Flash Marriage: In His Eyes-Chapter 289: Keeping it Simple
–Laura–
It’s been a while since Damien, and I woke up this late. No twins demanding breakfast, no tiny feet running across the hallway, no little voices calling for us before the sun even thinks of rising.
I miss them, of course. I always do.
But right now? I want to keep my husband to myself for just a little while longer.
He’s always so attentive—always answering their needs before his own.
Damien pressed a kiss to my stomach, grinning as if he already knew what was running through my head.
"So," he murmured, warm breath against my skin, "do you think it’s twins again?"
"God," I laughed softly, running my fingers through his hair, "I really hope not."
For our upcoming checkup, we’ll finally get to see our baby. The last time, we were too careful, too discreet, trying not to draw attention. Now, it feels real. Tangible.
Damien showered me with kisses the way he always does—unhurried, familiar—hands lingering on places he loves most. My body responded instinctively, comfortably, like it always does with him.
We made love slowly, gently, savoring the quiet morning and each other.
Afterward, I finally pulled myself together, dressing and preparing to go downstairs.
When we reached the main living room, chaos greeted us in the best way possible.
The kids were dancing and singing, full of energy, cheeks flushed, and bodies slick with sweat. Choco bounced around them, mimicking their movements, which made everything even more adorable.
By the sofa lay Lore, a white sheet mask covering his face, snoring without shame. Alyssa sat beside him, clearly bored, carefully cleaning his nails.
"Hey," she greeted us with a smile. "It’s already afternoon."
"Thank you for taking care of the babies," I said sincerely.
"My pleasure," she mumbled. "I was bored anyway."
I settled onto the long sofa as Damien headed to the kitchen.
"Do you like my gift?" I asked her.
"Yes," Alyssa giggled. "I love it. I’ll use it well."
Zayvier approached me and pressed a kiss to my stomach.
"Hi, Mommy. Hello, baby."
My heart melted instantly.
"Oh, Kuya is so sweet," I said, pulling him close and kissing his forehead. I reached for a towel, wiping the sweat from his brow and back before snuggling him against me. He returned my affection with enthusiastic kisses.
Damn... I missed him so much.
"Mommy!" Zendaya rushed over, Sky trailing behind her.
"Mommy!" Sky echoed.
"Play! Party!" Zendaya announced—clearly referring to her beloved tea party.
"Yes, sure," I said, laughing as I wiped her sweat. Sky climbed up and plopped down beside me.
"Foodie!" he suddenly shouted.
Lore startled awake.
"Go back to sleep!" Alyssa groaned, pinning him back down.
Zendaya pointed at them, then proudly showed me her nails.
"Sure," I smiled. "Ask your aunt."
"Come here," Alyssa whispered, and Zendaya giggled as she ran over. Alyssa showed her the nail polish shades.
"Fowerrr, Tata," Zendaya said sweetly.
Sky frowned, staring at his own tiny nails. "Huh?"
"It’s only for girls, baby," I told him gently while hugging Zayvier.
"Oh," he said, accepting it immediately.
Damien returned with a large tray.
"Here you go, Mommy," he said, grinning.
I took the plate just as Sky slipped off my lap and stood patiently in front of the coffee table, looking up at Damien.
"What would you like, Sir Sky?"
"Daddy, I want," he pointed decisively at the pesto pasta.
"Sure."
I tried feeding Zayvier first, but he shook his head firmly and wagged his finger at me. So dramatic—and adorable. Sky, meanwhile, looked thrilled after tasting the pasta. I don’t think that child dislikes any food.
Damien sat on the carpet, Sky on his lap, sharing the meal together.
I glanced at Alyssa, who had finally finished Lore’s nails. He was snoring again, loud and unapologetic.
She set up a small chair and table in front of Zendaya—her first official nail polish session.
I watched them all, my heart full.
No matter what’s happening around us, they deserve days like this. Normal. Happy.
"Choco," Zendaya pointed, and Choco obediently sat beside her, placing his paws up.
He really is the best nanny dog.
Louie entered then, wearing a full suit, briefcase in hand.
"Lore," he said, shaking him awake.
Lore peeled off the gel mask slowly. "Hmm?"
"Good. You’re awake."
"What the hell," Lore muttered.
"Happy birthday, Aly."
A butler entered with several elegant boxes.
"They’re for me and our parents."
"Wow," Alyssa gaped. "That’s a lot."
"Pretty," Zendaya said, pointing.
"Yes," Alyssa replied calmly. "We’ll open them later."
Lore finally sat up, blinking like a zombie.
"Sup?" he yawned.
"Geez," Louie sighed. "You need to work out." He turned to me. "Anyway, I sorted things out at the company. I need you back at the office."
I blinked—hard.
"But I work from home."
Louie sighed again. "Please, Laura."
"Alright," I said, finishing my pesto pasta as Damien added a fried chicken thigh onto my plate.
"Lore," Louie continued, "let’s go. We need to discuss something."
Hmm.
Very intriguing.
–Alyssa–
I squirmed in excitement the moment I saw it—a beautiful leather jacket, limited edition, Ferrari, and another Lamborghini leather jacket. My heart actually fluttered. I slipped into my leather jeans and black ankle-high Louboutin heels, then reached for the black Hermès bag customized perfectly for the outfit.
I turned to Lore and twirled.
"This is perfect for the Ferrari Damon gave me later. I’ll test the Lamborghini too!" I squealed, barely containing myself.
My niece stood beside me, holding her mini Kelly, checking herself in the full-length mirror. She even blew herself a kiss.
"Fine," Lore said flatly.
I pouted and glanced at Sky, who was proudly showing off his freshly painted nails to him.
Lore noticed immediately.
"Damn. Can you remove this?"
"No." I rolled my eyes.
We packed everything quickly. The van was already waiting outside. I’d be driving my Ferrari with Lore—my student license paired with his professional one. It was a three-hour drive back to the apartment, and we had to leave early so I could try the gifts they gave me.
I’d already finished writing thank-you messages to all the guests.
Except for the one who killed the cat.
About that cat?
I’m going to find out who did it.
And I’m going to ruin them.
"Aly, have you packed everything?" Mom asked.
I nodded. Staff moved efficiently, loading stroller bags onto the luggage trolley. I double-checked everything—especially the gifts.
The most important one?
Lore’s gift.
The box was still unopened. Unsolved.
I’d take my time with it.
Or maybe I should destroy the box just to see what’s inside.
Curiosity was already killing me.
The kids settled into their designated seats while I approached my silver Ferrari. Lore stood there holding a helmet, wearing a leather coat that matched mine.
"Why do you have a helmet?" I asked.
"For safety purposes," he replied.
I sneered.
I hopped in and handed him my purse. He strapped himself in first, put the helmet on, and held my purse like a proper lady. I laughed as I started the engine and revved it.
The sound was pure music.
I grinned at him and turned on the music from my phone. We followed the van as I sang while driving.
"Please, stop it!" he hissed, finally removing the helmet and stuffing it into the back compartment. "Let me drive."
"Hell no! This is my baby." I patted the steering wheel—engraved with my initials, fully customized.
"You didn’t complain about the color. Damon didn’t know what you wanted."
"Why would I complain? As long as it’s a sports car." I grinned. "I can customize it later. Stickers. Paint. Whatever."
"Oh." He nodded.
"You overthink rich kids," I said gently. "You’re one too. You just chose to work early."
"Hmm. Whatever."
Silence settled between us.
I scrolled through the tablet and changed the song. Lore gently repositioned my hands on the wheel.
"Just tell me what song you want."
"Lore," I said, glancing at him.
"Hmm?"
"What’s in the box?"
"Find out yourself," he replied. "And when you unlock it, tell me if you’d still agree."
"I don’t understand," I sighed. "Agree to what?"
"Just—drive."
"Okay."
We finally reached the Blackwell residence. That residence.
Livana wasn’t in the van—she had urgent business with Jane and Logan. But Lore and Logan had already prepared everything I needed. All I had to do was ask Patrick—the one who delivered the gift—about who sent it.
After unloading a few things, I dragged Lore with me toward the café where Patrick was waiting. He looked half-asleep but followed anyway. Eventually, I realized I didn’t have to drag him at all.
Before getting into my pink mini Jimny—Grandma and Grandpa’s gift—I turned to him.
"Do you want to come?"
"Do you want to get kidnapped again?" He pushed me toward the driver’s seat. "I’m going to sleep."
"Are you working tonight?" I asked as I circled to my side and started the engine. The sound instantly made me happy.
"Three cars?" he asked.
"More." I giggled. "Caine bought me a Hummer—perfect for mountains!"
"I didn’t know you loved cars."
"I do. Didn’t you notice my collection in my room?"
He tilted his head. "Maybe. Everything’s either pink or Barbie-adjacent."
"Okay, fair." I laughed. "But I love the jackets your mom and dad picked!"
"Sure."
"We’re like twins!" I added.
"Whatever, Aly. Are you treating me today?"
"Sure." I shrugged. "What do you want?"
"Mall. Food. Walking around. Parking. Whatever. I need to walk."
"Fine." I shrugged again. "Sounds like a date."
"Yeah."
I blinked and turned to him, surprised.
...Is it actually a date?
