Chapter 92: Chapter 92 Marry Her and Make Her My Wife (1)
After treating He Zerui’s wound, Mi Wan’s gaze glanced over at Li Bing, whose expression was despondent. Seeing her eyes remain fixed on He Zerui, as a fellow woman, although their experiences were not identical, Mi Wan could largely understand her feelings and thoughts.
Being a woman, being a woman who wants to have her own child, infertility itself is already regretful and a significant blow. But being abandoned by her husband because of it is an agony that cannot be adequately described by the words "pitiful" or "tragic." It’s likely no matter how strong-hearted a woman is, she cannot stay indifferent and will inevitably be hurt.
As the saying goes, where there is love, there is hurt!
Imagine, at the time of marriage, receiving blessings from friends and family, making solemn and sincere vows that moved hearts together. But in the end, those romantic and touching vows and the love that once moved oneself turned into a sharp knife, deeply wounding the heart, telling you it was all a joke! "Regardless of sickness and health, till death do us part" seemed like nothing more than a fart, fading away after the sound, leaving no trace.
Just like with her and Song Guotao, who once swore they could accept any of her flaws and imperfections. But what was the reality? In his eyes, she was just a worn-out shoe. This fact hurt and humiliated her far more than him having another woman outside.
Thinking of this, Mi Wan remembered what her mother said when she gave her a business card before she went out. Women, divorce isn’t scary; finding another man who cherishes you can still bring happiness. Then her mom mentioned arranged meetings, emphasizing over and over that the man was good and she should seize the opportunity.
"Bingbing, do you want to go to an arranged meeting?" Mi Wan had accompanied Mi Jing once for an arranged meeting; the scene was uncomfortable even though she wasn’t the one directly involved. Two strangers had to talk intimately, answering each other’s nerve-wracking questions they wouldn’t usually share with a stranger.
Because of this, like Mi Jing, Mi Wan was very averse to arranged meetings regardless of how good the man’s conditions were. Just thinking of sitting face-to-face with someone who might want to ask about her whole life made her feel the awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere.
"I have considered it. Colleagues suggested introducing someone to me, but given my situation, I think it’s better to forget it!" Li Bing didn’t hide anything from Mi Wan and honestly expressed her thoughts.
Upon hearing, Mi Wan smiled and said, "Don’t keep dwelling on the past. Not every man in this world is keen on having kids. There are many men who already have children and are looking to remarry, so your issue, in a certain sense, isn’t really an issue at all."
"Haha, what you say makes sense. But why the sudden interest in asking me this?" Li Bing asked skeptically.
"My mom arranged an introduction for me. This is the person’s business card; take a look." Mi Wan took out the card from her bag and handed it to Li Bing.
"It looks good; you should go meet him." After looking at the card, Li Bing felt the person’s conditions were quite good; he worked at a TV station and was a supervisor, potentially knowledgeable with economic stability.
"I don’t want to go. How about I accompany you to meet him? Whether suitable or not, we’ll think and decide after you’ve met him; what do you think?"
"This... this is the person Auntie introduced to you; how could I..."
Li Bing looked troubled, but Mi Wan said, "I’ve just divorced and don’t want to consider remarriage now. I accepted the card simply to avoid my mom’s nagging. So, you don’t need to feel any psychological burden. If you think it’s okay, we can arrange to meet him sometime."
"Alright." Li Bing agreed readily without any pretense.
After the two agreed, Mi Wan shifted her attention to He Zerui. She chatted with him briefly, noting he hadn’t eaten lunch yet. She then went into the kitchen and cooked him a bowl of noodles according to his preferred taste. Only after he was full did Mi Wan take him home.
Arriving at the He Family’s door, before she pressed the doorbell, someone ran out to open the door.
"Young Master!"
"Is Uncle back yet?" He Zerui looked at the man standing by the door and asked deeply. Though merely a child, the authority and nobility he exuded were often unmatched by adults, making one awestruck.
"N-no." The man stammered.
So young, yet so authoritative!
Mi Wan couldn’t help but marvel. But then He Zerui suddenly raised his hand and addressed Mi Wan, "Sister, do you think the curtains on our second floor are nice?"
Curtains?
He Zerui’s question baffled Mi Wan, making her wonder. But she raised her head simultaneously.
At around two in the afternoon, though winter, the sun was somewhat glaring. Faintly, Mi Wan felt she saw a shadow flash past the second-floor window, then disappear behind the curtains. Surprised, she blinked and looked again but saw nothing of the previous fleeting scene.
What was happening today?
Mi Wan frowned, thinking she was hallucinating, so she didn’t pay much attention and smiled at He Zerui, replying, "They look quite nice."
"Oh." A strange color flashed in He Zerui’s eyes, then he said, "Uncle and I chose the curtains together."
Hearing this, Mi Wan smiled again and said, "You must have a great relationship with your uncle."
"Yes, it’s quite good." He Zerui slightly turned his body and invited, "Sister, do you have other things to do? If not, why don’t you come in and sit for a while?"
"No, I won’t sit."
Li Mei’s case still needed her to follow up, so Mi Wan refused He Zerui’s invitation and said, "Zerui, Auntie will come to see you another day when she’s free. If you’re bored at home, you can come to Auntie’s house to play. Sometimes, I might not be home, but Li Bing Auntie will be. Also, don’t forget; it’s best to keep the wound dry."
Though merely a small wound and children usually heal quickly, Mi Wan still reminded He Zerui meticulously. She didn’t treat him as a stranger she just met but showed friendly concern and the care of an elder towards a younger.
Probably because she had children herself, she naturally felt a sense of unrestrainable concern for children.
"Alright, see you next time." He Zerui pressed his lips, revealing a rare smile.
He Zerui stood at the door, watching Mi Wan’s figure leave. After a while, he suddenly raised his head. At the second-floor window, half-open before, a tall figure had appeared.
