Chapter 83: Chapter 83 I Want to Remarry You (1)

"Bastard, are you tired of living? If you want to die, don’t drag me into it!" The man had just come back from the restroom. When he saw his man harassing Mi Wan, he was immediately terrified. He rushed over with his pants still unbuttoned, and kicked the guy to the ground.

"Ow! Boss, why are you kicking so hard!" The thug fell to the ground, groaning and complaining.

The man didn’t say a word, angrily kicked the thug again, then smiled flatteringly, "Miss, this beast doesn’t know any better. I’ll teach him a good lesson. Please go ahead."

Mi Wan gave the man a cold glance, said nothing, and walked into the building, heading upstairs.

"Boss, who is that woman?" From the man’s attitude, the thug realized he had almost offended someone he shouldn’t have, and asked timidly.

"Keep your eyes peeled from now on. That was Fourth Young Master Shen’s sister-in-law, someone even Boss Hei doesn’t dare to touch!" the man spat angrily, "Damn it, be alert! If anything happens, you and I won’t have a good time!"

The man’s voice was rough and loud. Although Mi Wan had walked away, she could still vaguely hear what he was saying.

Boss Hei?

So they were from the Black Dragon Gang.

Mi Wan immediately understood and quickened her pace, heading straight for her university friend Li Bing’s home.

"Didn’t I tell you to move out? Why are you still here? Do you want me to kick you out?"

"Get lost! Who knows who you’ve crossed, making our lives miserable with fires at night and snakes in the morning. Do you want us to live?"

"Exactly! Leave now! Don’t make us suffer for what you’ve done!"

As she reached the second floor, Mi Wan heard the commotion coming from upstairs, so she quickened her pace and ran to the fifth floor.

"Wan!"

Seeing Mi Wan, Li Bing looked as if she had seen a lifesaver, extremely grateful that she had come in her most difficult time.

Seeing Li Bing standing helplessly among the crowd, Mi Wan felt a surge of sympathy. She pushed through the crowd, walked to Li Bing’s side, and said to everyone, "Please give us some time to pack up. We will definitely move out by the end of today. Please rest assured."

"Who are you? Can your words be trusted?" A middle-aged woman holding a child interrogated loudly.

"I’m Li Bing’s friend. If you’re not willing to leave, then just wait here." Most of the tenants were outsiders, bringing their families along. Naturally, they were concerned for their own safety and took things seriously. Now, with their emotions running high, reasoning with them wouldn’t work. So, Mi Wan calmly said a few words before pulling Li Bing into the apartment.

"How is Mei? Is her condition improving?" Mi Wan looked at the tightly closed door on the right and asked softly.

"..."

Li Bing shook her head dejectedly, her face full of worry.

Her sister was only sixteen, always a good student, obedient and sensible. Their parents had died in a car accident. She had been married for three years but divorced because she couldn’t have children. Since then, she had lived with her sister. Although their life wasn’t wealthy, it wasn’t poor either, and they were content.

But a stroke of misfortune shattered their peaceful life. Her sister was raped by Hei Ziyi on her way back from evening self-study. They reported it to the police, and Hei Ziyi was temporarily detained. But the Black Dragon Gang kept causing trouble, forcing them to drop the lawsuit.

Because of this, she hadn’t gone to work for several days and didn’t dare to go out. She relied on friends to buy food and necessities, but the Black Dragon Gang members blocked the building. Friends came once but were too scared to return. Now, only Mi Wan was still willing to come to her.

In fact, her relationship with Mi Wan wasn’t exactly close. They were dorm mates in university but hadn’t really talked deeply. At most, they were ordinary classmates, occasionally meeting each other at reunions over the years since they both stayed in Jin City.

"You and Mei should move to my place."

Now that the landlord and neighbors were kicking them out, Mi Wan knew Li Bing had no relatives in Jin City. Given their circumstances, it wasn’t possible to stay in a hotel or rent another place. Mi Wan felt safe for now, thanks to Mi Jing, so the Black Dragon Gang shouldn’t bother her. Her place seemed ideal.

"No, I’m already troubling you too much..."

"We’re classmates. Don’t be so formal. Besides, I haven’t found a buyer for my house yet, so it’s empty anyway," Mi Wan interrupted, "Pack your things. Mei needs peace and can’t stay here anymore."

After the incident, Li Mei had been excessively quiet and withdrawn, fearing strangers. So, Mi Wan had Li Bing hold Mei while she carried their luggage.

As they went downstairs, the two Black Dragon Gang members were already gone. Mi Wan didn’t think much of it, assuming they’d just left temporarily. But Li Bing asked suspiciously, "Why did those thugs leave? They used to guard 24/7."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." Li Bing nodded firmly.

Upon hearing this, Mi Wan said nothing more, steering confidently. Suddenly, through the rearview mirror, she noticed a car tailing them.

This car seemed to have been following her. She hadn’t paid attention earlier, thinking it was coincidental. But now that she had left the rental, it still followed. Coincidence?

"Bingbing, note the license plate number of that black Chevrolet behind us."

Without knowing who was following them, Mi Wan drove steadily and calmly told Li Bing.

"Oh. Okay."

Although she didn’t understand the purpose, Li Bing didn’t ask. She glanced at Li Mei, who was silent, then looked out the window and noted the plate number of the black Chevrolet following them.

"Got it." Li Bing entered the plate number into her phone and asked Mi Wan, "Should I send it to you?"

"Yes."

Mi Wan answered simply, "You and Mei, hold tight. I’ll speed up."

With that, she stepped on the gas, the car quickly gaining speed, pulling further ahead from the trailing vehicle.

Swoosh—

The car sped forward like an untamed horse, frantically overtaking vehicles, leaving the black Chevrolet far behind.

"Wan, did you learn to race before?"
