If she weren’t afraid, why wouldn’t she dare come out and fight him?

If she weren’t afraid, why would she drag things out and send round after round of enemies after him to wear him down?

There was no doubt about it. After seeing his battle with Ghost God Chong Ming, Grandmother had lost her cool. She sensed a threat!
