Chapter 194: 4 Years later...

(4 Years Later.)

The conversation 4 years ago honestly surprised me in so many different ways. I didn’t expect Minami to actually be on board with everything but I guess she’s always been supportive.

There was never a reason for me to doubt it or to question anything about it. She still continued going to school for the duration of the last few years while I stayed home.

I had to bring Mom with me to the junkyard around here so that I could actually head inside though.

After awhile they didn’t seem to care anymore since I became a regular. They were just shocked that a kid like me was into this kind of stuff.

I didn’t blame any of them though since you don’t expect it in the slightest.

So here I am digging around in a junkyard right now for something that could be worth fixing up. 11 years old and I’m slowly working towards becoming an official junker.

Most of the stuff here is old TVs, microwaves, broken cybernetics people couldn’t use, and some car parts.

That was until I finally found something worth working on. A tiny little robot, it was actually quite adorable. So I picked it up with some additional parts around the junkyard before leaving.

I eventually made it back home and put everything together in the garage. That was where I made my workshop for the time being until I could afford something myself.

Realistically we do have the money for me to get my own place together but it wouldn’t look good if some 11 year old kid opened up a shop.

I already get a lot of looks with the little homemade shop I have.

It is frowned upon by anyone with common sense that a kid like me is working a job like this. Even if I’m self employed. They don’t care since it doesn’t look good.

But this little guy here might be able to help me out with some of this work. After about an hour I manage to get some of the old pieces of scrap attached properly.

Ba doop! The little screen powers on without any issues and I can see a tiny little face on it now. It was a small all grey little robot who I could probably hold in my arms.

All the tests seem to run perfectly for him too so he actually works.

"It said you have a voicebox but does it work?" I ask while staring at him.

"Y...Yes." it stutters at first before responding.

"Awesome! I’m going to have you help me on these projects, but what should I name you?" I ask while scratching my chin.

I never had to name something before since we never had any pets. I also think that a pet is a lot different than a tiny little robot here.

Maybe I’ll call him MOE. Yeah, that works.

"Moe. That’s what your name will be." I say while giving him a pat on the head.

"Moe. Name acknowledged..." He manages to reply.

I’ll definitely have to help adjust his voice box to function better but this will do for the time being. He’ll be a great addition to the shop since he can get to places that I can’t.

I will probably have to do some programming with him as well but I did study a bit of that over the years as well.

It won’t be that big of a deal.

With that I got back to work. There was a lot of stuff for me to figure out in the shop today. I did find an old cyborg lying around as well but this one is going to be sold.

It is very rare to find such a thing in a junkyard to begin with so I’d rather take advantage of whatever I can. The parts alone are worth a fortune.

"Moe I need you to help me with dismantling this cyborg." I say while pulling out some tools.

He didn’t respond but walks over to the cyborg and gets to work. I was just happy that I didn’t need to give it another command.

The sounds of my tools and the sounds of Moe’s little drill were all I could hear as we work on dismantling the cyborg. It wasn’t worth fixing and was worth taking apart instead.

The parts on these things will cover a lot of potential upgrades for this shop. I might even be able to get more tools that will be a bit better in terms of quality.

These ones have done well enough for the time being but I’d like to see what better quality provides me.

Creeeek. "Still working on stuff out here?" Minami speaks with a bit of a shocked look on her face.

"Always am." I respond while wiping my face.

"Who’s the little robot guy you have there?" She asks before walking in to look at it.

"Moe." I answer softly.

I watch for a moment as she takes a look at Moe, she even picks him up to examine him a bit more closely. She was definitely impressed by what I could do out here.

Even if I didn’t fully build Moe, I did give him better pieces from scrap I found.

He was my little helper in this shop and I couldn’t be happier to have him around. He could use some personality though.

"He’s adorable. You should make something like that for me as well." Minami says with a smile.

"Yeah, sure." I reply back with a smile as well.

The years of adjusting to the cyborg mom wasn’t too bad but it still never felt completely normal. She basically just cleans the house and helps with making dinner for us.

It would never be like our real mom so it didn’t really make a difference at the end of the day.

This primarily just gave Minami a chance to go to school properly while I did what I needed to. Other than having her help me at the junkyard from time to time.
