Chapter 779: Chapter 779: It’s Up to You

Upon hearing this, Evelyn Clayton understood immediately.

FIONA was most likely dissatisfied with the current management style of the jewelry design department, and coupled with her own interest in fashion design, she decided to shift to a new department.

"What are your thoughts?" Evelyn Clayton smiled, "I’d like to hear your suggestions."

FIONA raised an eyebrow, "I don’t have any suggestions, I only do design sketches. I’m here to ask you; if I find your side unsatisfactory, I’ll leave anytime."

Evelyn Clayton chuckled lightly, "Can I then assume that you don’t like Winnie Wyatt’s management style?"

FIONA scoffed, "Why else would I switch to another department, because I’m overfed? For me, doing any kind of design is the same, but if the leadership has too much unnecessary stuff going on, that’s another matter."

"You can present your requests, and I will do my utmost to make arrangements for you."

Evelyn Clayton offered her utmost sincerity.

FIONA’s expression turned serious as she scrutinized Evelyn Clayton for a moment, saying, "What do you think about the future development of the fashion design department?"

"Within a year, we’ll get the brand out there, primarily following a premium fashion path," Evelyn Clayton was succinct, "At the start, we’ll adopt a co-creation approach where everyone exchanges design inspirations, and then completes the design drafts. The one whose design stands out will take the lead designer position."

As she spoke, Evelyn Clayton paused, looking calmly at FIONA, "Just like other designers, you’ll all start at the same level and once the brand is officially launched and the clothes are online, we’ll then decide who takes the lead designer role."

FIONA smiled faintly, "I’m the chief designer at Laprite, and you’re telling me to be on the same level as junior designers? Do you think that’s fair?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Can you produce a good fashion design draft though?" Evelyn Clayton remained composed, "If you can deliver a design draft that’s already been launched and convince me, then you can take the position. As for how you handle those under you who don’t accept you, that’s up to you."

As the words fell, Evelyn Clayton saw satisfaction in FIONA’s eyes.

Evelyn Clayton’s heart eased slightly.

It seemed that this seemingly laid-back chief designer at Laprite was quite ambitious.

But FIONA neither affirmed nor denied Evelyn Clayton’s words, she only smiled and said, "Do you know why I don’t want to continue working under Winnie Wyatt?"

Evelyn Clayton raised her hand, "I’m all ears."

"Winnie Wyatt’s too meddlesome." FIONA lazily strolled over to the mini-fridge, took out two bottles of cold water, and handed one to Evelyn Clayton, "She masters management, treats good designers like treasures, but won’t spare a glance for the less skilled ones."

Evelyn Clayton pondered for a moment, "This should be the standard situation at design companies; isn’t that how many studios and design firms operate?"

"I don’t like it." FIONA seemed quite disdainful, "She treats me like a darling but doesn’t acknowledge my ideas and designs. Over the past year, she’s sweet-talked me into altering my design drafts according to her whims multiple times. I’ve had enough."

Hearing this, Evelyn Clayton understood a few things and found the situation somewhat amusing.

FIONA seemed difficult to get along with, but was actually admirably straightforward.

Many bosses like such capable yet straightforward individuals, thinking they’re easy to manipulate.

Of course, Evelyn Clayton also liked that.

But more so, she appreciated FIONA’s capability.

"I will respect you to the maximum extent," Evelyn Clayton grinned, "As long as you can bring in returns, anything can be negotiated."
