Flash Marriage: In His Eyes-Chapter 198: Jane as Villianess
–Jane–
Kai’s message was clear enough. The Red Bull still hasn’t stopped searching for me. They know I’m a valuable asset to Livana—too valuable to lose. And Livana, in her overprotective nature, only makes me easier to track.
A loud meow echoed through the villa, and there goes our cat, Moon. I picked him up before he wandered off too far.
"So, hot spring?" Logan asked, and I instantly cringed.
"Come on, they didn’t fuck in the water," he added quickly, like he could read my mind.
"Their babies are probably swimming in that water," I muttered dryly.
He burst out laughing, and Kai followed along once he got what I meant.
"So, I heard from Sophia that I shouldn’t get swayed by the ladies," Kai said, chuckling.
"Yeah, Sophia will probably kill you," Logan replied.
We headed back to the villa as Logan introduced him to everyone. I showed Kai to the spare room next to mine. Not even five minutes later, he came out half-naked—just cotton shorts and a robe hanging loosely off his shoulders.
"Where are you going?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"To the hot spring," he said casually.
I cringed again.
"There’s actually a spot with a waterfall—natural spring water, far from where they had their little orgy," he added, gesturing.
I sighed. "Fine."
I didn’t pack bikinis, but I did bring something that wouldn’t melt in hot water. I was planning to soak after everyone fell asleep, but with Kai here, at least I wouldn’t feel completely out of place.
I slipped on my robe and went out to the spring. Kai waved at me from across the rocks, and there was a small basin tub beside him filled with water—Moon was lounging in it like royalty.
"Did you prepare this for Moon?" I asked.
"Logan did," Kai said, eyes closed, leaning against the stones.
I hung my robe on the bench and stepped into the hot water across from him.
"Tell me," I said, "how are they?"
"I’m actually with Sophia," he replied. "But she went off somewhere."
I narrowed my eyes. "Hmm. You left Sophia?"
"Hey, she’s the one who left me and told me to come here." He grabbed a towel, draped it over his head, and sighed. "Let me rest for a while. Watch over me, okay? Don’t let me drown."
I leaned back against the stones and glared at him. "Yeah, sure. Just so you’ll keep your eyes off everyone’s boobs."
He chuckled, eyes still closed. "They’re tempting, I’ll admit. But I keep repeating Sophia’s name in my head."
I rolled my eyes and glanced toward the other pool, where the girls were giggling and drinking. Kenzo waved, and I gave a polite nod—but no, I wasn’t joining that chaos.
Then Logan slid in next to me. I immediately moved away.
"Hey, do I look like someone with a contagious illness?"
"You are contagious," I said flatly, shifting farther, but he moved closer again.
"Hey, guys!" Sophia’s voice rang through the air. She waved before making her way toward Kenzo.
"Sophia! Welcome back!" Kenzo greeted her.
"Thank you," she giggled. "Well, I’ll be joining them."
Then she turned to us, shrugged off her robe, and—oh, of course—slid right next to Kai, straddling him without hesitation. His arms wrapped around her, and they kissed like they owned the place.
"I swear, if both of you start fucking here—"
"Then we should do the same," Logan interrupted, far too casually.
Sophia giggled and winked at me.
They gave me goosebumps—not the good kind.
Logan handed me a ceramic bottle. "Sake," he said.
I took it and downed a sip—only to frown. "This is pineapple juice."
He burst out laughing. I rolled a damp towel, snapped it into a makeshift whip, and started lashing at him.
"Ahh!" he cried dramatically, like he was enjoying it way too much.
I stopped mid-swing, disgusted. "You’re disgusting."
Kai was still laughing with Sophia, and I shot them both looking sharp enough to kill.
"Stop it," I hissed.
A loud meow cut through the noise.
"Alright, I’m leaving. My kid needs tending."
I rose, wrapped my robe around me, and grabbed a towel for Moon. He meowed as I scooped him up.
"Why leave so fast?" Sophia called out. "I just got here."
"It’s fine," I said, glancing at Logan. "You guys have fun."
I smirked before looking toward the wild pool party nearby. When I turned back, Logan was sneering.
Sophia laughed. "Bro, I think you just got rejected."
I didn’t even bother answering.
"I’m leaving," I said simply, hugging Moon as I walked toward the women’s locker room.
Inside, I changed while Moon sat wrapped in his towel, behaving like the gentleman he is. Then I noticed a small drying box for cats. Convenient. I placed him inside, and he flopped on his back, content. I finally turned it on and he wasn’t even bothered.
"Jane-san."
I turned to see Keiko—robe half-open, her chest doing most of the talking.
"Keiko," I greeted with a smile. "What’s up?"
"Ano..." Her timid tone could melt most Japanese men. Too bad I’m not one of them. Neither is Kai, for that matter.
"Are you and Logan—"
"What about Logan?" I interrupted, tilting my head.
She shook her head quickly. "Nothing."
I smiled faintly. "Do you really like Logan that much that you’ve started misunderstanding my relationship with him?"
Her eyes widened.
"If Logan flirts with me, that’s his problem, not mine."
Her expression faltered—offended, maybe.
"No offense," I added dryly.
I turned off the dryer and lifted Moon from the box. He yowled and jumped from my arms, and as I turned to catch him—
Something flashed.
Keiko lunged at me, a hairpin in hand—the exact one Logan gifted her.
I caught her wrist mid-strike and slapped her hard across the face. She fell to the floor, wailing.
The girls who entered screamed at the sight, rushing to scoop her up as she cried.
Wait, so she’s the victim now and I’m the villain?
Wow. Figures.
–Logan–
I honestly don’t know what just happened, but the girls were staring daggers at Jane like she’d personally burned their favorite handbags. All I heard was, "Jane slapped her."
Sophia folded her arms and gave me that look before elbowing me.
"This is your fault. You shouldn’t have flirted with Jane."
I blinked. "What? I didn’t even—okay, maybe a little. But Jane wouldn’t just slap someone unless she had a reason."
Still, my curiosity itched. Why would Jane go that far? She’s not the type to lash out without cause. But knowing her, she’d rather bury a secret than talk about it.
She came out of the building then, Moon in her arms, her face unreadable. She only glanced at me—cold, unbothered—then walked away like nothing happened.
"Damn," Sophia muttered beside me. "I think it’s because you stopped sleeping with Keiko."
I turned to her, deadpan. "Excuse me?"
"Women are complicated, you know," she teased, nudging my arm before Kai came strolling out. She immediately jumped onto him, wrapping her arms around his neck like a koala. The two disappeared, laughing.
I sighed. "Yeah, complicated."
I headed back to my room, which was conveniently right across Jane’s. I knocked—no response. Knocked again. Finally, the door creaked open.
"Jane—"
"Tsk." She sighed like I was a walking inconvenience. "You really shouldn’t be at my door."
"Why not?" I leaned on the frame, grinning.
She rolled her eyes. "Because you’re trouble."
I chuckled. "So you just slap fragile girls now?"
Her gaze snapped to mine—sharp, cutting.
"I don’t think she’s that fragile."
That told me everything. I’d seen the hairpin in Keiko’s hand earlier, the one I had given her. She wouldn’t bring it into a locker room just to fix her hair.
"Since she’s been suspecting we’re having an affair," I said slowly, smirking, "why not make it real?"
Jane’s brows furrowed. "Are you stupid?"
Before she could shut the door, I caught her wrist. My tone softened. "I like you, Jane. No matter what people say."
Her expression didn’t change, but her eyes flicked to the hall. Keiko was standing there, pretending to pass by. Perfect.
I nudged Jane back into the room and closed the door behind us. Then I leaned close enough for her to feel my breath near her ear. "I trust you, no matter what."
Her lips curled faintly. "Should I still play the villainess then? Be the one everyone hates?"
I smiled, amused. "Whatever you desire, my lady."
She shoved me, hard. My back hit the door with a thud.
"I never expected you to be so feisty," I teased, voice raised just enough to sell the act.
She swung a fist at me—I caught it midair. Then another—she faked it and nailed me in the ribs. Wham.
"Stop pissing me off," she hissed through gritted teeth.
What followed wasn’t exactly a fight. It was chaos. I tried dodging, blocking, weaving—she moved like a damn assassin. I stumbled back, tripped onto her bed, and she pounced, straddling me as her fists rained down. I caught both her wrists, struggling to keep her still while she twisted like a wild cat.
The door suddenly burst open.
"Holy shit!" Kai froze, eyes wide. He slammed the door behind him and turned on the lights. "Can you two not kill each other for five minutes?"
Jane took advantage of my distraction and drove her fist straight into my stomach. Thud. I groaned, curling up.
"Ah—ow—okay—time out—" I wheezed.
Kai winced. "Damn, that hurt me just watching it."
Before I could reply, the door opened again.
"Are you guys making out?" Sophia gasped dramatically, eyes gleaming. She shut the door with a loud click.
Jane crossed her arms, glaring.
"Why are all of you here?" I muttered, sitting up.
Moon, unbothered by the chaos, climbed onto his makeshift cardboard bed, turned twice, and flopped down. Typical cat.
"We just wanted to see how you two fuck," Sophia said with a wicked grin, high-fiving Kai.
"Okay, get out." Jane grabbed my arm, practically dragging me toward the door.
"I’d rather stay," I said, grinning.
"Yeah, stay," Kai echoed, tugging Sophia closer as she giggled.
Jane ignored them, locked the windows, then gently draped a blanket over Moon. Her movements were sharp but careful—classic Jane.
"Jane," I said softly, "you do realize I’m doing this for you, right?"
She exhaled. "And now I’m the villain in their eyes."
"So?" I shrugged and opened her cabinet, pulling out a futon, a pillow, and a comforter. I spread them neatly on the floor.
She frowned. "What are you doing?"
I grinned. "Let’s just pretend we’re fucking, okay?"
