Former Interstellar Mercenary In Urban Cultivation World-Chapter 1376: Sealing the Past, Opening the Future
Meanwhile, Yeom Hwaryeon was inwardly shocked.
He realized that while Amalia was speaking with him, she was simultaneously sealing the passage — and at a surprising speed.
In the visible to the naked eye, at least one-third of the passage had already been closed.
Yeom Hwaryeon stared at the multicolored pearl hovering over the entrance, realizing that this must be the true form of the Five Elemental Pearl.
Suddenly, he remembered why the former Chief had insisted on uniting the five tribes to close the passage together.
At that time, the Chief must have already known that the Five Elemental Pearl could seal the passage.
However, since the Pearl had been divided among the five tribes, it would have been nearly impossible to retrieve them, especially from the Water Vein Tribe, who had a blood feud with the Fire Vein Tribe.
So the Chief had decided to let everyone realize for themselves the danger the passage posed.
Sadly, the Chief’s plan must have been discovered by the devils, who struck first and killed him.
As the passage grew narrower and narrower, most of the surrounding devil energy dissipated.
The sky that was previously covered with dark clouds, slowly revealed its original azure blue.
A beam of sunlight pierced through the clouds, shining down into the dark, damp forest.
An hour later.
The Devil Passage had completely disappeared, and no trace of the devil energy remained.
The Oryeong Mountains seemed to have returned to their former tranquility.
Crisp, lively birdsong echoed from all directions, cheerful and bright.
Even the demonic beasts sensed that the devil aura which had long hung over the forest had vanished, letting out joyful howls.
Everyone found it hard to believe, the devil passage that had taken so many of their kin had really been sealed.
"Thank you, Miss Amalia." Yeom Hwaryeon immediately bowed in gratitude to Amalia, though he said nothing about the Five Elemental Pearl’s secret.
The Five Elemental Pearl had been in their hands for many years, yet they had never unlocked its true power.
Now, in Amalia’s hands, it had accomplished what they had failed to do in all that time.
Perhaps, it was destiny.
"Thank you, Miss Amalia."
The people of the Fire Vein Tribe also expressed their deepest thanks to her one after another.
"As such, the task I promised you has been completed," Amalia said to Yeom Hwaryeon. "Can you now take me to the entrance leading to the Devil Battlefield?"
Yeom Hwaryeon had already guessed that she had asked about the entrance because she wished to use it to enter the Devil Battlefield.
"Miss Amalia, the situation in Ashwood Hollow City across the Devil Battlefield is currently unknown to us. There might even be devils lying in ambush. If you go rashly, it could be extremely dangerous."
Amalia said calmly, "It doesn’t matter. I am already mentally prepared. Elder Yeom, you just need to take me there."
Seeing her resolve, Yeom Hwaryeon no longer tried to dissuade her.
Returning to the tribe, he obtained a travel permit from the surviving chiefs and then led Amalia toward the entrance.
Oryeong Mountains, western side.
Ever since the entrance had been sealed, aside from the guards stationed at the entrance, no one else had come here.
The mountains appeared exceptionally barren and desolate.
Amalia noticed there were very few signs of battle here, suggesting that even the devils thought the same as the former leader of the Fire Vein Tribe, they didn’t want the events in the Oryeong Mountains to attract the attention of powerful human cultivators from the outside world.
Yeom Hwaryeon threw the five Chiefs’ command tokens into the void.
The next second, the five tokens froze in midair, and a massive door, hovering between reality and illusion, slowly appeared.
The door was ancient, with only simple carvings on its surface.
Perhaps because it had been sealed for so long, when it opened, it emitted a deep and ancient sound.
Behind the door was a swirling vortex, but what lay beyond the vortex, no one could say for sure.
"Miss Amalia, Ashwood Hollow City is just beyond this door."
Amalia could not sense what was behind the door, but she no longer cared.
Choosing to enter the Devil Battlefield from here was a matter of necessity.
The Oryeong Mountains were located at the extreme eastern edge of the Mystic Void Continent, slightly to the north.
Traveling from here back to the Green Lotus Sect would take at least half a year, possibly longer.
Of course, she had no intention of returning to Green Lotus Sect right now.
She still needed to find the World Tree and seek out that wisp of white essence that Kenny Lin needed.
She had a feeling that perhaps she might find clues about the World Tree within the Devil Battlefield.
"Farewell." Amalia bid farewell to Yeom Hwaryeon and the others and, without hesitation, stepped through the giant door.
"Elder, now that the Devil Passage has been sealed, should we also reseal this door?" a clansman asked.
"I know what you want to say." Yeom Hwaryeon had already been a bit moved when Amalia had requested to use this door. "Unfortunately, the Fire Vein Tribe cannot make that decision alone."
"Why not gather the Chiefs together now and let everyone vote again whether or not to fully open this door? The former Chief used to say that cultivation is not achieved by endless seclusion, but through tempering oneself in battle. Only by doing so can one forge an invincible golden body."
"That’s right. The Young Chief is still young. He needs it even more than we do. Endless closed-door cultivation is far less effective than breaking through during battle."
Yeom Hwaryeon also thought this was a good opportunity.
"Then let’s give it a try."
After resealing the giant door, Yeom Hwaryeon returned the tokens and casually brought up the matter with the other Chiefs.
Meanwhile, after Amalia entered the door, her experience mirrored that of others who had once entered the Devil Battlefield through here.
