From a Talentless nobody to An SSS Class Dragon-Chapter 190: The Shop (What If Series)
(The Year 2096.)
"Rokuro I hope you are ready!" Minami shouts from downstairs.
I completely forgot that Minami is taking me down to the new cyborg shop today. I’ve been wanting to see it since I heard about it opening up.
The government has been hard at work with making something possible for us to see on our own. Though I’ll never understand how they are cyborgs and not Androids but I guess it doesn’t matter.
I’m just a kid at the end of the day, no one cares what some kid thinks.
So I quickly grab my shoes and run downstairs to meet her at the door.
She stood by the door, tugging on her hoodie like she always does before we leave to go somewhere. Her long white hair drifted over her shoulders, a little tangled from sleep, catching the morning light in a way that made it look like it didn’t belong in this world. I always thought it was kind of magical, like the soft snow that never stuck to the ground.
She wore the same old clothes, a gray hoodie with a loose thread on the sleeve, dark jeans with a scrape on one knee, and those beat-up sneakers she never wants to throw away. Simple. Comfortable. Her.
I was still fumbling with my shoelaces when she glanced over, green eyes catching mine. That look, half amused, half patient... like she was used to waiting on me. I didn’t mind.
That’s just how she was when it came to watching over me. Finally I got my shoes tied and I could see she was ready to go.
"I’m ready. I’ve been waiting for this shop to open." I say with excitement.
"Then let’s get going." Minami replies with a smile.
She extended her hand out for me to hold so I didn’t get lost, it was very easy to do with how busy our street was. People were always walking all over the place here.
The sun was shining even brighter than usual today but I didn’t mind since it meant we have a perfect day for going out.
I couldn’t help but notice all the different people standing in line at the shop itself, waiting to get inside. Everyone was probably curious about the cyborgs since the government kept it hidden for so long.
But the cool part was that they had some sort of security guards outside the shop, I think they are some sort of cyborg as well.
"Junji’s Bot Shop". That was the sign above the door and it was definitely quite nice inside. I could just barely see how it looked inside from where I stood.
"I can’t believe we’re really here." I say with excitement.
"I did promise to take you here." Minami replies with a happy tone.
"Thank you so much for taking me, I’m so excited to see what awaits inside." I say with even more excitement.
The others around me were also excited and talking about what the cyborgs could be like inside the shop. Others were talking about pricing and if they could even afford to buy one today.
"The shop is officially open! Come on inside!" A man with a long black beard shouts.
I watch as people flood into the shop but it doesn’t take very long for us to get up to the doors since most people couldn’t afford the bots. It was definitely expensive and probably even out of our budget.
Even if Dad or mom were still around... They probably couldn’t afford to get me one of these bots either. I definitely would’ve loved to have one.
But just getting to go inside and look at them will be enough for me today I think. At least one day maybe it’ll be something I can afford.
"Rokuro we are finally able to get inside. Let’s check them out!" Minami shouts with excitement.
Upon entering the shop I could see a whole variety of cyborgs all over the place with different models, hair colors, hairstyles, everything.
This place was amazing and I could see so many different styles of clothing too. The prices were definitely not affordable by any means. $2000. That was for one of the more basic models, I couldn’t imagine what a more complicated one could be worth.
"Oh the Nakashima family made it out for my opening! I’m so happy you guys could make it. Believe it or not, your dad made an arrangement with me a long time ago." The bearded man says with a big smile on his face. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
The goggles on his head, the curly black hair with some strands of grey, the long black beard, and his worn clothes with an apron were all signs that he was the owner here.
"You knew our dad?" Minami questions.
"I did. He offered me a pretty penny awhile ago for me to save something for his kids. It is the least I can do for an old friend, come along now. I have something for you two." He responds.
I just barely saw the name tag before we start to follow him back. This was Junji, the owner of this shop.
Dad really went out of his way to make sure we got one of these cyborgs before he died? I didn’t think he ever actually listened to us about how much we like them.
Of course I like them a lot more than Minami but she was also excited for this shop to open up. I never once thought I’d get to come here with her though.
Yet alone, getting one to bring home with us today.
After following Junji to the back of the shop we were greeted by a cyborg with curly long white hair, if actually looks a lot like mom. Did Dad really pay the money to get us a copy of mom after everything that happened...
I could see tears going down Minami’s face as she looked at the cyborg. I could feel them slowly going down my cheeks as well.
