Chapter 188: Chapter 93: Long Time No See, Insect Race

For Guan Changxi, there’s no need to mention, as day and night are all the same for him. Su Jiameng also had excellent night vision, and even in this dark alley with not a shred of light, only a faint moonlit glow, she had no trouble seeing.

Upon witnessing the scene near the trash can, the shock in Su Jiameng’s eyes was undeniable. Her slightly heavier breathing, though light, was exceptionally noticeable in this silent night.

The "person" standing with their back toward them, dressed in a blue and white hospital gown, seemed not to have heard or perhaps heard but didn’t care? Continuing to gnaw enthusiastically on a delicate leg, a sound of bone being crushed was emanating from their mouth...

Listening closely, another living person’s sobbing could be heard. Su Jiameng shifted her gaze slightly and discovered a pair of shoes. Taking a step forward, she could vaguely see a girl hugging her knees, desperately trying to hide in the corner, her face streaked with tears and fear.

Could this be the source of the chewing sound Su Jiameng previously sensed? Not quite Insect Race, but even more disgusting than them.

Looking at this "person" before her, her expression was unprecedentedly calm, "Changxi, move back a bit."

With a flick of Su Jiameng’s hand, a laser particle sword appeared in her palm, its brilliant blue light striking in the night.

The person gnawing on the food finally found time to pay attention to Su Jiameng, this bothersome woman interrupting its meal. Turning around, its horrifying and disgusting appearance was enough to make one vomit their evening meal! This... was literally a monster.

The person was dressed in a blue and white hospital gown, with a cleanly shaved head. Half of the face was that of a clean, delicate youth, while the other half had turned into pus, with even the eyeball dangling barely from the socket.

A compound eye of an insect was growing in the originally empty eye socket, twitching occasionally, extremely terrifying.

The half face also had liquid dripping down, with half of the body showing insect-specific traits. Calling it a monster was indeed reasonable. Su Jiameng stared at the opponent for a short moment, her lips curling with sarcasm, "I wondered who it was, turns out it’s an Adhesive Devouring Worm that doesn’t even count as the weakest minion. A worthless being, good for nothing but eating and secreting nauseating mucus."

Su Jiameng leveled her laser particle sword, her toes pushing off the ground. In a flash of blue light in the darkness, the struggling "person" trying to grab her as food was cut in half, slight mucus splattering onto her skirt, which she disregarded.

The girl, as she cut the monster in two, suddenly clutched her head, about to scream. Guan Changxi, having anticipated this, knocked her unconscious with a hand chop, cradling her to a corner.

"Though it’s the lowest class Adhesive Devouring Worm, its life force is as strong as a cockroach. Unexpected to find it here."

Su Jiameng looked at the twitching, wriggling half-body. The chaotic, active mental wave was especially strong, as if something or life was about to break free. With telekinesis, she exterminated the insect eggs nurtured inside the half-body corroded by Insect Race genes.

Technically, Adhesive Devouring Worms don’t count as Insect Race, because the Insect Race doesn’t acknowledge such weak and useless yet resilient beings. Their attack power is no match even for other Insect Race larvae, their combat prowess is practically trash, but their reproduction and life force are terrifyingly strong. Without thoroughly exterminating them mentally or reducing their bodies to nothing, it’s hard to send them to see King Yan.

"Changxi, let’s go. Oh, don’t forget to erase the girl’s memory... just the recent part will do."

Su Jiameng had no intention of revealing herself now. There was no trace of the Insect Race on the girl, presumably the unlucky soul the monster grabbed for food? In that case, it’s better to give her a chance to live.

Just as Su Jiameng sheathed her sword to leave, her ankle was grabbed by a hand. She looked down at the "person" still alive with only half a body, her expression somewhat peculiar. It seemed this person had been thoroughly invaded by the Adhesive Devouring Worm, even inheriting its formidable life force.

Half a body, yet still able to open his eyes and look at her, with a pleading tone.

Su Jiameng shook her head, saying coldly, "I’m sorry, I can’t save you, but I can end your life, sparing you more suffering. Your genes have been invaded by Adhesive Devouring Worms. Even if saved, you’d quickly revert to the previous form... I won’t let you live."

The person seemed to understand her words, despair and regret in his clear lake green eyes. He fumbled with his good hand and pulled out a photo from his clothes, awkwardly handing it to Su Jiameng’s feet, a fleeting smile, very beautiful.

However, his gaze fell elsewhere, looking at the unconscious girl, with apology, guilt, and longing.

Seeing this person open his mouth soundlessly, as if to utter his final words, Su Jiameng appeared as if she hadn’t seen, raising the laser particle sword, and without hesitation, brought it down, severing his last bit of life. Blood mixed with mucus splattered, spraying onto her legs and body. Watching half a head roll away, the unclosed eyes seemingly watching her, Su Jiameng felt a wave of melancholy inside.

"Saving you would be the greatest blasphemy... dying instead preserves your last dignity... Go peacefully, at least you die a human, not a half-human, half-Insect Race creature destined to kill and eat your kin..." (To be continued.
