Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 321: Did You Miss Me?
"I didn’t want to lie to you, believe it or not." Ruan Pianran put down her phone, shrugged her shoulders, and said nonchalantly.
"Of course, I don’t believe you."
Hmph, such an obvious trick, how could she fall for it so easily!
Mi Jing hummed in her heart and then ended the conversation with Ruan Pianran.
"Am I really that untrustworthy?" After five minutes of silence, Ruan Pianran couldn’t hold it in anymore and looked at Mi Jing’s profile, asking helplessly.
"At certain times, indeed you’re not." Mi Jing said honestly.
"Alright, don’t blame me for not warning you then." With that, Ruan Pianran closed her eyes again and continued to rest.
"..." Mi Jing didn’t speak, convinced that Ruan Pianran wasn’t telling the truth.
The car ran on the highway, passing through the lights of the night, merging into the endless flow of traffic.
The apartment where Ruan Pianran lived was also in the city, about a ten-minute drive from Mi Jing’s neighborhood. As the car passed the entrance of the neighborhood, Mi Jing instinctively glanced inside, knowing she couldn’t see her own home but still couldn’t help but take a look.
Would he come home early today?
Such a thought suddenly entered Mi Jing’s mind, and immediately, she really wanted to drive in and see if Shen Lingxing had already come home.
However, the car was moving, and by the time Mi Jing came to her senses, the neighborhood had already been left behind, so she could only continue driving forward.
"Drop me off at the entrance." As the car approached the apartment entrance, Ruan Pianran suddenly requested.
"Why?" Mi Jing stopped the car and asked in confusion.
"Didn’t you miss your husband? He’s probably already waiting for you at home, so drop me off quickly and then go home." While unbuckling her seatbelt, Ruan Pianran said irritably.
"You really didn’t lie to me?" Mi Jing’s firm belief began to waver. She stared seriously at Ruan Pianran and asked.
"Here’s my phone, see for yourself." Ruan Pianran, unable to stand Mi Jing’s constant questioning, handed her phone over to Mi Jing.
Wife, when are you coming home?
Upon opening the message, Mi Jing saw this sentence that made her heart leap with joy. Instantly, a happy smile spread across her face, and a beautiful arc appeared at the corner of her mouth.
"Now do you believe I wasn’t lying to you?" Ruan Pianran glanced at Mi Jing, her tone laced with annoyance.
"I was wrong, okay?" Mi Jing smiled, trying to appease her. "I’ll have the egg noodles here next time, don’t forget to prepare the ingredients."
"You’re so homesick, and you still think about food. Sometimes, I really admire you, Mi Jing!" Ruan Pianran said disdainfully, glaring at Mi Jing.
"Same to you, sometimes I really admire you too." Mi Jing said with a bright smile.
"Then don’t go home tonight, stay and keep me company."
Hearing this, the smile on Mi Jing’s face froze for a moment. She then laughed and said, "Next time, there’ll be plenty of opportunities."
"I knew you would choose romance over friendship!" Ruan Pianran swiftly got out of the car, and standing outside, she leaned on the door and said, "I’m off, be careful driving."
"Okay, call me when you can."
On the way home, Mi Jing felt a mix of elation and excitement. Just thinking about how the person she had missed day and night was already waiting for her at home made her impatient to get back, and she couldn’t help but drive faster, even wanting to run the red lights!
The car sped along the road and what was usually a ten-minute drive took only seven minutes. Once the car was parked, she didn’t waste a second, quickly opening the door and getting out, bag in hand, she ran into the elevator.
Actually, Mi Jing wasn’t someone very calm, over the years, the initially carefree part of her had gradually faded, making her more rational and steady. Yet, at this moment, she was like a girl in love, filled with excitement, eager to fling herself into Shen Lingxing’s arms immediately.
The elevator was ascending quickly, but Mi Jing’s heart was too anxious. Even just twenty seconds felt exceptionally long.
Watching the numbers on the elevator panel change constantly, Mi Jing’s eyes didn’t leave it for a moment. As soon as it reached the top floor, she stepped out. With a ding, the elevator doors opened, and she dashed out through the narrow gap that could barely fit one person.
Quickly walking to her front door, Mi Jing raised her hand to press the doorbell. But just as her fingertip was about to touch it, she stopped her movement, as if she had changed her mind.
The next second, her raised hand lowered. She took out her keys from her bag and entered the house.
The lights were on, but it was quiet. Only the light footsteps she made as she moved around echoed in the house.
Where is he?
Mi Jing looked around anxiously, taking a few steps before she saw a pair of legs and slippers at the end of the sofa.
He must be asleep.
Mi Jing guessed, her steps unconsciously slowing and lightening for fear of waking Shen Lingxing.
Walking around the sofa, Mi Jing finally saw the face she had missed so much.
Sure enough, he was asleep, still in his suit, the collar of his shirt slightly open, his tie loose and hanging precariously on his collar, making him look less refined, but more rugged and captivating, instantly grabbing all of Mi Jing’s attention.
He’s thinner!
Seeing the tired and thin handsome face of Shen Lingxing, Mi Jing felt a pang of heartache, wondering how busy he had been these days. Had he not been eating well?
She casually placed her bag on the coffee table, then knelt in front of the sofa, gazing tenderly and quietly at Shen Lingxing’s face.
He was a clean person, always dressed neatly and exuding confidence when he went out, and even kept his beard meticulously trimmed. But now, a ring of stubble had appeared around his mouth; he hadn’t shaved it off, despite its slightly rugged charm adding a mature allure, it also carried a hint of weariness. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
She knew he was busy! So busy that he didn’t have time to shave, yet he had time to make her breakfast!
Thinking of this, a sense of guilt suddenly welled up in Mi Jing’s heart, making her feel inadequate.
In those past few nights, how had she slept so soundly? He would come home exhausted after work, and not only did she fail to express her concern, but she also slept like a log. At that moment, did he feel disappointed? On those mornings, with what kind of mood had he prepared breakfast? Did he think he had married a pig, and this lazy woman had become utterly uncute?
The more she thought about it, the more Mi Jing blamed herself. A slight sense of worry also crept in, fearing she hadn’t done well enough to live up to Shen Lingxing’s expectations, and that she might even evoke his dissatisfaction towards her!
