Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 760 - 759: You Are Not Allowed To Have Children
After saying this, Maxwell Peary stood before Mr. Mitchell.
"Dad."
He called out naturally.
"We came here in a hurry this time and didn’t have a chance to pay a proper visit. I’m truly sorry. Our marriage was also very rushed. When we officially hold our wedding ceremony, I’ll make up for everything we’ve missed."
Maxwell Peary spoke with genuine sincerity. The typically proud man had likely never uttered such humble words in his entire life.
Listening to him, Nia Mitchell’s eyes welled up with tears.
Maxwell Peary was equally moved.
He had initially thought that Nia wouldn’t reveal their relationship during this visit. To his surprise, she had. Now he could stand proudly before her father in his true capacity. He could hardly express the emotions welling up inside him. It felt strange, truly strange.
"As long as you treat Nia well, I don’t mind anything else," Mr. Mitchell said.
Maxwell nodded. He didn’t need anyone telling him to treat his own wife well.
Deeply touched, Nia Mitchell reached out and held the CEO’s hand, her heart overflowing with emotion.
It was he who had brought warmth into her life. If it weren’t for him, she couldn’t imagine where she’d be struggling now.
"I hope you two can hold your wedding ceremony as soon as possible."
This was Mr. Mitchell’s request. Even though they had a marriage certificate, his daughter was still in an improper position. It was as if she were merely a mistress, unrecognized by society. How could a respectable young woman bear such a reputation? It would be a lifelong wound, an indelible stain.
"We might not be able to do it anytime soon," Maxwell Peary stated directly, not mincing his words.
Mr. Mitchell was taken aback. He hadn’t expected him to be so blunt, without beating around the bush at all.
"What do you mean by that?" Mr. Mitchell asked, frowning, not understanding what Maxwell Peary was getting at.
"I have many plans this year that are still incomplete. I simply can’t squeeze out enough time to be with her properly, nor do I have time to arrange a wedding. Besides, wedding preparations require time."
His wedding, of course, would have to be unique, a sensation that would astound the world. It wasn’t something that could be prepared in a short amount of time.
"Then when do you plan to hold the wedding?"
Mr. Mitchell’s thinking was deeply rooted in Cezan tradition. To him, merely possessing a marriage certificate wasn’t tantamount to being truly married. Only a wedding banquet signified a real marriage, an announcement to the world that his daughter was wed. Right now, having only a marriage certificate felt secretive, almost furtive.
"Next year."
That was likely the soonest it could be, Maxwell thought.
Mr. Mitchell frowned, looking at the two of them. "You can hold the wedding next year, but before then... you are not to have a child."
Nia Mitchell blushed crimson at her father’s words.
How could he discuss such a matter so openly? Whether or not to have children was their decision, wasn’t it?
"Why?"
Before the CEO could speak, Nia blurted out the question.
The moment the word left her lips, she regretted it. She probably shouldn’t have spoken up. Now, everyone was looking at her.
It was as if... as if she were desperate to have a baby! Ah! How utterly embarrassing!
"Who even knows you two are married right now? If you get pregnant, how would that child be any different from an illegitimate one? In everyone else’s eyes, you’d be an unwed mother!"
