Outside the huge iron gate of the Anderson mansion, a brand new BMW was parked by the driveway.

A professionally dressed driver was speaking to a security man from behind the gate. He had a sense of urgency in his tone and his steps as he hurried back to the rear end of the car.

The side window of the back door slowly slid down and the scrunched face of Rowland appeared.

"What did he say?"

"Sir, he said that his superior had asked us to leave immediately."

"What! Did you tell him who I am?" Rowland’s frown deepened.

The driver’s voice trembled as he responded.

"Yes, sir. I did."

"Maybe I should go and speak with him in person." Rowland pushed open the door but his wife placed a hand on his arm to stop him.

"Don’t, honey. Those men might harass you. They are simply following instructions. Why don’t you call Maria on the phone? At least she will know you are the one here and not me."

"Dad, I think mom is right" Kelvin interjected from the front seat.

Rowland gritted his teeth. "Fine." He picked up his phone and dialled Maria’s new mobile number that his wife had given him. But to his disappointment, he discovered that it was switched off.

"What do we do now?" Rowland massaged his forehead in exasperation.

"Sir, we are being given a warning signal to leave this premises." The driver interrupted the family’s conversation.

"Take us out of here." Rowland hissed, slamming the door shut.

"How about we try Blaze’s number?" Kelvin suggested running out of options. "We could beg to see him in person, man to man."

"It’s worth a try." Eunice shrugged, batting her eyelashes to push back her threatening tears. She was scared of invoking her husband’s wrath by crying.

Rowland tried the two different numbers Kelvin recovered online from Blaze’s official business page. But neither of them connected.

"Do you have a personal mobile number?"

"No Dad." Kelvin shook his head, his gaze lowering in defeat.

"But I think Tina does." Eunice’s eyes brightened up. "She did say she was friends with Blaze and his wife."

"Can you not mention your useless daughter’s name right now?" Rowland snapped at his wife, his narrowed eyes darkened, causing her to whimper and break into a sob. "I can’t believe you still believe any single word from that girl’s mouth after everything she has done to put us in this mess."

"Dad please, go easy on Mom. Whatever Tina did is not her fault ." Kelvin turned to console his mother, his heart was in the chaos of tomorrow’s trip.

"But she encouraged her." Rowland snarled, his breath hot and fiery. "After Tina came back and said she was going after Blaze, I told her not to. But your mother didn’t back me up. She encouraged her in her foolish fantasies. Now, look at us. We are the talk of the town. Our family name is ruined. We have become the laughingstock of the whole city. I cannot show my face at work or in public for the next couple of weeks or months. This is all your mother and sister’s fault."

Just then, Eunice’s phone started to ring with the same strange number that Tina used to call her earlier, flashing on her screen.

Frightened by her husband’s temper, she abruptly ended the call. However, when the call came again she decided to pick it up, thinking Tina was in real danger and needed her help.

"Where are you?" Eunice spat out in a low and angry voice, turning away from her husband and cupping her voice.

Rowland took one look at his wife’s annoying behaviour and knew it was Tina calling. He shook his head and reverted to his phone scrolling through his contacts and searching for anyone who knew Blaze closely.

"Mom, I’m sorry for everything I have put you, Dad and Kelvin through. Please forgive me." Tina whimpered from the other end.

"You didn’t answer my question you silly girl. I asked where are you?"

"I’m fine, but I can’t come home right now."

"You’re with a man right?" Eunice sneered wishing she could go into the phone and pull Tina by the ear. "I’m highly disappointed in you."

"I’m sorry, mom." Tina sobbed harder.

"You should be sorry for yourself. I can’t believe after everything I did to raise you properly, you will choose to sleep with a man old enough to be your father. You are such a disgrace." Eunice spat out. She was about to end the call when she recalled something.

"Do you have Blaze’s private number, his wife or Maria’s number?"

"Yes, I do. But Maria is in the hospital. Mum, I think she’s in a coma."

"Coma!" Eunice screamed, the phone slipping from her hands.

Kelvin and his father instantly stopped what they were doing, their alarmed gaze turning to Eunice whose face her turned white as though she had seen a ghost.

"Mom, what’s wrong? What do you mean by coma? Who is in Coma?" Kelvin demanded, his eyes filled with dread.

"Honey!" Rowland took his wife’s trembling hands. "Talk to us. You’re scaring me."

"Maria!" Eunice managed to cough out, her chest heaving.

"Yes!" Rowland’s eyes widened as he connected the name with a coma.

"Please tell me that Blaze’s mother is not in a coma." Kevin’s hand flew to his chest.

Eunice could only nod her head more tears streaming down her face.

"Who told you that? Is it Tina?" Rowland’s panic intensified as he mentally calculated the possibility of ever convincing Blaze to help them.

Eunice nodded again staring at the phone screen which had gone blank.

"Stop the car at once." Rowland barked at the driver while turning squarely to face his wife.

"What else did your daughter say and how did she know?"

"I don’t know?" Eunice shook her head, her tears clouded her eyes looking at her phone. "I didn’t ask."

"Call her back Mom," Kelvin suggested in a quivering voice.

"Give me the phone!" Rowland snatched his wife’s phone and dial the same number that called her.

Immediately the line connected, Rowland thundered into the phone. "Tina, how did you know that Maria is in a coma? Is this one of your lies to warm up to your mother? Because if it is, I swear I will break you into two with my bare hands."

"I’m sorry Dad."

"Shut up and just answer the bloody question you worthless disgrace of a child." Rowland thundered, causing his wife to flinch. He listened and heard a male’s voice in the background, consoling Tina which irked him the more.

"I followed him to the hospital the day Maria lost consciousness and I had someone spy on them."

"What!" Rowland boomed, the phone also slipping from his hand but Kelvin quickly picked it up, seeing there was no time for his parent’s drama.

"Tina, do you know the hospital where Maria currently is?"

"Kelvin, I’m so sorry."

"Just answer the damn question, Tina. We need to see Blaze urgently."

"Yes, it’s the city general hospital," Tina replied sniffing from the other end.

"If I need to talk to you, can we reach you through this phone?" Kelvin listened as he heard a male voice speak in the background.

"Yes. You can." Tina replied.

"Okay. Stay close to the phone in case we need you." Kelvin hung up and said to the driver.

"Take us to the city general hospital right now."
