Chapter 193: 193. |¨8

I cried myself to sleep on Snapshot-Henry and didn’t even wake up when he disappeared.

Instead, I opened my eyes what felt like much later, with my mouth and nose full of ashes. I conjured myself some water and washed up.

The white clothes I had woken up in in the laboratory had long turned black because of the ashes, with specks of dried blood. They didn’t look overly beautiful, so let’s hope that the giant wouldn’t mind.

I chuckled.

How did I know that he was after me and solely me?

It was because I couldn’t get visions about the giant after he ’noticed’ me watching when I looked into the shadows past.

I think he blocked my ability.

Next, there were the dreams.

And that he didn’t just kill us by stomping on us but ate me alone in them, not Henry.

Then, Henry told me I was possessed by something strong after the four shadows entered me. I dreamed of being in a strange body later.

I think that thing somehow used these shadows as a portal, switching bodies with me for a short time.

Next was the vision where he destroyed that high-end city and stopped when he ’noticed’ my gaze.

I don’t—no, I can’t think about why this was the case because my sanity was already balancing on a rope, with crocodiles below it. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

There is nothing more I can currently take.

After eating something, I tested my teleportation ability, and it worked not only well but perfectly.

No bleeding, no vomit; however, I couldn’t move more than a meter. It should be enough, though. Enough, in combination with running and climbing, to get into the holes in that giant’s rotting teeth.

Now, we need a corpse to gather long-overdue knowledge.

I conjured up Baldie and first went for my kitchen knife; this would give me two minutes by taking two things out. I sat down beside him in the ashes and took a deep breath.

There was no time to hesitate.

I started to cut along the side of his nose. There was no blood splurting out, logically, giving me a good look.

But that was just the beginning.

I cut his nose off and reached into the hole with two fingers. This nasal cavity, or whatever, was connected to the throat.

Good, I already knew that, but it’s good to get it confirmed.

I looked at the body and started to make random cuts on the nose and cheeks. I soon encountered muscles and bones. Besides the lack of blood hindering my sight, it got somewhat messy.

I didn’t understand what I was looking at, and I couldn’t get through the bones with my kitchen knife.

I put Baldie away and conjured him up again. This time I had a normal saw in my hand.

"Never thought I’d be doing shit like this one day." I placed the saw sideways on his nose and started to work until it got stuck in the cheekbone.

I neither saw anything nor did this action help me in any other way. When I used force to pull the stuck saw out again, the jagged blade was ruined, bent in all directions.

"Fuck." I put Baldie away once more and conjured him up again.

This time I punched him with full force, and after I apparently broke his nose and cheekbones, I picked the shattered bone fragments out; this time I got a better look at the insides. After I broke his upper and lower jaw, I practically had a ’side’ cut of the head, looking at a few holes in the bones.

Ah, I remember those, the paranasal sinuses. They hurt like hell the one time I came down with the flu.

I ripped the upper jaw off and pulled the whole tongue out; it looked like in the horror movies, way longer than what you can see if you stick your tongue out.

So far, so good. Still, what I was seeing now could not be compared to the insides of a giant.

I sat back and stared at my work, deep in thought.

The throat is connected to the nasal cavity. If I got swallowed, I would have to somehow stop my fall to the stomach. Then I’d climb up the throat to the nasal cavity. And then?

I placed my finger where the nose would have ended if it were still here. There was bone, the skull. I pushed against that bone, thinking about how someone told me that lobotomies or something like that would be done this way because it was the easiest route to the brain. And it really was; I instantly pushed through, and I could feel the brain.

Disgusting—it felt like octopus stuff.

I punched into Baldie’s skull, and after breaking it, I looked at the brain. There was a fluid it was lying in, and there was a bit of space at the top. But there was no space on the sides or underneath it, from what I could see.

What the hell should I do if I make it to the brain? Do I even have space there to move? If I just stab inside with a tiny little knife that isn’t even half the size of the giant’s fingernail, will that even do something to him, or will it feel like a small tickle?

Damn. I held my head and looked at the human remains in front of me.

"How do I do this? Just how?" It seemed impossible. Absolutely impossible.

I could try to separate his brain from his neck, but in between are a bunch of muscles, as far as I know.

"Let’s take a look." I ripped his head off.

Yes, as I thought, a damn bunch of muscles, and by the size of that giant, this won’t do a thing to him.

Taking a look at the coin, I saw a torso added to the hangman.

"IS THAT A FUCKING COUNTDOWN? If the hangman is complete, will it be me who dies?" Why are you doing this to me instead of helping me?

"Why the hell is my ability turning against me? Huh?"

"Fucking why?"

I kicked a few dead trees to ashes before sitting down again and closing my eyes.

"Calm down. You’ve got the teleporting figured out; you will get the rest somehow." There has to be a way.

I put Baldie away before conjuring Henry up and sideways leaning my head on his chest while looking at the sky.

There was absolutely nothing there. Not even the light of stars that had died at some point, with their light only millions of years later reaching the planet.

"Even the light of dead stars had died. Everything here is dead." I mumbled.
