Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 359: The Epiphany of the Third Party (1)
"Grandma, what’s wrong? Did Ling Xing upset you?"
As Mi Jing reached the staircase, she heard the old lady’s voice and saw her looking displeased, so she asked with concern.
"It’s nothing. I was just chatting with Ling Xing." The old lady, who had been wearing a stern expression since entering the house, immediately relaxed and gave a gentle smile upon seeing Mi Jing. "Did I wake you? Why not sleep a bit more?"
"I’m already awake," Mi Jing replied with a beaming smile.
Initially, she wanted to stay in bed a bit longer, but after waiting awhile and not seeing Shen Lingxing come upstairs, she thought perhaps an important guest or a familiar person had arrived. So, she quickly freshened up and came down.
"Come, sit with me and chat a bit," the old lady said warmly and lovingly to Mi Jing, her voice filled with affection.
Shen Lingxing was already used to the old lady’s obvious favoritism toward his wife. After all, since she doted on his wife, he was happy about it.
"Grandma, have you had breakfast? Should I make something for you?" Mi Jing asked as she walked over lightly, smiling sweetly.
"Zhou is already busy in the kitchen. Sit down, I have something to discuss with you."
"Oh." Mi Jing obediently responded and then sat down beside Shen Lingxing.
"Jingjing, it’s been a few months since you and Ling Xing got your marriage license. Grandma hopes you can hold the wedding soon, while my legs are still strong enough to enjoy the festivities. Don’t delay any further."
"Uh..."
It didn’t matter much to Mi Jing when the wedding would be, but Shen Lingxing’s work schedule was hectic, and she didn’t know when he would have time. So, she turned to Shen Lingxing, inquiring about his opinion with her eyes.
"You don’t have to always listen to Ling Xing’s arrangements. You need to have your own stance," the old lady said, unusually serious.
"Actually..." The old lady’s sudden serious tone made Mi Jing a bit nervous. Just then, Shen Lingxing’s hand reached out, his warm palm enveloping her right hand, silently encouraging her, giving her immense courage.
"Actually, we’ve discussed the wedding earlier. We planned to travel first, so we can only start preparing for the wedding after we come back." Mi Jing mustered up her courage and looked directly into the old lady’s eyes.
"That’s good, going out can help relax." The old lady nodded slightly in agreement.
Hearing this, Mi Jing turned to look at Shen Lingxing again, and the two smiled at each other.
The old lady, with her sharp eyes, saw their loving interaction and felt relieved and joyful.
"Zhou, have you put the porridge on? We should be leaving soon." Coming over unannounced early in the morning likely disturbed the young couple, so the old lady wanted to leave quickly.
"Grandma, stay for breakfast," Mi Jing immediately sat beside the old lady, affectionately holding her hand. "I’m free today and can accompany you out, and we can visit Xing’er and Little King Kong too."
"Alright." The old lady found it hard to resist Mi Jing’s enthusiasm, plus she was bored at home and missed Xing’er and her great-grandson, so she gladly agreed.
His wife was truly impressive! She could coax Grandma effortlessly.
Sitting nearby, Shen Lingxing watched the happy smiles on both their faces and felt a deep wave of joy rise within him.
Kindergarten entrance.
At 7:20 AM, the quiet campus began another busy day. Cars came and went, people passed by, children played, and amidst the hustle and bustle, there was laughter and cheer. To Chen Wenyu, all of this seemed wonderful, though she remained just an observer, not a part of the joys.
Why did she come here?
Standing under a plane tree, Chen Wenyu watched the children’s innocent smiles and pondered with a heavy heart.
"Hey, isn’t that the woman who lied to us last time?"
Several women walked by together, and one with sharp eyes noticed Chen Wenyu, whispering to her companions.
Suddenly, the women stopped, all looking at Chen Wenyu.
"Hmph, does she think a haircut will make her unrecognizable?" a slightly chubby woman sneered, scrutinizing Chen Wenyu from head to toe without mercy.
"Let it go, let’s just leave," one of the leaner women said quietly, her face flashing with embarrassment as Chen Wenyu silently lowered her head.
"Yeah, we don’t know her, and whatever she does is none of our business," another woman chimed in.
"But she deceived us!" the chubby woman said, angry and looking at Chen Wenyu, raising her voice. "A shameless woman like her deserves to be despised! She came here to spread lies last time, who knows what she’s plotting this time!"
"Enough, if we weren’t gossiping ourselves, we wouldn’t have been fooled, let alone hurt others," another woman reasoned.
"Exactly! That’s why I’m so angry," the chubby woman replied furiously. "It got my son ostracized by his friends for no reason!" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"We shouldn’t meddle in others’ affairs. Take it as a lesson."
"It’s all her fault!"
The chubby woman gave Chen Wenyu a harsh glare before stomping off with her companions while cursing. Only when their voices faded did Chen Wenyu lift her head.
Being scolded was something Chen Wenyu had expected. But seeing those women, she no longer had the courage to face them openly as she once did when she spun her tales. The love she once believed in, the man she would have done anything to keep, now felt ridiculous and made her feel despicable.
Why did she come here?
Chen Wenyu asked herself once more, her cluttered thoughts leaving her with no answer.
Gazing into the distance, she waited patiently until the person who once made her unbearably jealous appeared in her sight, at which point she took a step forward without hesitation.
