Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 703 - 702: Most Likely Trying to Pull Some Strings
Flying off the handle after just a few words was a common tactic for many people.
The manager stood there, utterly at a loss.
No matter which side he offended, he’d be in trouble. He simply couldn’t decide and didn’t know how to choose. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Offending this person in front of him would likely have the same consequences as offending Young Master Peary.
But then again, who could tell what kind of influence those two young women actually held? What if they weren’t important to Young Master Peary at all...
Wouldn’t he be the one to lose out then?
The manager said, "Go and talk to the two ladies inside." I might as well ask them first, he thought. After all, whether or not they agree to meet is their decision. I’ll have done what I can.
The waiter standing nearby nodded and quickly departed.
Fiona Sutton and Nia Mitchell found themselves in an awkward silence, unsure of what to do. Just then, the waiter approached their table.
Nia Mitchell asked, "What? Someone wants to see us?"
Nia Mitchell blinked. I’m studying in Capital Town and only know a handful of people, she thought. It couldn’t be any of them.
The waiter replied, "Yes. He appears to be a very influential person."
The waiter wasn’t sure who the man was, but judging by his attire and manner of speaking, he seemed quite influential.
Hearing he was influential, Nia Mitchell immediately felt like backing out.
"I refuse to meet him," Nia Mitchell stated firmly. "I’m just here to eat, and I don’t know him." With that, she resumed eating.
Fiona Sutton, however, was an astute person, despite her seemingly unreliable appearance.
"He probably wants to curry favor with your husband," Fiona Sutton concluded, believing this was the most plausible explanation.
Hearing Fiona Sutton’s words, Nia Mitchell looked up at her.
Nia Mitchell asked, "Could it be? But I don’t think many people know my identity."
Nia Mitchell looked incredulous, but deep down, she was already leaning towards Fiona Sutton’s assessment.
Fiona Sutton took a sip of her drink, then looked at Nia Mitchell. "For people like that, finding out your identity is too easy. There are always clues they can follow."
Fiona Sutton then asked, "So, tell me, if you refuse, do you think that person will just leave?"
Nia Mitchell didn’t want to even consider Fiona Sutton’s question.
Nia Mitchell exclaimed, "I’ve already refused. What else could he do if he doesn’t leave?"
Nia Mitchell stared at Fiona Sutton in disbelief, her eyes filled with utter confusion.
Seeing her reaction, Fiona Sutton shook her head. It would truly be an accomplishment if Maxwell Peary could ever teach Nia Mitchell the ways of the world.
Before Fiona Sutton could say anything more, the manager had already approached their table.
The manager said, "Miss, the chairman of X Corporation wishes to see you."
Now that the manager had spoken, Nia Mitchell could no longer pretend she hadn’t heard.
"Really? But I just came here to eat today. I don’t want to meet anyone," Nia Mitchell said, sitting there awkwardly with an apologetic look.
Faced with her refusal, the manager felt even more troubled.
"This..." The manager looked hesitant.
Fiona Sutton, sitting to one side, watched the manager’s hesitation with an impatient expression.
"What more is there to say? If we tell you to leave, then just leave. What are you wasting time here for?" Fiona Sutton rolled her eyes at him and then continued eating.
Hearing Fiona Sutton’s sharp words, the manager nodded repeatedly.
"Yes, yes, you’re absolutely right, Miss. I’ll leave right away. Please, continue your meal. I won’t disturb you any further." After saying this, the manager immediately turned and left, disappearing from sight within thirty seconds.
Nia Mitchell asked, "Weren’t you a bit too harsh?"
Nia Mitchell looked at Fiona Sutton with a helpless expression.
