Chapter 690: Chapter 689: Seeking death! Bang!

He looked serious, as if he had encountered a major event. He’d never worn such an expression, not even during assassinations or gunfights.

Maxwell Peary had to take this seriously. His eagle-like eyes scanned the surroundings but found nothing out of the ordinary.

"What’s wrong?"

Was he losing his touch? He hadn’t sensed anything unusual.

Owen Lewis looked at Maxwell Peary, his serious face showing a hint of feigned calmness.

"Boss, your shoe is dirty."

"BANG!"

Without a word, Maxwell Peary kicked him!

Completely unprepared, Owen Lewis was kicked and staggered back several steps.

"PFFT... COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..."

So ruthless!

"Boss, you’re attempting murder!"

Owen Lewis was so exasperated he stamped his foot, involuntarily rubbing his abdomen.

HISS—

Painful!

That was a solid kick from Maxwell Peary. It would probably hurt for at least three to five days.

"You’re courting death!"

Maxwell Peary delivered his verdict and, without another glance at Owen Lewis, walked away.

Owen Lewis stood there grimacing. Indeed, you couldn’t joke with the boss.

"How am I courting death? This is obviously serious."

At least, from what he recalled, Maxwell Peary was always impeccably dressed, his leather shoes gleaming.

Seeing a large footprint on the CEO’s leather shoes today was genuinely astonishing; it would be stranger if he *wasn’t* surprised.

Who would dare step on the CEO’s shoes?

That person must be dead by now, right?

"Hey! Boss! This is really serious! Don’t go!"

Owen Lewis chased after him, clamoring endlessly.

His lower abdomen throbbed with a dull ache. He even felt like going to the Hospital to check for internal injuries.

"Go back and finish all the tasks piled up over there. If you haven’t completed them by tomorrow, you’ll face the consequences!"

Maxwell Peary stopped, turned his head towards Owen Lewis, said his piece, and then stepped into the elevator.

He left!

So ruthless!

Damn it!

"Boss!"

There’s no way I can finish all that work!

Even if Alan Morgan were here, we couldn’t finish it all!

「One hour later」

Owen Lewis dumped a large pile of documents into his car and, with a VROOOM, sped off straight to the Hospital.

Owen Lewis walked into a VIP Ward at a Hospital in Capital Town, carrying a huge stack of files.

"Moving house?"

Alan Morgan and Gerry Peary were sitting close together on the hospital bed, a fairy tale book open in front of them.

Owen Lewis raised an eyebrow, taking a longer look at Gerry Peary.

"I heard you looked just like him when you were a child?"

Owen Lewis pointed at Gerry Peary.

Alan Morgan raised an eyebrow. What did his own childhood appearance have to do with Owen Lewis?

"If you’ve got nothing better to do, get lost. Don’t interrupt our father-son bonding time."

Alan Morgan replied very rudely. The medical instruments had been removed long ago; now, with his clothes on, you couldn’t tell he was injured just by looking at him.

Well, his face was still a little pale.

Alan Morgan was sitting on the hospital bed, still unable to get out of it.

"Who says I’ve got nothing to do?"

Owen Lewis promptly dumped the files onto the table in front of Alan Morgan, instantly burying the fairy tale book.

Uh...

"What are you doing?" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Alan Morgan looked displeased.

"Making you do what you’re supposed to do, of course. This was your job before, so hurry up and finish it."

Owen Lewis didn’t show the slightest hint of asking for a favor; he just stood there issuing orders.

Alan Morgan completely ignored him, turning instead to look at Gerry Peary beside him.

"Are you hungry?"

Gerry Peary pouted upon hearing this.

"I want to eat the steamed egg custard Mommy makes."

Gerry Peary suddenly spoke, his eyes filling with sadness at the mention of his mother.

"Daddy, why hasn’t Mommy come to see Gerry yet? Is it because Gerry was naughty and kept wanting to find Daddy, so Mommy got angry and doesn’t want Gerry anymore?"
