Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 288: You are our last hope

Theo’s POV:

"Oh, is that so?" the wicked King grinned at Serena. "You think that you can dethrone me?" He let out a laugh and turned to Alan. "Can you please tame your lady? She is being completely ridiculous—"

"Your highness, I am sorry." Alan bowed down and moved near Serena. "Honey, just let go of that kid. He is a Half-Siren, after all! No Fae would accept him asking—"

"But he has the heart for it," Serena raised her voice. "His heart is pure with courage, and I can sense that he will soon become a strong lad. But this man’s heart is full of Venom. He impregnated a lady and never took responsibility for that. And you tell me to do nothing when a sinner rules our land?!"

Alan got stunned, and he turned to the King. "Your highness! You never told me that this kid is yours. So you are the father?"

"So what difference does that make?" he questioned him.

Then Alan, too, understood the cruelty of the Fae King. Finally, he was able to sense what his lover was trying to say all this time. "You are impure," Alan blurted out. "You told me a different story, but now I find out something else. You lied to me—"

Serena pulled me even closer to her that the back of my head was so near her womb. Even though the situation around me was so tense, the heartbeat of the baby girl was giving me solace.

Now Alan was on our team too. He stood next to his lover and held her hand. "Serena, no matter what happens today, we are not giving up this kid. This impure man should be exposed!"

Oberon got to the peak of irritation. "You bloody peasants," he yelled at the couple. "You are not worthy enough to judge me! I have battled with a countless number of shadow creatures and saved this realm for many years."

Then he looked down at me and said, "This kid is the only mistake I ever made in my life! Sadly, I wasn’t able to control my lust over a slutty Siren. And you two think I am impure as I made one mistake?"

"Yes, you are," Serena snapped. "Still now, you are abusing the mother of your child. She died giving birth to this just for you! She would have aborted the child to save herself—but she didn’t! And you honor her sacrifice by calling her a slut? Honestly, how do you even sleep at night—"

"Enough," Oberon roared. "Consider yourself lucky, Serena! I am obligated to let you live because of the baby that is growing inside you—"

Then he viciously turned to Alan and said. "You are of no use to me now! You are just a threat to me. And I hate to keep my threats alive—".

Then without warning, he swung his sword and sliced the throat of Alan in a second. It all happened too fast. I was so dazed when his blood fell on me like a drizzle. Serena took a while even to realize what had just happened. She couldn’t believe that he had sliced the throat of her lover.

"Alan," she screamed only after he fell on the ground, battling to breathe air. She finally let go of me and knelt beside her dying lover. She held his hand and placed her other hand over his bleeding throat as if trying to heal him.

"He won’t heal," Oberon chuckled. "This sword is dipped in the venom of a Serpent. Now his whole body is poisoned. Even if you heal his neck, the venom will kill him in a few seconds."

So this man is going to die?! Noooo! He can’t die! He is the father of the baby girl! Once the girl is born, she wouldn’t have a father! But I wasn’t able to do anything other than watch the scene with my eyes full of tears. Oberon was the only one to watch the scene with a smirk on his face. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Take care of the kids....* Alan said to the sobbing Serena before he stopped breathing. And that was the first death I ever saw. Unfortunately, it was the death of the nobleman! He didn’t deserve to die like this!

Serena kissed the forehead of her dead lover and got up from the ground. She scanned Oberon with a tear-stained face. "You weren’t supposed to kill him! You should have called him out for combat! Instead, you broke the rules by killing him unannounced—"

Oberon chuckled and said," Oh, sweet lady! You know by now that I am not a follower of the rules. Still, you expect me to be fair?"

"Fine," she said and raised her hands up. "If you don’t follow the rules, then I won’t do it either."

Ivory, who was watching the scene by hiding in the room the whole time, came running to me after that. She held my hand and said," Theo, we should leave now—"

I didn’t know that was possible now. Oberon has surrounded us. He is going to kill me soon, just like he killed the man. But Serena created an invisible shield around us with her energy. Even Oberon was not able to break the shield. Then with her other hand, she opened a shiny golden portal and shouted out, "Kids, step into the portal and go back to your lands now!"

I hesitated to do that! How can I leave her alone here? Oberon might kill her too. And what about the baby girl?! I should protect her at any cost. I stood still like a log even though Ivory was pulling my hand to move me from my spot.

"Theodore, leave now," Serena yelled again while she was holding the invisible shield. "You are our last hope, kid! You should not die today! You should grow up, acquire more powers and kill this wicked man before me. You should become the King, and you should also take care of my daughter—"
