Chapter 2036 - We’ve Been Waiting a Long Time

Three days passed before Su Yi fully fused with the power of Li Fuyou’s Dao Imprint.

There was no denying that Li Fuyou’s attainments in the Dao of the Sword were incomparably terrifying.

Prior to becoming a god, Li Fuyou’s attainments in the Dao of the Sword made him the greatest expert of the Immortal Realm’s Primeval Era. None could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him.

Furthermore, he’d once relied on his own strength to suppress and kill a Lesser God! He was injured badly in the process, sure, but he never relied on external power. He used nothing but his attainments in the Dao of the Sword to cut down a Lesser God!

After stepping into the Divine Dao, Li Fuyou’s attainments in the Dao of the Sword made him more than just invincible among those of the same level. He could even threaten foes of higher cultivations!

Now, Li Fuyou’s attainments, knowledge, experiences, and legacies of the Dao of the Sword had fused with Su Yi, broadening his horizons.

Information flooded his mind.

The God Domain is divided into four Divine Continents, thirty-three realms, and tens of thousands of lesser planes!

The Western Paradise Spirit Mountain is stationed in the Ancient Nirvana Divine Continent. There, Buddhism reigns supreme.

The Three Purities Daoist Court is in the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent, where Daoists rule.

In the Southern Flame Divine Continent, Demonists are as numerous as trees in a forest.

And in the Eastern Glory Divine Continent, countless schools of thought coexist!

Gods of the first three realms of the Divine Dao can live as long as the heavens themselves, but only Undying Realm Master Gods are truly immune to the passage of time.

The Endless Battlefield, the place where the Ancient Gods first arose! The Tianxiu Sword Shrine, a sacred ground to the world’s sword cultivators.

Beyond the clouds of the nine heavens, neither demons nor gods are safe. Beneath the nine abysses, life cannot exist.

...All manner of memories and experiences meant that in just three short days, Su Yi’s horizons had completely transformed.

Information surrounding the Path of Divinity, the layout of the God Domain, the secrets of the heavens, the friendships and enmities of Li Fuyou’s life... all of them became Su Yi’s knowledge and experiences.

It really felt as if he’d lived yet another lifetime. The only difference was that then, his name was Li Fuyou.

It was no illusion, either. He’d experienced and felt it all for himself.

That aside, everything Li Fuyou had experienced while exploring the River of Epochs flooded into Su Yi’s mind, giving him an all-new understanding of the River of Epochs.

Su Yi spent the next few days immersed in combing through his memories and experiences.

Everyone accumulated memories and experiences over the course of their life, but as time passed, they forgot and overlooked many of the details.

Li Fuyou’s lifetime was like an oceanic treasure trove. Even though all of it had fused into Su Yi, he needed time to comb through it all and truly make it his own.

Lots of people understood all types of grand principles but still failed to lead good lives. Why?

Because knowing something was easier than putting it into practice.

Su Yi was now combining his current lifetime’s Dao and knowledge, extrapolating and connecting the two. Only then could he surpass Li Fuyou!

And only then could he stand on the shoulder of a giant to divine a unique and unparalleled Path of Divinity all his own!

This would take an enormous amount of time and effort, but Su Yi was in no hurry.

......

Time slipped by, and soon, another half month had passed. It had now been two months since Su Yi first entered the City of the Lost.

It was on that day that Ye Chunqiu came looking for him excitedly and said, “Ol’ Wang, within just half a year, I can fully master the Cursed Divine Seal. I’m sure of it!”

He’d been researching and contemplating the mysteries of the Cursed Divine Seal all this time. Now, he’d managed to grasp a portion of its power.

The Cursed Divine Seal was a taboo treasure no weaker than a Mystery of Chaos like the Sword of Proximity. Even Master Gods would have gone crazy over it.

But, much to his frustration, Su Yi had yet to become a god, and thus couldn’t really refine this treasure. He could at most borrow a portion of its powers.

Ye Chunqiu, however, had proven his Dao and become a Ghost God. He could refine this treasure without trouble.

“You still need half a year?” Su Yi mulled that over. “That actually isn’t long at all, but I plan to leave already.”

Ye Chunqiu froze, stunned. “Where are you going?”

“To search for the Path of the Ancient Gods,” Su Yi said casually. “It’s time I began preparing to achieve divinity.”

The Path of the Ancient Gods! Rumor had it that this was the most ancient trial ground in the River of Epochs. It traversed the alternations of the epochs like an eternal existence.

The rumors also said that the Path of the Ancient Gods held the most primordial, ancient secrets of achieving divinity, and that anyone who overcame this path of trials could create the strongest possible foundations in the Grand Dao!

But the Path of the Ancient Gods wasn’t easily located.

During Wang Ye’s time exploring the River of Epochs, he merely uncovered a few leads.

When Li Fuyou explored the River of Epochs, he found the site of the Path of the Ancient Gods, but the time was not right. The path was sealed tightly shut, preventing Li Fuyou from attempting this legendary trial ground.

This time, Su Yi planned to search for himself.

“Shall I accompany you?” Xu Fushi approached from afar.

“No need.” Su Yi shook his head. “You’d best focus on recovering as quickly as possible.”

Over their years among the Lost, Xu Fushi and Xiao Ruyi had lost their bodies, and their souls and vitality were badly damaged too.

They were enormously lucky that it had even been possible to save them; not all of the Lost were so lucky.

“When will you come back to see us?” asked Xiao Ruyi.

Su Yi smiled. “I’ll be sure to come back for a visit before I set off for the God Domain.”

Xiao Ruyi instantly sighed in relief, then laughed. “That’s good. I was really worried you’d abandon us and never come back.”

Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh. How could he possibly just vanish forever without saying goodbye?

Ye Chunqiu said, “How about you take Sky Piercer, Treasure Tree, Northern Desert, and Spirit Jade with you?”

The City of the Lost had changed completely. The four Dao Protector Ghost Gods who’d submitted to Su Yi and the remaining one hundred and forty former Lost had, under Ye Chunqiu’s leadership, built all manner of palaces and cultivation grounds throughout the city.

Even Wu Lingchong, Li Shuang, and Li Yong’an were quite happy with the place, and they saw it as home.

In the perilous and unfathomable River of Epochs, the City of the Lost was unquestionably far safer than the outposts!

“No need for that,” said Su Yi, rejecting the idea outright. In the outside world, the four Dao Protector Ghost Gods wouldn’t be able to use the power of the ancient curse. Without it, they’d at best be comparable to Lesser Gods. Su Yi didn’t think they’d be able to protect him.

Worse, they might well need his protection...

“You’ve always been like this. You just love traveling alone, with only your sword for company.” Ye Chunqiu shook his head in exasperation.

The others laughed. They understood this, too.

That very day, Su Yi set off. He wasn’t worried about his friends’ safety. They were in the City of the Lost. Even gods would face almost certain doom if they tried anything here.

Whoosh!

The Sword of Proximity transformed into a beam of flowing light, then sped toward the border of the Chaotic Skies Watershed.

Su Yi stood on the flat of the blade, clothing fluttering around him. It wasn’t long before he’d disappeared from view.

But not long after he left the Chaotic Skies Watershed, something unexpected happened. There were numerous figures gathered on the River of Epochs, waiting!

They were densely packed, and there were over a thousand of them, like a grand, imposing army.

Su Yi’s arrival instantly triggered a widespread uproar.

“It’s Su Yi!”

“That’s right, it’s him! He’s finally left the City of the Lost!”

“Hahaha! If we capture him, we can receive two rewards from the Nine Great Heavenly Gods, including an Epoch Fragment!”

...A clamor of voices rose and fell in waves.

The group looked at Su Yi with irrepressible excitement and greed, like wolves eyeing a fatty lamb.

Su Yi couldn’t help but find this surprising. How long has it been? Don’t tell me my background and origins have already circulated throughout the River of Epochs?

A moment later, Su Yi guessed what was really going on. The Nine Great Heavenly Gods of the Kingdom of Lasting Light had most likely hidden most details regarding him. Were that not the case, they could never have used a mere bounty to convince the experts of the River of Epochs to target him.

Had this bunch known that he’d slain a god in the Great Unity Stage and that he’d massacred numerous divine avatars of will in the Epoch Battlefield, they’d never have dared to throw their lives away like this.

“Su Yi, we’ve been waiting for you for a long, long time.” A dignified voice rang out.

The crowd split, and a purple-robed, white-bearded old man on a golden diagram shot over.

Wisps of resplendent, fiery Divine Laws revolved around him, and terrifying divine majesty filled the entire area.

Countless people gazed upon him with awe.

Luo Yunchao!

The Grand Elder of the Celestial Purity Pavilion. He was a terrifying existence who’d proven his Dao and achieved divinity a long time ago, and he spent his days cultivating in the Kingdom of Lasting Light.

Rumor had it that he and Heavenly God Panhu, the deity behind the Celestial Purity Pavilion, had a close bond. He was absolutely one of the mightiest authority figures in the entire River of Epochs.

But then, a raspy voice rang out out of nowhere.

“We’ve already placed an inescapable net over the entire area. You won’t escape even if you sprout wings. Agree to come with me to the Kingdom of Lasting Light, and we won’t make this difficult for you.”

Another deity appeared accompanying this voice. He was a monk like a fierce golden vajra, and his skin was tinged with gold. A glittering golden lotus-shaped barrier shone behind him.

Buddhist light extended in all directions, rising into the firmament and causing yet another widespread uproar.

Divine Monk Jade River!

A high elder of Endless Void Temple, yet another of the Nine Great Sects of the River of Epochs. His prestige was beyond even Luo Yunchao of the Celestial Purity Pavilion!

After he appeared, he stretched out and snapped his fingers.

Weng!

A streak of golden Buddhist light soared into the firmament.

One golden barrier after another soared out of the water, rising into the heavens to seal the entire area off completely.

“This is Maitreya’s Divine Formation, one of our temple’s core legacy formations. I’m afraid you won’t be able to break free on your own,” said Divine Monk Jade River. His voice boomed in all directions.

Uproar ensued. Numerous people looked at Su Yi. They seemed to find his predicament an awful pity—but they pitied themselves, not him.

All of them figured that Su Yi was doomed, and that the generous bounty on his head was not fated for them. Of course they found this a pity. How could they not?

From beginning to end, Su Yi said nothing. He completely disregarded this so-called “encirclement” and these so-called “threats.”

Instead, he gazed into the distance, and his brow furrowed slightly.

As soon as he arrived in these waters, he sensed a far more threatening presence hidden nearby. No, he sensed quite a few of them!

Unfortunately, when Divine Monk Jade River used Maitreya’s Divine Formation, it obscured the entire area, severing the space within from the outside world. Thus, Su Yi couldn’t get a clearer sense of just where the hidden danger lay in waiting.
