Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 286: I should be the King
Theo’s POV:
"You are my.... you are my father?!" the little me asked him hesitantly.
The man smirked at me. "Even this little girl seems to be wiser than you. I can’t believe that you, despite having my genes are so dumb!"
So this man is my father?! Suddenly, a lot of emotions started gushing into my heart. I always thought that once I had found my father, I would give him a warm embrace and ask him why he actually left me. But seeing this man, I didn’t feel like doing any such things. I was more disappointed that a horrid man like him was my father.
"I don’t think that you had ever loved my mother," I said to him after a while.
Without erasing the vicious smirk from his face, he said, "Boy! Have you even been listening to me or not? I just told you that your mother forced me—"
Ivory immediately came and stood in front of me. She clasped her hands together and said, "Theo, please don’t speak to this man. He is evil—"
The warrior man chuckled and said, "Evil?! I am evil?! You both are the creatures of enchanters, and you two have the audacity to call the King of the light realm evil?"
Only then did I realize who the man actually was. He is not a regular ordinary man! He is the Fae King Oberon. And I am the son of a King?! The fact was so hard for me even to believe. No! This couldn’t be it! There is no way in seven hells that I could be a prince!
"What are you thinking, boy?" my so-called father smirked. "Are you shocked that you are a prince?"
I managed to shake my head to his question. "No! I am more shocked to know that you just abandoned me. I am even more confused to realize why you hate me this much. I have done nothing bad to you."
"Boy, the fact that you even exist is a bad thing to me," he roared. "You are not even supposed to be born in this world. Your existence is a threat to me! You are the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life."
I struggled to understand how I could be a threat to him. All I ever wanted was love and affection from my father. But he was bashing me as if I were a reincarnation of the Devil.
"You are a mistake that I am supposed to live with for the rest of my life," he went on. "I will forever regret my mistake—"
I felt like I wanted to dig the soil below me and bury myself in there. Am I really a mistake that was not meant to be born? Am I that bad?!
"I am... I am..." I stammered for a while before I got my strength to speak again. "I am sorry that I have troubled you. I just came here to see you, but ... since you don’t want me, I will go back to my realm—"
I turned to Ivory, who was now giving me pity glares. This girl was right before. She told me not to follow this man, but I didn’t listen to her. Now that I thought of it, I realized that I should have never left Selene. I should have followed the advice of Cynthia and stayed in my land where people actually love me.
"Let us go home, Ivory," I said to her, and she nodded to me. Just when we were about to leave the spot, the Fae King shouted at us.
"Wait, boy! Where do you think that you are going?"
I shuddered and turned back to him. "I am going back to my land."
"No, you can’t! I won’t let you leave until you make a promise to me—"
After that, I just got annoyed by his words. What does he think of himself? Just now, he said that he didn’t want anything to do with me. And now he wants my promise?! For what?
"I won’t do anything that you say," I replied blankly.
The man smirked and grabbed my hand. Then he dragged me forcefully to the tombstone and placed my palm over the cold stone.
"Boy! Swear on this grave that you will never say to others that I am your father! Swear now—"
"But... I will never...."
"Swear now! Or else I will not hesitate to kill that little girl over there," he shouted.
Oh no! He is going to kill Ivory?! I can’t let anything happen to her. She has been my only strength for this long. She helped a lot today. I don’t want to lose my friend! It is better to do whatever he says!
"I swear that I will not say to others that you are my father," I replied to him.
An evil grin appeared on his lips. "Boy, don’t forget that you have promised on her grave! You can’t break this promise forever. If you do then.... you will be dishonoring your whore of a mother even more—"
After that, the Fae King opened a shiny golden portal, and he vanished away from the spot, leaving us alone. I was dazed to no extent. What just happened now?! I was so excited to meet my father, but he turned out to be a wicked man. And my mother... she had left me a long time ago! I have no one now!
Just when I had that thought, an Angel emerged from the darkness, and she came before me. At first, I thought that I was dreaming. She can’t be real! She had left hours ago. But when the lady knelt before me and wrapped her arms around me, I realized that she was real.
"I am really sorry, kid," Serena cried. "I never knew that the Fae King was capable of this much evil—"
Then she stood up again and opened a portal by waving her palm. "Come on, kids! I’ll take you somewhere safe—"
Even Ivory didn’t hesitate to follow Serena. We both quietly walked into the shiny portal, and immediately, the scenery around us changed. We were now in a big cottage. This must be the living place of this Angel.
Serena made us sit down on the living room couch, and she gave us both warm milk. We both gulped down the honey-mixed milk in seconds as we both were starving to death. Once Ivory finished her drink, she placed the glass at the center table before her, and she looked up at Serena.
"Why did you come back for us?"
Serena let out a sigh and sat down on the couch beside us. "Something in me told me that I shouldn’t leave you guys alone. So I followed your three till Sapphire’s grave. And I was shocked to see the true form of King Oberon! I never expected this from him—"
"But he told me that I am a mistake," I said to her. "Am I really not supposed to be born? Is my mother really bad?"
"Holy Aiden," she gasped and touched my brow hair. "I haven’t seen your mother, but I don’t think that she is bad. And you are not a mistake! Don’t trust the words of that evil man—"
"Then why did he say those awful words to me?"
Serena breathed out and responded, "I don’t know about that, kid! But I will definitely try to find out more about him. And once I do, I will rip off his mask before everyone else in this realm. An evil man like him doesn’t deserve to rule this land!"
I felt happy that she stood up for me. I almost believed his words and thought that I was really a mistake. But when Serena comforted me, I realized the truth. My mother could have done nothing bad too!
Serena was kind enough to let us both stay in her place. She tugged us both into a warm bed, and she kissed us good night. Once Serena left the room, Ivory, who was lying next to me, turned to my side and said, "I think that it would be for the best if we left tomorrow morning!"
"No," I snapped. "We are not going to leave until we find out the truth about the Fae King. We have to show others how bad he is. Or else what could happen to the people of this land?"
"Well, it is not our problem, Theo," she said. "We don’t have to interfere in their affairs. We don’t even live here, Theo. Why should we have to help them?"
"Ivory, it doesn’t matter if we live here or not! We should help these people!"
"And why do you want to do that? Are you trying to become the Prince of this realm? Or do you want to be the King?"
Then I realized that Ivory had given me a good idea. I am the Prince of this realm. So I can be the King if I defeat Oberon! I should do that for the sake of the innocent people in this realm!
