From Imp to Demon God: Conquering the Demon World With a Succubus-Chapter 82: Commander’s Suspicions
Myles thought of the Chain Knights. He believed that the Brand Templars were far stronger than the Chain Knights.
He asked, "Do you think the Brand Templars are far stronger than the Chain Knights?"
The Veil Stalker was silent for a while and said, "Not really, in fact, the Chain Knights cleaned up the Brand Templars’ mess. If their obedience sigils failed, the Chain Knights would enforce their mass binding chains that were pretty much impossible to break free from once you get caught."
Myles raised his eyebrows. The Veil Stalker’s reasoning made sense.
He thought. In other words, they work better when they’re under the same order. Smart, huh?
Myles was now determined to enslave every race in the knight department as he could, even if some was bothersome.
It’s worth the risk. He believed.
For now, he had to look out for the Commanders, too. Enslaving the Knight Captain was only possible by a stroke of luck.
Ah, right. I’ve caught the attention of the knight captain of two knight races simultaneously.
He asked the Veil Stalker, "Do you think they knew the origin of my demonic energy? I’ve utilized the shadow demonic energy, after all."
The Veil Stalker nodded and replied, "Yes, Emperor. They looked in this direction."
Myles nodded. He sighed and moved his body backward and leaned on his arms with his hands on the floor.
He glanced upward and said, "There’s no need to worry for now. The Blood Knights are now my followers. They won’t betray me. Furthermore, they suspected that the Veil Stalker who killed himself was a victim of the Law of Charm.
There’s no charm involved when having these followers converted to me, they simply recognized my greatness."
The Veil Stalker bowed deeply and replied, "Yes, Emperor. And we, your other followers, will testify for you."
Myles nodded and dismissed the Veil Stalker.
At the same time, he ordered the other Veil Stalkers to proceed with their usual activity.
...
Eventually, the Commander of the Blood Knights returned to the dormitory.
As soon as he entered, all the Blood Knights stood up and arrived in front of him in an organized formation with the knight captain as the center.
They simultaneously bowed. "Welcome back, Commander."
The Commander nodded. He said, "Sit and we’ll have a conversation."
The Blood Knights returned to their position, except some adjusted to provide an additional space for their Commander.
As the Commander sat, he swept his gaze around the Blood Knights and frowned when he realized there was a sudden shift of the hierarchy.
A first knight cadet was sitting beside a knight captain.
The knight captain’s demeanor was strangely different, too.
He thought. Does the knight captain suspect the first knight cadet, too?
It was not difficult for them to conclude that Myles was the primary suspect. Similar to the knight captain’s assumption, Myles’ past activities had been deemed as the most unusual and it was strongly connected with the death of the Veil Stalker.
However, what was the most bizarre thing was... 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The sigil on Myles have not activated. The Commander was utterly shocked. If Myles was involved even for a bit in the death of the Veil Stalker, the sigil would definitely be triggered and Myles would have been disabled right now.
Like the knight captain, it made their assumption’s chances to be true considerably dropped.
However, their assumption only made them desperate. If it was indeed Myles, who was involved in the death of the Veil Stalker, causing a Pyre Champion to have his sigil activated after accidentally killing him, then they would have to treat the matter immensely.
After all, Myles managed to bypass through the sigils imprinted on them.
The Commander took out an artifact from his pocket and placed it at the center.
It was a smooth, obsidian-black orb roughly the size of a clenched fist, etched with faint crimson sigils that pulse as it activates.
A tangible sphere expanded and covered every blood knight present.
Myles glanced at the sphere. Its surface absorbed light rather reflects it, giving it an eerie void-like quality, as though a fragment of pure emptiness has been captured within the sphere.
Instantly, he understood what the artifact had done. It’s a spatial isolation artifact. I wonder if it blocks even scrutiny from others outside with the help of their laws?
As Myles wondered, the Commander took out another artifact.
It’s a thin, circular torque of dark silver. He also took out a suspended two hooked stands where he placed the thin circular torque.
The surface of the torque was engraved with concentric runic script that slowly rotates on its own, like words crawling over liquid metal. At its center floats a faint ember crystal thread.
The Commander said, "Listen."
The faint ember crystal thread flickered when it heard a voice echoing.
Myles frowned at it. He turned towards the Commander and realized he was staring at him with a solemn expression.
He said, "I’m sure everyone is aware by now that a knight died within the campus. It was the third time in the history of the Royal Academy that a student died in the campus and it was the first time that it committed suicide."
The Commander snorted.
"And there’s no way we believed he committed a suicide. It was too far strange to be called out as suicide.
Hence, we are investigating now."
The Blood Knights nodded without hesitation, including Myles.
Before the Commander was able to say something, a knight sergeant asked, "Does that mean Commander that you suspect there’s a suspect among us? After all, you took out the Nullbound Sphere and Veridictum Coil that only the Crown of Night Glass possessed."
The Commander was surprised that a Blood Knight recognized the artifacts he was given by the Glass Oracles. In fact, they wanted to interrogate Myles instead, but there were also other suspects they had to focus on.
The Commander of the Blood Knights suggested he would have to deal with it himself either, hence inevitably landing the artifacts on him.
He replied, "Yes."
